If I remember correctly, if you pair your Tesla to the Hansshow instead of to your phone, the phone audio will come from the Hansshow. It has a tiny speaker and has very poor quality sound.

I'm unclear how any firmware/software updates from Hansshow are downloaded if we don't have a SIM card in the unit. Can anyone clarify?

That's correct. The top half extends beyond the top of the carpet. FWIW there is also a grounding point nearby to the right of it, under the carpet.

BTW, my 2022 M3LR has the large rubber grommet at the top edge of the passenger foot-well carpet. There is a separate matching rubber grommet on the firewall side. I went through both of them to install the power lead from my Hansshow 4G display to the positive terminal of my Li-ion battery.

I replaced mine at the one year mark (and 13k mi), and the factory filters weren't very dirty and there was no smell at all. When I got the car a year ago I did install a grille over the air intake in the frunk to prevent debris getting to the filters.

It may have a minor impact on air flow, but I haven't noticed any difference.
