Finished up my DIY Ceramic Coating

Most of the best detailers can get it only that far. You probably have 2 or 3 spots that are just a little deep for the R.O.P. alone. Some 2000 wet/ dry sand paper is in order for these difficult scratches. Take a little at a time and don't hurry. Adam has a tutorial on this process as well...

Finished up my DIY Ceramic Coating

Awesome job. Adam Pitale would be quite proud.;) There's nothing like the satisfaction of doing a great job and stepping back for that Ahhh moment. I've been a big fan of Adam's products and work culture. Every employee I've ever spoken with loves their job and specifically working for him. Also...

    Umm...I don't think so.

It sounds like the dealer wants to get their hands on some real performance cars. I've had the displeasure of having to drive a Lexyota loaner. POS that got 14 MPG no matter what. Sneaky bastards  :p
  4. Kleenerth3

    Snippiness 2.0

Wow. You should talk about something you know about. I've been using RA's for 35+ years and never had any of the problems you describe. The emblem is embossed, it'll never wear off and only idiots mount to the metal edge. The plastic is identical. 7K mis. and no paint wear and... Rattles...

    Mudflaps

Get Rally Armour. They are the best for the money, no questions. I don't know what some of these "experts" are talking about but these were less than $40 shipped. Several other threads dealt with this subject and I was surprised how many people came around in the end to Rally Armour. Yeah you...

Windshield sunshade needed after ceramic tinted windshield?

I also had my windshield done with LLumar clear ceramic that boasts 48% heat reduction and 99% UV protection. Since UV does the most degradation of materials, I don't worry about it too much. I do, though, garage my 3 so it doesn't spend a lot of time cooking in the San Diego sun. Heat build up...

Atles. But... I thought about "Jim". Then I could tell everyone I go to the Jim every day. :p

    Tesla surfers

According to the manual, just turning off the blue tooth on the phone should do it. I've never tried it, but I can't open the car unless the BT is on.

POLL: Aero Wheels - On or Off

Like Birdman325 I take them off for city and short trip driving. In busy parking lots it's too easy for thieves to just pop them off and go. Yeah there's Sentry and going to the cops... Hassle! For long drives those Aeros are a nice advantage against drag at highway speed. I actually flip...

What do you use to clean the inside of your windows

While watching the installation of my LLumar Pinnacle tint, the guys used towels on the dash and spray bottles with soapy water and synthetic clay bars inside the windshield to remove the clingons. They remarked that it had to be perfect before laying down the windshield clear film. I now use...

Emulate Engine Noise - Agree or Disagree?

O Oh hell yeah, now we're talking! LMAO! Imagine that on the stereo full blast. Cars anywhere near you will need to clean out their drawers.

Any way to know if I'm getting a loaner from the service center?

Hey brother. You will get a loaner since you ID'ed a problem with initial delivery quality. This is per the contract and they may issue you a loaner thru Enterprise with whom Tesla has an agreement. Another thread a while ago brought it to my attention. Initially I thought all loaners would be...

What's Your Favorite Ceramic-Infused Spray Sealant?

Like Joebruin77 said, the cost breaks fairly evenly. Yes, initial cost is more. My Adam's Ceramic Coating was $80. It is enough to coat my car 3 times. Each treatment will last for a year or longer. One bottle of ceramic Boost has already lasted me over 2 years. Even if garaged, wax needs to be...

What's Your Favorite Ceramic-Infused Spray Sealant?

I'm glad you did, tfraley! It made me look into the matter and I went to the horses mouth. This is from a tech at Adam's Polishes, Xpel did try and did successfully "mimick" Adam's original Ceramic Boost formula which was white. Adam's has since improved their formula which is now the blueish...

    Mud Guards...

I've seen the red and it looks like a dead match as well. I wonder if it is intentional? They sure look awesome with the detailed matching paint on black. Happy New year to you too bro and enjoy your even awesomer 3! :D

Back speaker grill(?) got wet during tinting. Should I be worried?

I couldn't agree more! BTW- Magic and James (Big Game)... Two of my favorite Lakers! :D
  18. Kleenerth3

Back speaker grill(?) got wet during tinting. Should I be worried?

Wow. Most shops cover the area with a few towels and try to dab the corners just for professionalism but no this isn't going to damage your speakers or cover. You might see a residue if it wasn't wiped at the shop. I use Adams leather and interior cleaner on a microfiber towel on these areas...

    Mud Guards...

Yours is the first one I've seen I've seen with a matching color. Looks great! Keep us updated on the durability factor.

    Mud Guards...

Looking forward to it Phlier! TBH, I like the way the painted ones look. I chickened out and got the black on black. Now that I've seen a few painted ones, I wish I had the cajones to get the blue. Love it! You will be happy with the results for sure. I've bottomed mine a few times and have no...

    DIY Chrome Delete

I did my own with blue painters tape, pencils and an exacto knife. 1" & 4" Orafol detail tape. It cost me about $40 in materials and made my own. The side cameras are freaking tiny and really requires patience. Put the tape on, use the pencil to bring out the edges, peel off the car and apply to...

Deep Blue Metallic - Show me pictures of your car today!

I know you've been itching to get your hands on that car! Now you can scratch that itch in your new, perfectly awesome looking and driving 3. It's been fun following this thread and reading your thoughts along the way. I've had my 3 for 6 months and still grin from ear to ear thinking about...

Finally happened. Bumped rear wheel on a turn. Fixable?

Duner, they did a great job with a pretty good chunk of rim rash. I've been able to hide the one small bit I did to mine, luckily. Can you post the shop you used? A few of our older San Diego communities have real short driveway curb aprons and that's what got me. Thanks for the info and the post.

    Amen to that brother.

