Agreed, in a cold Canadian winter 150km is really 75km of actual range.

    Ontario EVIP rebates update

Just got email saying that my application has been approved and cheque will be mailed. :) Took delivery on June 7 2018 and submitted my application early morning on June 8.

Ontario EV Rebates Cancelled July 11, 2018

FYI, here's what the email automatic reply looked like when I submitted my application. I was worried because the total size of my PDF attachments was huge (over 10MB) so I was happy to get the auto-reply. Hello, Your email to the Electric Vehicle Incentive Program has been received. Should...

    The case for 120V 15A (12A) charging

Thank you everyone for all of your helpful comments! :) I finally got my NEMA 14-50 outlet installed in my garage yesterday so I'm good to go now but it's nice to know that worst case if I have no other option, 12A @ 120V is not too bad in summer weather. I've bookmarked @Doug_G 's Cold Weather...

    Tesla supercharger available slot accuracy?

I questioned myself at the time especially since it was my first experience with a Tesla and superchargers. So, I pressed on the icon to get the full details where it said "X of X stalls available". Turns out I was reading it right.

What do you hate about your M3?

I don’t have EAP so I don’t think it was that and I was just going straight in my lane. It was definitely weird almost like being on a boat bobbing in the waves.
  9. Rlhm3

    The case for 120V 15A (12A) charging

Yikes! If this is true then Tesla should be mentioning this to customers since they are including that adapter. I thought the 80% rule was good enough whereby the car draws 12A maximum on a 15A circuit.

    International Centre delivery experiences

No need to worry, mine disappeared too for about 12 hours but I was told it can be for as many as 48 hours.

    Model 3 harmonic bounce issue?

Anybody else experience something that felt like the car was bouncing? This happened to me while driving on the 401 but it went away after about a minute. Someone else in the "What do you hate about your M3" thread mentioned that they've experienced it too so decided to create a separate thread...

    The case for 120V 15A (12A) charging

I took delivery on Thursday and still don't have my 30A (22A) plug installed so I've just been charging with a standard household 15A(12A) and getting better than expected 8km per hour according to the iPhone app. :)

Model 3 daytime running lights, low beams, high beams auto?

I remember that when I noticed this while driving on the 401, I did turn off AUTO in the lights menu but can't remember if it was for high beams or all lights in general.
  15. Rlhm3

Model 3 daytime running lights, low beams, high beams auto?

No, I haven't done anything aftermarket to the car but will install my locking wheel nuts once I figure out how to remove the aero plastic things.

M3 and rebate in the new FORD era...

I also wanted the AWD but when I got my invite in late April, I made the decision to go with RWD because I knew the odds of the rebate going away were quite high. I think at this point you're at risk of missing out on the rebate if you configure now.

How do I get to the I. Centre from Pearson A/p.

For me, it wasn't about saving a few bucks on cab fare but it's always nice to save if you can. I was super early and the weather was nice outside plus a bit of exercise does the body good.

What do you hate about your M3?

I've only had my Model 3 since 7:30pm yesterday for the drive home to Ottawa from Toronto and these are a few things I noticed: 1. rear view mirror doesn't seem to be auto dimming and also don't seem to have that manual tilt for nighttime so my eyes suffered with lights from cars behind me...

Model 3 daytime running lights, low beams, high beams auto?

As I was driving at night along the 401 and 416 it seemed like the little lights icon changed once in a while from blue with rays pointing forward to green with rays aiming forward but down. I'm guessing this was high beams and low beams? It seemed to be on high beams even when close to another...

    Tesla supercharger available slot accuracy?

On my drive back to Ottawa from Toronto last night I had to stop at the Kingston supercharger. It was strange because as I was driving I kept checking once in a while to see how many available slots there were and it showed full. As I got closer to Kingston it finally showed 1 empty so I was...

Auto Insurance for Model 3 in Canada

There was an Aviva sales booth inside the Tesla delivery room at the Toronto International Centre when I took delivery. It seemed strange to me because we all had to arrange insurance in advance but for those who are still looking for car insurance quotes, here's a photo of the brochure they had:

    International Centre delivery experiences

I took delivery of my Model 3 yesterday. My appointment was at 2:15pm but I got there early at 1:30pm because the Greyhound schedule from Ottawa to Pearson via Scarborough. I simply walked 15 minutes from the airport to the International Centre where I saw a Tesla screen saying to go to entrance...

What was or will be your payment method at delivery?

So, long story short the EFT method does not work in Canada. You must bring a bank draft to pay for your Model 3 at the International Centre in Toronto. It turns out that the some sales advisors in places like California and Las Vegas were assuming this would work in Canada but it doesn't. In...

Southern Ontario license fee should vary based on birth month, no?

Nice work! I also mentioned my opposition to the $200 flat fee during my delivery yesterday and learned that they did it this way because it would have been too complex and time consuming to figure out everyone's unique fee while trying to deliver a huge number of vehicles daily. I explained...

How do I get to the I. Centre from Pearson A/p.

I took delivery yesterday of my Model 3. I simply walked there from Pearson. It only took about 15 minutes along Airport Rd. The key is figuring out which terminal and which floor of the airport to get out on in order to be at street level; It's the bottom floor of terminal 3. I asked airport...

MVPA opens to a blank page???

Nice work! I made a spreadsheet too and am looking forward to seeing if mine matches as well. I'm curious, did they charge you correctly for the license fee or $200?

