Driving my crazy - car charging itself

Presumably you haven't "scheduled" charging on any of your apps?

Did a wood dash trim delete today

I never liked the wood dash and ordered mine with white. After tinting my windows I got so much refection of the dash when looking in my side mirror that I covered the white dash with CF, which I think looks much better. Also did my door accents to match. Not authentic, but does the trick for...

New Hansshow Android 10.25 inch instrument cluster/display install and review

If I remember correctly, if you pair your Tesla to the Hansshow instead of to your phone, the phone audio will come from the Hansshow. It has a tiny speaker and has very poor quality sound.

    Hansshow HUD/Carplay/Android Auto solution

I'm unclear how any firmware/software updates from Hansshow are downloaded if we don't have a SIM card in the unit. Can anyone clarify?

Possible to sort albums on Tidal?

Tesla provides terrible sorting features on Tidal. It doesn't even offer shuffle play.

    Periodic charging or?

I'm an engineer, but you guys have left me far behind. My favorite Dafish line was "charge nightly, and call it a day". That appeals to me.

Interesting. I'm curious how the underside is finished. I presume it is CF like the top side?

New Hansshow Android 10.25 inch instrument cluster/display install and review

Interesting. Yes, I just realized yesterday that incoming phone call audio was going to my Beats Fit Pro even when they weren't in my ears, and I didn't know why. However, if they are in their charge case, my phone audio stays with the phone.

Recommendation on tires for model 3 long range

They are smaller diameter than original 235/45 tires (-2.3%). The 245/45 is only 1.5% larger than 235/45.

Arbitration decision of my PCS dispute

Wow. $205/hr. Do they qualify for high voltage danger pay? Or is that what all shops charge these days?

Website said I don't have access to that file. I presume the PCS is under the back seat cushion and rear portion of trunk floor?

Wire gauge (AWG) for HPWC (Telsa Wall Connector)

Not sure why you'd use a 40A breaker on 6/3. With 6/3 romex you could have used a 50A breaker, giving you 40amp max current (using 80% rule). My car is set to charge at 40amps on 6/3 romex to my Tesla Wall charger and it has worked great for a year now. I have an additional 14-50 NEMA charge...

Help passing cable through firewall on a 22

That's correct. The top half extends beyond the top of the carpet. FWIW there is also a grounding point nearby to the right of it, under the carpet.

Help passing cable through firewall on a 22

BTW, my 2022 M3LR has the large rubber grommet at the top edge of the passenger foot-well carpet. There is a separate matching rubber grommet on the firewall side. I went through both of them to install the power lead from my Hansshow 4G display to the positive terminal of my Li-ion battery.

Two Weeks with a Model 3 Performance

I replaced mine at the one year mark (and 13k mi), and the factory filters weren't very dirty and there was no smell at all. When I got the car a year ago I did install a grille over the air intake in the frunk to prevent debris getting to the filters.

It may have a minor impact on air flow, but I haven't noticed any difference.

Two Weeks with a Model 3 Performance

Interesting writeup. I had four 911's over the past 15-20 years, as well as a MBZ CLK55AMG and Audi RS3 and as much as I enjoyed all those cars, I'm amazed, after a year of ownership, to find myself being so happy with my M3LR (with acceleration boost). I love the responsiveness, the absence...

    Navigation Unreliable

For long trips I have always used ABRP, as it minimizes overall travel time in suggesting more frequent stops but shorter stops so that time isn't wasted trying to charge (slowly) above 70 or 80% SOC. I particularly like that with ABRP you can stipulate your desired minimum state of charge when...

Wall charger [should I keep the wall connector or use mobile connector for my situation?]

I fully concur with the need for the more expensive and much safer Hubble type receptacle. The cheap ones are not safe for this application, as shown in numerous YT videos. I am not understanding why a GFCI breaker would be required, unless it is simply a more recent requirement of the...

Wall charger [should I keep the wall connector or use mobile connector for my situation?]

I will only add that I installed a wall charger on the side wall right opposite where my charge port on the car is located, and I really love the convenience of getting out of the car, pulling the charge cable end off the wall charger and plugging it into the car 3 feet away, and leaving the car...

Here is the quoted advice about iPhone settings: "When you are using carplay, if you want to route your calls through the car or speaker as default, you'll need to go to iPhone setup>accessibility > touch > call audio routing > set to Bluetooth headset which will then default to any Bluetooth...

    Car doesn't walk-away lock

Thanks. Makes sense I guess. Although ironically when I first got my car a year ago it thought I was charging away from home (showed "other") on charge info. I found it was because the Google location of my home address was about 70 feet from my garage location. I had Google move their...

    Car doesn't walk-away lock

Thanks, but I do take my phone with me when I leave the car. I can only assume the car thinks the tennis courts are my second home. :) Actually, they are not far from my home as the crow flies (say about 1000 feet. I'll experiment with parking in nearby locations to the courts to see if the...

