Will do. I have no idea how long they would have let it go on. I would assume they would have some type of report showing meters not providing data and would work them when they exceed a certain threshold.

Potentially. Some meters will count any electricity flowing through regardless of direction. Also, the utility company could fine you. However, the only report I've seen has been a third-hand report of a $5,000 fine. I haven't found anything to actually confirm if utilities still are fining...

PVC Schedule 80 is allowed where it can be subject to physical damage, so that is fine. Just usually looks crappy if ran distances especially horizontal.

I'm surprised they ran exposed flex for your inverter. I would never run flex out in the open like that. Flex isn't allowed where it is "subject to physical damage." It will be interesting to hear what your electrical inspector says. Around here that wouldn't pass.

If you want to totally future proof your house, install a 400A panel and replace the main breaker with a 200A. So you will have a bus rated for 400A but it won't necessarily force the craziness associated with going to 400A main.

Is it cost effective to pay for the transformer replacement instead of going with a smaller system? Maybe add more down the road when your neighbors pay for the transformer upgrade because they got solar ;)

I wouldn't check it if it means you don't get to approve the layout prior to install.

It wouldn't even be an upgrade, it would just be a service change. A Square D panel is fine for solar. It is what my house has and thousands of houses across the country. Will be interesting to hear what they think the issue is.

I still think $4,200 for an in place 200A upgrade seems too high, but $2,000 for a 200A upgrade is pretty cheap. Is the electrician licensed?

If they did install 330 instead of 340 and didn't add panels to compensate, that would be almost a 3% loss and should reduce your bill from Tesla by $482.35. $16,400 * (1-330/340)

Did they do 25 panels then?

They will install extra panels to make up the difference. It is pretty minor though. For example, my 340W 12.24kW system with 36 panels would need to be a 37 panel system with 330W panels.