    Thoughts on this look

I'm not a fan of the black out roof pillar. The door handles are Ok, but you're asking for a lot of scratches from fingernails and rings if they aren't familiar with it. Like SMAIset said, it could look better and a little "chrome trim" goes a long way. Kinda like someone couldn't make up their...

I absolutely Love driving my Tesla

LOL. The other way around for me. I've gotten into the Saab and realized that I didn't have the keys. HAH! We're getting spoiled by our 3's. Imagine that... :D
  27. Kleenerth3

I absolutely Love driving my Tesla

Until we got the 3, I never would have considered selling the'05 Saab 9-2x. After owning a Tesla, I really hate having to shift, brake, hold my foot on the brake at a light, dealing with slow acceleration, fueling up at the service station, the smell of the garage after it's driven, etc... I...

I absolutely Love driving my Tesla

Absolutely! We love our 3 so much we're planning on adding the Y to our stable in a year or so. We will then be 100% EV and loving every minute of it. I'm glad to know that I'm not the only one who looks for any excuse to jump in the 3 and go for a cruise.

Deep Blue Metallic - Show me pictures of your car today!

I agree with CaptainMorgs, plastidip or vinyl wrap is easily removed and the chrome or stainless beneath is left unmarred. You can also buy them online almost any color and ready to install. Like jkoya mentioned, the plastidip is very popular because of its ease of application and removal. It...

Deep Blue Metallic - Show me pictures of your car today!

Frankie!! LOL. That's so funny cuz that's exactly what I sing to my wife when we drive by that sign just off the I-15 fwy and our offramp. I only know the first couple of lines, then start making stuff up until we bust a gut. :D She actually likes this pic cuz of da sign.

Deep Blue Metallic - Show me pictures of your car today!

You can go many cool places in the 3. I took mine to the Moon... Nursery in Escondido. :p Right next to Thunderbird driving range. Home of the big bucket O'balls. I bet you're getting itchy waiting for your delivery. A little something to hold you over. :D:cool:

    3 or Y

Cuz I assumed!!! There can't be anything under that tiny front end. I know what happens when I assume... BTW- hours after posting that I see pics of one on the road near LAX. HAH :p. I still really want to see one up close but the bed still has me concerned, access wise. Thanks for...
  34. Kleenerth3

    3 or Y

I'm still waiting for them to finish it! I don't think it's legal to put on the road anywhere yet. No headlights, no side mirrors, no side running lights, no frunk or front crumple zone and bed rails so high you have to access the bed only thru the tailgate. It would be an awesome fifth wheel...

The M3 really drives like what they say

Bubba, it's funny reading a lot of these cuz I did it bass ackwards. I set up our house for solar and had it figured for EV charging. Then waited for one EV that had 300 mi range and was affordable. I knew then it would be between the Bolt and Tesla if Elon came through with his promise to build...

Anyone else think the new Hold mode is TOO smooth?

Absolutely, about 5% more LoL. The biggest thing I had to get used to was regen braking distance. The old set up I had coasted more freely below 6/7 MPH. I still have an urge to tap the brakes and then find I need to feather the accelerator so I don't look stupid stopping way short. I find each...
  37. Kleenerth3

Anyone else think the new Hold mode is TOO smooth?

Hey brother! It's not just you. It took me a few to get used to it but now I love it. Some have posted how acceleration feels labored. I don't notice that at all. I used hold a lot before the update with the creep setting. The new update seems to be providing more Regen, but I haven't a lot of...

The M3 really drives like what they say

One song keeps playing in the back of my mind when I think about being 100% EV, Anticipation... :)
  39. Kleenerth3

The M3 really drives like what they say

Sounds so familiar! LOL. It's the test drive I hear too many times that is the clincher. Like you, even tho it looks like a super track car, the ride isn't going to require a kidney belt.:p The clincher for me was how safe and in control the car feels regardless if my foot is on the floor or...

    3 or Y

I agree, yet these issues didn't exist beyond the industry norm during production of the S and X. Elon wanted to compete in a higher demand/ production segment and the 3 showed those growing pains. Ramping up those kind of numbers after serving a more niche market has killed several EV wannabes...

Driving Down I-5 - Seeking temporary solution for protection again rock chips

Basically everything below the line on top of the lights to the hood. Entire bumper, lights and blinkers. No hood or fenders. I have what is called the clear bra.
  43. Kleenerth3

    3 or Y

I doubt that the rollout will be that bad. Like daviddavid said, about 65% of the Y is a 3. The entire battery, drivetrain and much of the interior are identical. Tesla is also well aware of the 3 production problems in the early rollout and is paying very close attention to build quality. We're...

Windshield angle or Quality of Glass

I agree with you KenC. The lower to the ground, the closer you are to road debris. Having said that I recently replaced my'03 Silverado windshield and couldn't believe how bad the pitting in it was. That windshield was much more upright than the laid down angle of the 3. IMO, the angle makes the...

    3 or Y

I think ewoodrick nailed it. 3's are pumping out now, Y's realistically 6/8 months minimum. We love our 3 but it is a sedan. Once we sell my wife's car, we'll be looking at picking up a Y for the hatchback room but that's about a year away. They should be rolling off the line by then. Like I...

What's Your Favorite Ceramic-Infused Spray Sealant?

I recently asked the techs at Adams Polishes what they consider they're best ceramic detail spray. They have many products I like, ceramic Waterless Wash, H2O Guard and Gloss, regular detail spray... They said Ceramic Boost! I love using the H2O Guard and Gloss after a wash as a drying agent...

    HPWC fail

I found my HPWC solid red and like you I started to freak. Grabbed my manual that I keep on top and... Viola! The magic reset button. This happened a week after it was hooked up. Tesla's learning curve is crazy.