    Car doesn't walk-away lock

New Hansshow Android 10.25 inch instrument cluster/display install and review

I think I finally have my unit working properly and quite consistently. My iPhone is paired with the Tesla screen via BT, and most of the time my CarPlay automatically connects with the Hansshow display, all within about 10 seconds of getting in the car. All sound is coming out of the Tesla...

Is this Model 3 LR AWD totaled

A relative of mine is an insurance adjuster, and says that the cost of repairs on Teslas is crazy expensive, especially parts costs. With the lowered value in the past few months, it seems likely that it is easier to "total" a Tesla now than perhaps a year ago.

Do I need permit for Tesla Wall Charger if I already installed a permitted 14-50 Outlet?

The only difference is that using the Tesla Charger as shown frees up your Tesla power cord to be carried in the car in case you need to use it away from home. BTW, my only problem with plugging the Tesla Charger into the Nema receptacle rather than hard wiring the charger is that there is an...

Do I need permit for Tesla Wall Charger if I already installed a permitted 14-50 Outlet?

Furthermore, those cheap Leviton receptacles available for $10 or $20 at Home Depot have a record of overheating due to their plastic housing, steel contacts, and poor screw clamp design. You need to use the more robust 14-50 receptacle made by Hubbell or Kellems that use bakelite housings...

Do I need permit for Tesla Wall Charger if I already installed a permitted 14-50 Outlet?

A 60amp circuit will require #4 conductors, which is much more expensive than #6. The WiFi control of the Wall Charger is only beneficial if you have 2 chargers sharing a common circuit. For normal charging with one charger, you control the charging via your phone app communicating directly...

Yes, I think I've seen people complain about recently intoduced factory wireless CarPlay in other vehicles such as Audi. I think the BT technology is still somewhat unstable.

Master Thread: Definitive 14-50 NEMA Outlet Guide

Agree with other responses re replacing the breaker with a 40A. Just curious why the electrician used 8 gauge wire with a 50amp breaker, which is a code violation given that the breaker is there to protect the conductors (applying the 80% rule). So the electrician screwed up IMO, and should...

Do I need permit for Tesla Wall Charger if I already installed a permitted 14-50 Outlet?

I would hope they don't charge more than 2 hours of labor to remove the nema receptacle and mount/connect the Tesla wall charger. The only catch may be that the length of conductors to properly mount the Tesla wall charger are typically longer than what is needed for the Nema receptacle due to...

Best way to precondition for retired people

The above statement seems to suggest that cabin heating will heat the battery. My understanding from your earlier post was that the battery won't be heated (either when scheduling Precondition or just turning on Climate) unless the battery temperature is very low (below 44F?), or unless you...

    Uberturbine Aero Covers

I ordered a set on Jan 21 and they arrived yesterday (Jan 26) even though the order wasn't processed for a couple of days and I was then given a 5-day delivery date of Jan 29. I like them. Thanks for the heads up.

Best way to precondition for retired people

I typically schedule a pre-conditioning whenever I know I'll be leaving at a certain time. The main benefit is having a warm interior. I just wish I could select it for a one-time even rather than picking either weekdays or weekends, as I sometimes forget to turn it off after my one-time event...

Questions About Hansshow Android 4G 10.25-inch Tesla Model 3 Y Instrument Cluster Heads Up Display

See my responses (IN CAPS) in your message above. It appears you either have a faulty camera or faulty cable or faulty connection in the cable. Good luck with it. I find the camera very useful.

Discussion: Large price reduction Across Tesla vehicle family 1.12.2023

While I paid more for my 22 M3LR a year ago than someone buying one now, I also benefited from selling my previous car at an amazingly good price. Anyone buying during the higher prices was apparently willing to pay that higher price at that time.

Adding 50 amp breaker to 100 amp sub panel

Agree with StopCrazyPP's advice. I'm curious why those 30amp breakers aren't labeled on the panel door. But hopefully those other loads are not scheduled when you want to charge your car. Mine is programmed for after midnight. But I know there are no other large loads being imposed overnight...

Questions About Hansshow Android 4G 10.25-inch Tesla Model 3 Y Instrument Cluster Heads Up Display

Yes, a SIM is not required for any of the functions. The SIM is only helpful if you don't subscribe to Tesla's premium connectivity. The Hansshow is getting the CarPlay info from your phone, and to me it provides a convenient way to select the CarPlay items without having to do it on your...

How many [lifetime] miles do you have?

2022 M3LR (Ryzen) with acceleration boost, 13,146mi in 12 months of ownership. Mostly charged at home on Tesla wall charger. No problems to date. All tires have 7/32 remaining tread, and performed well in cold and snow conditions we had in Dec. Having owned numerous Porsche 911s, AMGs, Audi...

Questions About Hansshow Android 4G 10.25-inch Tesla Model 3 Y Instrument Cluster Heads Up Display

Interesting steering wheel. Where did you get it? I know the Hansshow has a small speaker (useless IMO), but didn't know it had a microphone too. Seems the microphone wouldn't be in an ideal location to pick up your voice. But I'm not familiar with using the 4G feature.
