What extension cable should I use (50AMP or 30AMP) NEMA 14-30 and NEMA 14-50?

EVSE Adapters have also Tesla extensions from 10 feet to 50 feet. https://www.evseadapters.com/products/tesla-extension-cord/ EVSE Adapters have been making OEM quality Tesla stuff for a while. I use their TT-30 Tesla adapter and works well.

    36.X and Steering Wheel Weight?

If you have a weight, then nag does not go away by tapping on the stalk or scrolling either wheels. Even before the latest update it’d ask you sometimes to nudge the wheel. The difference is that in the past, there’s be a flashing blue screen and now it disables auto Pilot without any warning...

    36.X and Steering Wheel Weight?

Also, don’t believe in everything Elon tells you. INsurance Institute of Highway Safety (IIHS), whose guide lines many insurance companies use to determine their risk and our premium actually detects safety marks from AP because of its lack of proper driving monitoring systems, while it awards...

    36.X and Steering Wheel Weight?

This idea of touching wheel was just a short cut that Tesla took to save costs. It is a passive form of driver monitoring, which no self-respecting self driving software should employ. They should have put in active driver monitoring which almost all other competing self-driver technologies...

CCS - buy now or wait?

All third party adapters have been reported to be working fine. I believe an adapter like this one is not particularly hard to make so companies that have been making only phone mounts and steering weights also jumped in when they saw this opportunity because of Tesla not providing their own CSS...

If the weights are from a different company brand — it may just work. I’ll try that.

will enhanced autopilot or FSD help drive itself from Newark airport to Manhattan to Queens without getting lost?

If you have FSD then using Navigate On AutoPilot it will drive all highways along the route, taking exits and highway interchanges by itself. I have done Newark airport 78 to Queens (involving 6 highways GA Pkway, I-78, I-95, BQE and Cross Bronx Parkway) and also from Newark to JFK airport via...

CCS - buy now or wait?

Actually, I found non-Tesla chargers to be sometimes free. In my last long drive the two times I went for non-Tesla chargers (Electrify America) , they offered free charging). I have now done $50 of free charging to date. In few more trips it will pay off my $250 costs.

Please raise a service request. Someone from Tesla will look at your logs and tell you what caused those disengagement us. Thanks

Lectron adapter now only $128. Remember, Lectron is a company which is making third party Tesla chargers/adapters for years.

First Long Drive - autopilot problems

Thanks. Your complaint was about AP disengagement and Tesla reply talks about Automatic Emergency Braking. Not sure even if it thinks if it were an emergency braking situation, why would it penalize you and disable AP for the rest of the drive.
  19. W

First Long Drive - autopilot problems

I get that at 10 minute mark — never before 10 minute mark and in the meantime it’d change the lanes, take exits or highway interchanges itself. So, auto lane change doesn’t seem to make any difference.
  20. W

First Long Drive - autopilot problems

What did you write in your complaint?
  21. W

First Long Drive - autopilot problems

I suggest asking for Service. Meanwhile, the only work around I found was to disengage and reengage AP once every 10 minutes. In between wiggling the steering or holding on sometimes works and sometimes it doesn’t. I have been disconnected 5 times without warning—each time after an interval of...

First Long Drive - autopilot problems

I have been shown red steering 5 times in 3 days. Four times when I was wearing dark sun glasses.
  23. W

    36.X and Steering Wheel Weight?

I agree. Actually, Tesla nagging is very unsafe. I have driven over 40K hands free on other cars (Open Pilot, Super Cruise etc) and found them to be far safer than Tesla. In my case whatever I do Tesla would not detect the pressure of my hand and constantly nag me. Moreover, it has a rigid...

First Long Drive - autopilot problems

Schedule a service. There may be something wrong with your camera. I contacted Tesla for the exact same problem and they scheduled a mobile service next week.

    36.X and Steering Wheel Weight?

I noticed a pattern in my case. It’d kick me out without warning after 10 or 20 minutes of driving. All started happening after 36.6. I tried few things. My work around is now to disengage and reengage after 9 minutes (I had a 9 minutes snooze on Apple Watch). I found that disengaging and...

