MASTER THREAD: Comprehensive Road-Course Modification Guide — Optimizing the 3 for the track

I find the MPP sport coilvoers to be very comfortable still. I have done many long tips in my car with them at a pretty low ride height and have no issues at all to report with ride comfort with the settings on full soft.

Mounted wrong size wheels - they’re now permanently stuck to the car. Disaster [resolved]

Just as the dually truck guys. This is common practice. OP needs a bigger hammer. I have used this hammer to remove stuck wheels before. Hasn't let me down. https://shop.snapon.com/product/Sledge-(Blue-Point)/Dead-Blow-11-lb-8-Ounce-Sledge-Hammer-(Blue-Point)/BC114B

MASTER THREAD: Comprehensive Road-Course Modification Guide — Optimizing the 3 for the track

Dampers are being worked hard there. An interesting bit of bounce under braking and at the rear applying throttle. Bump stop rebound maybe?

MASTER THREAD: Comprehensive Road-Course Modification Guide — Optimizing the 3 for the track

Looking at the UP 4 point I wouldn't want to use it. The harness bar is in the wrong place and the angle of the rear tubes are too steep. I don't understand this design at all. It also appears to rely on the sheer strength of bolts for the lower b pillar point which is is no way legal for...

feedback from individuals running Paragon or Girodisc rotors on M3P for HPDE or track events

Are they rubbing on the inside of the caliper as more heat is generated? Very interesting to see that and must mean that the hat sizing is off. By the look of them they are made by Stoptech so the quality should be good enough.

I could go measure the weight of my factory bars. Would tell me if they are hollow, but won't tell me the wall thickness

If anyone is interested I am selling my unit. Works well, just didn't end up using it.

MASTER THREAD: Comprehensive Road-Course Modification Guide — Optimizing the 3 for the track

Was out at Gridlife Alpine Fest last weekend and took the win in Street Class. I got more aggressive with my alignment for this even and learned some things. 1. I don't like toe out in the rear. There are quite a few guides that say to give the car a bit of tow out in the rear and maybe with...

    Bump Steer Kit ?

I was wondering the same thing. I haven't taken any measurements yet, but I feel bump steer a bit. I have also killed the boots on the factory units.

    MPP Coilover installation verification

What part of Ohio are you in? If you need some help with the car I own a performance shop in Cincinnati that does a lot of work on Teslas. I have the same coilovers on my personal Model 3 that I track regularly and know the cars very well. Let me know if I can help. I have deviated a bit on...

Car wash mode to center the steering wheel?? What's that about?

    My first tire change

Lifting pucks are not at all necessary for jacking or lifting the car with a lift. I work on a lot of these cars at my performance shop and as long as the tech pays attention to the lifting points with a jack or with lift arms it is not a problem. Model 3 is easier to lift on a two post lift...

    My first tire change

I would say that any shop that Anyone who is not a numbskull can easily lift the car on a standard two post lift. Not saying every tech at a tire store is competent.

    My first tire change

Lifting a Tesla is no different than lifting any other car.

Gridlife Street class dictates I cannot run more than 255 tread width.

MASTER THREAD: Comprehensive Road-Course Modification Guide — Optimizing the 3 for the track

Alignments for track! I know this has been discussed, but wanted to revisit now that we have had quite a lot of time to get our cars out there. By the pyrometer I have settled on around -4F and -3R for camber with 0 toe front and about .1* in rear. I find this to be most neutral, but still...

MASTER THREAD: Comprehensive Road-Course Modification Guide — Optimizing the 3 for the track

I keep my steering in comfort on track as the lighter I can grip the wheel with my hands the more feedback I get through it.

Tesla M3P Spacers - marking question

Blueing should not be a thing at all and if they are getting that hot then something in the brake system is having an issue and could explain the vibration.
  22. S

Everything disabled, after bottoming out on a freeway transition

There are definitely G sensors on the car that will do some weird things if it thinks the car has been in an impact. I have bounced off curbs on track and had it do things like this.

Master Thread: Model 3s on the Track / drag strip- Videos, Discussion, Setup, Etc

A bit of video from the Gridlife event at Mid Ohio this weekend. I love driving the Tesla on track and competing with the ICE boys....just need more power. I was 1.5 sec behind them with the same or higher min corner speed, but down 15 mph on the back straight. Papa Elon needs to get on a...

I do not and have since removed it since it didn't have much effect on the specific track driving I do.

MASTER THREAD: Comprehensive Road-Course Modification Guide — Optimizing the 3 for the track

As with most braking issues it comes often down to personal use. Many people don't know how to use brakes properly on track. For those you need more mass. If you are going more than 2-3 hard laps the factory stuff will not work as well. I have ducted the factory calipers with MPP rotors and...

Unplugged Performance Coilovers Model 3 Dual Motor

Probably about 2 as that is the max that these coilovers can go from the 2020 M3P height. They are adjustable though so you can go from factory height to this low.

    Lug Nut Torque

Unless you are using an insanely precise procedure and an insanely accurate torque wrench you are only ever getting it close to 129ftlbs at best. I have a very accurate $800 digital torque wrench that I use for wheels only and even with that it is almost impossible to hit the desired number...

Love this look. What are the specs on the wheels?

Anyone with pics of 18" front and 19" rear?

I would just keep it easy and stick with the same size.
  41. S

Anyone with pics of 18" front and 19" rear?

Can't say I would recommend this. The Corvette runs a much larger diameter rear tire size than front and the ABS system is designed to deal with it. The Tesla is not and finding tires in 18 and 19" that are the same overall diameter is going to be very limiting.

Unplugged Performance Adjustable Front Upper Arms Installed and Thoughts

Master Thread: Model 3s on the Track / drag strip- Videos, Discussion, Setup, Etc

Had a blast at the Gridlife event at NCM a couple weeks ago. Got third overall in Street class which I was happy with considering my lack of power compared to the ICE cars. Down 11mph on the shorter straights that NCM has really hurts my times. Car did really well, but I need to figure out...
