Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

I’m with you!! I keep hoping TSLA will stop this relentless downward spiral! Then the voice in my head screams “HOPE IS NOT A STRATEGY!!!” EDIT: Pretty soon however, hope is all I’ll have left.

LOL! This is great. So the bottom is still about seven months away.😳

I must be numb to the falling stock price. I'm kinda glad we're only down 2.5%.

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

Okay, but aren’t all the auto companies preparing for a Q4 delivery push? Sorry, but seeing TSLA at these prices is really starting to get me down.

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

Excellent! Thank you! That’s what I expected given Tesla’s relentless focus on efficiency.

IDK, seems it would be better if the charts showed Inventory as a % of Deliveries or Production.

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

Obviously no one knows for sure when FSD will do what's intended, but given what Tesla has accomplished over the last ten years, it's hard to imagine where they'll be in 2032. For example, my 2012 Model S had basic, not adaptive, cruise control. Now, my 2018 Model 3 literally drives itself...

Great points! That’s helpful! Thank you!

Wiki Selling TSLA Options - Be the House

Perhaps. I’m simply adding the share price and option price, then subtract the strike price of the option. The result is what I’m calling time value, or theta. Is that not right?
  11. jschwefel

Wiki Selling TSLA Options - Be the House

Yeah, that happened to me with some -P400 09/2023s I had a couple weeks ago. What a bummer! They still had about $1 of time value left, which is typically the point I look to roll, but Fidelity assigned them to me before I could make the move. When I called to ask them about it, their answer...

I can’t wait for Tesla to finish FSD! Not only would it be great to have personally, but it could solve some of these logistics problems too.

Wiki Selling TSLA Options - Be the House

Agreed. I went to roll my June 23 400 puts out six months. They still had about $1 of theta value left, so I wasn’t too worried when the trade expired for the day. However, the next morning I saw they had been assigned. I’m now trying to keep at least $2 in theta going forward, so I’m into 2024...

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

Elon clearly knows more than I do, but if it were me, I would be buying TSLA shares with Twitter’s cash since it’s gonna be worth a lot more in another year or so.
  15. jschwefel

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

These are trying times indeed. However, most of us have been here before and while Elon is gonna be Elon, I am still really thankful for him. Sure...some of his tweets and antics are cringeworthy, but so are most of the things I read from people who should know better. Sometimes you have to...

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

We’ve had historically low interest rates for more than a decade, but this period of historically high inflation only started in the last year or so. Now we’re on the tail end (hopefully) of a world-wide pandemic where governments responded by printing massive amounts of money to stimulate the...

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

I wondered the same thing, then I realized GM is better at marketing and advertising than they are at making cars. The best part is they are raising EV awareness and that helps all of us.

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

Thank you for this. I agree and don’t think QT gets enough attention. Money supply is a big deal and I find it interesting no one talks about it. It makes me wonder if the Fed is up to something else while under the guise of “controlling inflation.” 🤔

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

😀 Sorry…I should have been more specific. 90% silver coins only included dimes, quarters, half dollars and dollars 1964 and earlier. Nickels were actually 75% copper and 25% nickel except from 1942 to 1945 when they went to 35% silver in order to use the nickel for the war effort.
  20. jschwefel

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

Reminds me of this…in 1964 a gallon of gasoline cost about three dimes. How much gasoline would those SAME three dimes buy today? ANSWER: about a gallon of gasoline, or $4.72 worth to be exact. How? In 1964 US coins were minted with 90% silver, and $1.00 (face value) of those coins contain .715...

Bummer… I guess, assuming you didn’t want to be assigned shares at $910. I too had some DITM short puts, but to avoid assignment I rolled them to next year to maintain a fair amount of time value. I didn’t want to take any chances and currently have around $30 in time value, but I’ve heard you...

After HODL’ing since 2013, I started trading options in 2021. From that I’ve learned you can make a small fortune in the market… just start with a large fortune and trade options.

Wiki Selling TSLA Options - Be the House

This is my new favorite thread! The "TSLA & the Investment World" thread has become unreadable. BTW, like many here, I'm just trying to survive this downturn and not do anything I'll regret later. My short puts are DITM, and my margin balance is dropping daily. I'm really trying NOT to sell...

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

Yeah, that’s a bummer. I ignored the update and now it’s not there anymore. It’s a good thing too; those forward collision warnings I received today dropped my Safety Score from 99 to 91. I’ll enjoy it while I can, but I suspect I’ll lose it too in the near future. Oh well.

I took the car out for more driving this afternoon. It was raining most of the time, but it still performed okay. I just finished watching Rob Mauer’s video from early this morning, and my visualizations are nearly identical. The red lines are sometimes blurry, but not pink in color; other times...

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

It’s good…really good, but as witnessed by countless YouTube videos, it’s a little jerky and hesitant stopping and making turns. I had it drive me to and from a local hardware store (it was closed), and it did so without any interruptions. It didn’t park or anything, but it took me to the front...

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

We’ll, I wasn’t expecting this this morning. My Model 3 is number 5977 delivered in February 2018. I purchased FSD and received the computer upgrade sometime ago, but the cameras are still original. Given all the talk about early models needing the cameras upgraded, I didn’t think I’d be getting...

IDK, but I interpreted this to mean it was a structural pack, but not the 4680 cells. Could it be that Tesla has made a structural, tabless battery pack using the 18650 cells for the Plaid S? Hmmm.🤔
  38. jschwefel

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

Just stopped by the Service/Delivery Center in Indianapolis and noticed one Model S Plaid and five refreshed non-Plaid ones. First ones I’ve seen here; it was good to see non-Plaid cars ready for delivery.

Still HODL’ing. Most people can’t get their head around companies like Tesla or Amazon or Apple, and they think they have to sell when the stock has had a good run. Admittedly, knowing when to sell is the hard part, but in Tesla’s case, they truly are just getting started. Their total...

Ok, maybe this doesn’t count, but I owned Model S #1249 for four years. I sold it about a year ago, but only to keep my early Model 3 (#5977]. The Model S was a silver P85, and an interesting part of its history was that it was used by Tesla in some of the early photo shoots of the ModelS. My...

I haven’t really bought anything big, but I did retire recently. I’ve donated a bunch and cashed out just enough TSLA for a year or two of living expenses. I also opened a Pledged Asset Line of credit against some of the position to cover anything “unexpected”. Ok, we did buy an RV to travel...

I like this. Vehicles should be taxed based on miles driven and weight. Those two things are what degrade our roadways. Fuel taxes should continue in some form; that would be more of a carbon tax though, not for roads.