First Long Drive - autopilot problems

Started happening after 2022.36.6. Kicked me out 4 times without warning. I saw it happening after 10 minutes. Now on Navigate on AutoPilot, I disengage and reengage once every ten minutes.
  27. W

    36.X and Steering Wheel Weight?

So, after 30 minutes, it’d disengage your AP without warnings —even though you were touching the wheel every few minutes or so? In the past it’d never disengage without a warning. Previously, I’d get a warning on some rides every 10 minutes or so and on others no warnings for hours. Now it is...

    My experience with FSD beta

Have you driven on Navigate On Autopilot for more than 20 minutes? I am seeing the same issue, albeit after 10 or 20 minutes of driving. It is always at 10 or 20 minute mark. It’d suddenly kick you out without warning.
  29. W

    My experience with FSD beta

AutoPilot can be used every where. Before Tesla I have been using Open Pilot. My driving is now on AP type technologies. It drives most of the time, except for turns, which you have to negotiate yourself. Tesla also has Navigate On Autopilot which will take you from one city to another...

    Nervous Nelly [FSD Complaint]

I have noticed that. NoA is flawless in a challenging environment like Toronto and Washington but I saw it less confident on less travelled highways. It has something to do with how it’s machine learning model works.

    Enhanced Autopilot Model S 2022

    36.X and Steering Wheel Weight?

Navigate on AP disengaging after about 20 minutes without any warning. Many non-steering weight drivers are also seeing that issue.

I put in a service request under Infotainment —> Software. They have scheduled a visit on Wednesday.
  34. W

Cabin camera more aggressive in Autopilot 2022.36.2 update?

Yes— Four times. Each time after 20 minutes of driving.
  35. W

Cabin camera more aggressive in Autopilot 2022.36.2 update?

Same here. I only drove once after the upgrade and AP has kicked me out 4 times. I believe warning came so suddenly that I did not have time to respond.

    Road trip report

Driver is fully responsible for driving of the vehicle. In case of Auto-Pilot accident it wouldn’t matter if your hands were on the wheel or not. Neither you can sue Tesla for the shortcomings of Autopilot nor police would slap an extra ticket on you for not holding the wheel. Actually, there...

    Road trip report

There is no such law. GM super cruise, Ford Blue Cruise are all fully hands-free self-driving technologies. Their cars are on California roads for many years with a better safety record than Tesla. The same is true for Open Pilot, a company based in San Diego—which is fully hands free. Of...

Another way to extend your stay at the charger is charge to 100%. That can also take a long while. My MYLR 22 takes over 40 minutes just to go from 99% to 100%. However, there are some chargers, designated as busy chargers, where it will tell you in advance that idling fee will be charged if you...

Road trip feedback with NAV on AutoPilot (Carlsbad, CA to Camarillo, CA)

There is an HOV feature. It is in the Settings of your navigation after you have entered destination. You have to disable Nag somehow. Now it has in cabin monitoring and will nag you when you are inattentive. There is no point of FSD with that nag. I hated it myself until I got rid of it.

Thanks for sharing. I plan to do a 4000 mile. I have done 1000 miles trip. Let me add my tidbits. I have HeyTrip air mattress augmented by a thin layer of memory foam. How to extend Mobile connector for family visit

I had a similar problem but the places I visit have different types: 14-50, 14-30, and 5-15/20. I thought the best was to get Lectron Extension made for Tesla mobile connector. It extends your mobile connector and let you have any type of Tesla adapter at the other end...

Is there remote controller for media on infotainment?

Unfortunately, other than volume +- other App buttons (Play/Pause, Next/FWD, Prev/RWD) don’t work in Netflix and YouTube. It is hard to watch a movie without these features enabled and remotely available.
  48. W

Is there remote controller for media on infotainment?

I found the App. shows Play/Pause buttons in Camp mode.
  49. W

Is there remote controller for media on infotainment?

I like to watch movies in Camp mode on Infotainment but found it unable to control media apps like Netflix from the back.” ( usually on mattress) Is there a remote controller available for Infotainment? Ideally, Tesla App should have that Remote like App TV or Fire TV remote app.