Link finally appeared for me but blank page when I click on it too. I'm at 2:15pm tomorrow.

Southern Ontario license fee should vary based on birth month, no?

Green plates don't cost more according to the MTO: Get Green Vehicle Licence Plates You can get Green Vehicle licence plates through the normal vehicle plating process at any ServiceOntario centre. There are no extra fees, however as with the purchase of any new licence plates, the regular...

Southern Ontario license fee should vary based on birth month, no?

I'm in November so for $200 hopefully I will get a 2019 sticker or maybe I should tell my SA to charge me $250 and ensure that I get the 2019 sticker.
  31. Rlhm3

Southern Ontario license fee should vary based on birth month, no?

I've been reading posts from those that have taken delivery or got their final balance owning and it seems like Tesla is charging a flat $200. Should it not be based on birth month since in Ontario the plate stickers are valid for 1 year and cost $120? So, if my birthday is in July and Tesla...

    Ottawa Model 3

Wow, that's totally unacceptable especially less than a day from your appointment! I sure hope that Tesla will offer some sort of compensation because we have done many things in preparation such as: arranged to start paying insurance on our delivery day withdrawn a large sum of money in the...

Final Cost required - MVPA Help please?

I’m not sure about the total license fee but the plate sticker portion should vary from person to person. I believe that the other parts of the fee are the plate and the vehicle permit for $59. So, the maximum anyone should be paying is $179 unless you’re born in July and want a 2019 sticker...
  34. Rlhm3

Final Cost required - MVPA Help please?

The license fee should be different for everyone depending on your birth month because it's $10 per month or $120 per year for the sticker. So, if you're born in June then you'll pay the maximum and get a June 2019 sticker. If you're born in July you should only pay $10 for a July 2018...

What was or will be your payment method at delivery?

Thank you for sharing! I hope it works the same for us here in Canada even if they have to do it manually at delivery using the void cheque. It would be even better if we could just enter the banking details in our profiles on tesla.com.
  36. Rlhm3

What was or will be your payment method at delivery?

I called Tangerine and they confirmed that they would allow these kinds of EFT transactions (simply based on void personal cheque routing details) to go through so there isn't a dollar limit. They did put a note on my file though just in case the transaction gets flagged as suspicious. My...
  37. Rlhm3

What was or will be your payment method at delivery?

Yes, I was sceptical so I replied with: "That would be my preference too since I wouldn’t have to request a bank draft a few days before the 7th. So, just to confirm, I simply bring a blank cheque to my appointment and Tesla will pull the entire amount from my account at that time?" and then...
  38. Rlhm3

    Ottawa Model 3

I'm afraid of this scenario too. Please see my posted called "What was or will be your payment method at delivery?" because you might just be able to bring a void personal cheque and they'll do an EFT at delivery.
  39. Rlhm3

What was or will be your payment method at delivery?

In addition to the poll, I wanted to mention that I bank with Tangerine so it takes 2-3 business days for them to courier a bank draft. My inside sales advisor's email stated that my balance owing would be made available 24 hours prior to delivery which is too late for me. So, I asked about...

    The case for 120V 15A (12A) charging

Thank you all for clarifying this for me! It did seem too good to be true. I only have a 100A panel so will go with 30A for my charger. Here's my adjusted charging rate table for 120V @ 15A:

    The case for 120V 15A (12A) charging

I found this table somewhere on the tesla.com site and then made my own version (see second screenshot) specifically for the Model 3 and km/h taking into account the cheaper time-of-use pricing we have in Ontario from 7pm - 7am on weekdays. 17.7km of range per hour is actually pretty good in my...

    International Centre delivery experiences

Just hoping people will share their delivery experiences so that those of us coming after can know what to expect. I’m coming from Ottawa so am not familiar with the facility but it looks huge on Google maps. Will Tesla tell us exactly where to go 24 hours before our appointment? Thanks!

    Locking wheel nuts

I searched the forums and found a post that said these fit the model 3: Gorilla Automotive 78641N Acorn Open End Wheel Locks (14mm X 1.50 Thread Size)-Pack of 4 Around $15 on amazon.ca There are also the official Tesla ones of course for around $65 I think.

Poll for Model 3 Front License Plate holders

Undecided but voted factory since will probably end up being that. Ideally, wouldn’t glue anything to the bumper. Seems like a design oversight by Tesla so I’m glad that aftermarket options are available.

Model 3 PDI (Pre delivery inspection) checklist

With a lot of us in Canada excited about taking delivery of our Model 3s in late May/early June, I thought I'd create a thread about this important aspect of the process. I found checklist link sort of buried in another thread so thank you to whoever made it! Source: Tesla Model 3 Delivery...

    Ottawa Model 3

If you haven't received your invite yet then it's quite strange because I see a lot of posts from people that reserved later than June 2017 including me.

    Ottawa Model 3

Good plan! I was also given the option of the 6th or 7th and wanted to go with as early as possible due to the election incentive uncertainty. Thank you! I might do the same although I see that Air Canada has 15% off right now so just $171. I'm quite frugal so will probably walk from Pearson to...

    Ottawa Model 3

I got my delivery date of June 6th today! Yay! :) So, thinking about how to get to the Toronto International Centre. Some options that come to mind are VIA rail, a one way flight to Pearson, a ride share, etc. I'm hesitant to book a train ticket or flight though in case my delivery date gets...

How many amps are you going with for your Model 3 home charging circuit?

Just curious what people are going with. Car to charge at 80% of the breaker rating.
