Discussion: Model 3 and Y price drop Jan 2023, Pricing Speculation etc

You liked the car and tech and decided it was worth the asking price. Now you will never buy a Tesla because they have the audacity to sell all this tech at a lower price. Right. I get it you got burned, but your argument is laughable.

Advise needed. Cannot take delivery right now

Yes, saw it in the new invoice. Price dropped by 15k in Canada, and upped by about 3k for my 7seat and EAP add-ons. Still about 12k plus in savings, compared to have taken delivery in Jan 1st week. Looks like my guardian angel has pulled my file out from her backlog!

Discussion: Model 3 and Y price drop Jan 2023, Pricing Speculation etc

Comparing the old and new invoices side by side, a bit over 12K difference

TMS P85 motor humidity: high voltage câbles seal leak, error GTW_w176

In my opinion, it is not the humidity present but the degradation of insulation of components in the motor unit, that is giving you poor Megger readings. It is best not to risk short circuit and fire when the motor loaded. I think a 4 year warranty motor is a good option. It sucks but honestly...

Discussion: Model 3 and Y price drop Jan 2023, Pricing Speculation etc

Well, for my existing MYLR order, they reduced price by $15000 (Canada) but bumped it up by $3000 for my 7 seat and EAP options, so my discount comes to $12000. Not complaining though :)

Discussion: Model 3 and Y price drop Jan 2023, Pricing Speculation etc

What happens to existing orders awaiting delivery at the higher price? Do you get the price difference credit?

    How to delay delivery

My SA told me very clearly it is against Tesla's policy to change/transfer registration. I think it makes sense to block scalpers, but YMMV.

Advise needed. Cannot take delivery right now

Apparently my original delivery date had a range of January to May (SA told me, I do not remember). He called me, was very accomodating, and has put it on hold for 2 more months. Hats off! Hope I am ready then. He did put in a caveat - If I ignore an automated notification to take it off hold...

My original order was supposed to be delivered in May 2023 but got advanced a few months back and today I received a "Final Payment is now ready" email. Reservation Transfer Technicalities

I am in Toronto, Canada. My circumstances have changed and, sadly, I may not be able to take delivery. Currently VIN is not assigned and the order is fully configurable. What should I do with my scratched model y?

Buff them up and move on. Life's too short to spend time on trivia. Down the road you will have bigger scratches and dents to deal with. Just imho.

Winter tire package from Tesla vs aftermarket

Tesla package works out 500 to 800 more expensive for the same tires you get at other places. It's the wheels that you cannot get elsewhere. But reading about curb rash maybe I should go for aftermarket wheels anyway.
  16. X

Winter tire package from Tesla vs aftermarket

What do you mean by snug fit? The final total radius (wheel + tire) is same no matter what the wheel size is. Did you mean the fit of the brake callipers? Another question - pmctire.com only ships the wheels/tires. You have to get them installed on the vehicle on your own - right? Or do they...

Winter tire package from Tesla vs aftermarket

Good for you, plus the Michelins are on sale this week. Unfortunately I cannot buy now, as the car is coming in December! On another note, are you toying with the idea of an 18" wheel to have better grip and softer ride in the winter?
  18. X

Winter tire package from Tesla vs aftermarket

I want the Michelins too, they have been out of stock forever at Tesla Canada. And they do cost 3700 at Tesla, but you are getting the OEM wheel as well.

  20. X

Winter tire package from Tesla vs aftermarket

For winter tyre/wheel package, I got quotes from KAL Tire for MYLR and total pricing (with Tesla TPMS) is in the same ballpark as the Tesla's own package for the same type of tires (on 19" wheels). Is there a reason (apart from cosmetic) you would buy an aftermarket package if you want one of...

    Cable gauge feedback

It is good for 50A breaker for sure. I was concerned if the same wiring can be used if I decide to put in a 60A breaker and connect the wall charger that can draw 48 Amps (80% of 60A). After feedback from folks here and checking the Ontario code, it is confirmed, as this wire configuration (BX)...

    CCS1 adapter from A2Z

Correct. They have same performance now. But I was talking about future-proofing. A2Z says it is up to 150kW. On Tesla Canada store, it is rated at 250kW. See screenshot.
  23. X

    CCS1 adapter from A2Z

The Tesla North American CCS1 adapter is rated at 250kW. Even though that rating may not be usable at present, it appears to be more future-proof than the aftermarket ones.

Model Y wheel for winter tyres in the GTA

Canadian cost Rims 300 each, Tyres 400 each, Tesla TPMS 120 each For the set of 4, it is 3280 plus tax = 3706 Tesla package for this is 3700 plus tax = 4188, so a saving of 488 Are the calculations correct?

    Winter Tire for S Plaid?

I like Michelin X-Ice. Good grip and they last a long time. Some others may have better grip but wear out very fast. Mind you, this is from my experience on ICE cars. Still waiting for MYLR delivery and researching like you!

Model Y wheel for winter tyres in the GTA

EV newbie question Winters are messy and dangerous in the GTA. Would 18" wheels/tyres provide more traction (more rubber, so softer, I guess)? My winter driving will all be on "chill" On another note, have you experienced skidding when the car brakes on regen only?

    GTA availibility for MYLR 7-seater

Thanks for sharing! Glad to know Freemont has resolved their fit and finish issues. I too, hope I get the 2170s. Not too sold on "structural" batteries. Not interested in being a beta tester! From what I have read, the new batteries are cheaper to produce, but there are no benefits to the...

MYLR 19" Winter wheels and tyres from Costco instead of Tesla

Yeah, Costco came up with only 18 and 20 inch options for rims compatible with Model Y LR but I want 19 - same as OEM. Does anyone know if one can buy only the 19" Gemini rims from Tesla? I'd rather not switch tyres on the same rims every season,

    Cable gauge feedback

A 14-50 is rated for 50 A max draw (40 A continuous) and the cable can certainly take it. The question is, would he have passed you if you had a wall connector (Instead of 14-50) that is rated up to 48A continuous (60 A max)? Though looking at the discussion here, it appears because switches...

The electrician is well recommended and has done dozens of installations. The wire will be installed with a 60 A breaker and wiring will be inspected and certified. Cable gauge feedback

Thanks. My electrician says he will use 6/3 BX cable and it is rated for 60 A in Ontario (Canada) Electrical Safety code. The book is nearly $300 so I cannot verify this. Can someone here verify the above claim?

4/3 wire would also help to have future capability to use the line to charge 2 cars at a high Amp rate. With one car, Wall charger will take 48 A, so 6/3 is fine. I finally decided to go 6/3, and if I need to charge 2 cars in future, I will throttle the currents so my total draw stays at 50 A...
