Well I just had an independent certified Tesla shop take a crack at it and they were not able to. Apparently they even reached out to contacts at Tesla. At this point I guess I give up ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Another mobile service appointment, a new tech, another failure. I guess I will have to be patient and continue trying or try other service centers when I’m on road trips.

Teslas fragmentation with support is horrible for customer morale. I’ve asked nicely and explained why so many times but still keep getting the run around :(

The tabs that get bolted down are out in the open and you can just use a sharpie/paint pen through the holes; unless you’re talking about something else and I’m misunderstanding

There is a single bolt/nut (can’t recall which) that hold it on. I’m guessing folks who have done this install the duct, install the filter, then mark where the holes are. Pretty straight forward.

I would say yes, especially if you don’t have the config option for HEPA enabled. The filter is the entire width of the apron opening, so having half closed would impact airflow.

Trust me. I’ve done that. Would you be willing to share a general location of the SC/tech you worked with? The tech who I’m chatting with was curious. I don’t want to get anyone in trouble, which is why I said general; but if you don’t want to say I understand.

I don’t think anyone wants to cause any issues, maybe just see what keywords or verbiage was used. Idk about others but I’d happily pay for a config change and have it done in a way that doesn’t screw a tech/SC

Yes, but not 100% until Tesla is willing to make the config change. And even if they are, you’ll have to get the lights through them which will be much more than the $300-$400 you can get a set on eBay for.

Some have, some have not. I’m unfortunately in the “not” category.

The fan curve is different as well, hopefully one day they’ll allow techs to turn change the config

If I recall, it sits below the speakers (from a photo or two I’ve seen)

Thanks for the insight. It’s harder to justify since I have fairly dark tint for privacy but it helps with cabin noise I might just do it.

Is there anywhere in car you could stash the cover if you end up needing all the extra cargo space unexpectedly? Any update on driving noise?

My mobile tech told me today he could not enable BWD at this point, but that in the future they might be able to. Seems very hit or miss (surprise surprise) on if a tech will do the config change. I totally understand their side though, as they don’t want to be reprimanded. Just a shame Tesla...

I saw on Reddit someone was able to convince a tech to enable BWD mode. They also noted there was an increase in air pressure/speed when just using the “intake fresh air” setting. Time to start smooth talking service/mobile service tech.

Ordered June 11th, they were ready June 20th.

Got all my parts yesterday. The service tech more or less confirmed that there weren’t other parts needed and that the retrofit shouldn’t cause issues. You can clearly tell the decreased flow when using the non recirculate setting, and full fan speed with no recirculate does seem to provide less...

I just asked via my parts request, and was told it’s is not something they can do at this time. I plan to ask next time Mobile service is needed as they seem more willing to bend the rules

Strange, I did service > something else, asked to order the parts, pasted and sent it. They ordered the parts and sent the invoice. It’s a shame Tesla is so disjointed on the SC offerings.

OP said browser in his first post. So Tesla must have updated how long the browser will stay open while driving.

Only thing I can think of is make sure you push them in all the way. I’ve only had mine fall out one time and that was after weeks of opening and closing the door.

Those are the Matrix LED projector headlights. They won't work with your car, which I'm assuming is a LR Model Y.

Just did a 2,200 mile trip and only brought whats always in my car - mobile charger, jack pads, tire pump/patch and emergency kit. Didn't use any of them. Road trips with this car/the supercharger network are amazing.
