Ford will add NACS to next gen EVs!

No need to be sorry. Based on the other articles and specifically the Ford CEO interviews, I'm still assuming them. Grin. In fact, I'd go so far as to assume that Ford also ends up using the Tesla induction charger that leaked.

Ford will add NACS to next gen EVs!

Besides being able to Supercharge, I assume that 2025 Ford EVs will also be able to L2 AC charge on standard Tesla home chargers and destination chargers. I also assume that Ford's current and future plans to do vehicle to whatever (V2G, V2H, V2L, etc.) will be done over NACS. I wonder if the...

Is Tesla software limiting the launch and 0-60 times of the refreshed non plaid model s/x ?

I can't comment on what you feel like charges hard. This thread could have been really short. In fact it could have been one line: Is Tesla software limiting the launch and 0-60 times of the refreshed non plaid model s/x ? Yes. Tesla Torque limits the non plaid below the plaid. Agreed

Is Tesla software limiting the launch and 0-60 times of the refreshed non plaid model s/x ?

They ARE being limited for marketing reasons. That's what price differentiated means. Can we go double or nothing from your previous bets?
  7. Krash

Is Tesla software limiting the launch and 0-60 times of the refreshed non plaid model s/x ?

Its torque limited. Just like all Teslas have been torque limited for ten years. Each model has different torque limits set to price differentiate the cars and reduce warranty costs.
  8. Krash

Is Tesla software limiting the launch and 0-60 times of the refreshed non plaid model s/x ?

0-60 it wouldn't matter if the weight were the same, but that isn't what you said. You said... Look at the power graph. If you just could magically increase the max power of the old motors to the max power of the new motors you would still have the BackEMF decline in power at higher speeds. But...

Discussion: HW.4 Suite - Availability, retrofit, suitability etc.

No, each manufacturing location's VINs aren't sequential off the assembly line. And likely not every line will switch to HW4 at the same time. So there will be a VIN at each location before which all are HW3, a range above which all are HW4, and a range in the middle where you have to check...

Is Tesla software limiting the launch and 0-60 times of the refreshed non plaid model s/x ?

The cars have a speed limit as well as a torque and power limit. You are mistaken if you think that is the only purpose of the carbon wrap. No. If the LR had three, four or six motors it would still go the same speed for a bit, but only if the torque and power limits were set to the current LR...

How to tell if new car has HW4?

VINs get assigned before the manufacturing line, so there is a range of VINs at which a feature can't be had, a range at which it is always had, and a gray area where you aren't sure which feature you're getting.
  12. Krash

Is Tesla software limiting the launch and 0-60 times of the refreshed non plaid model s/x ?

There is more than a slight difference. The non-carbon wrapped versions have significant higher speed power limiting due to back EMF. Tesla could get higher maximum speeds with different gearing, but without the carbon wraps it takes a long time to get to those speeds.

Anyone planning to color wrap your CT?

You want to treat the stainless (like bluing) or wrap it? Very different processes give you that same look. You can’t dip the whole car in black oxide, but I’m sure creative people will find a way to get uniform color. As for color matching repairs and fixing scratches, anyone familiar with...

Is Tesla software limiting the launch and 0-60 times of the refreshed non plaid model s/x ?

The fact that the LRS and previous PS have a flat spot on this graph means that those motors could handle more power but are Max_Power limited (i.e. battery amp limited). That the other motors don’t have the flat spot means that Tesla learned not to over engineer the motors for the currently...

Is Tesla software limiting the launch and 0-60 times of the refreshed non plaid model s/x ?

This analysis is excellent except for the above statement. At low speeds the torque is limited by a max torque setting. The plaid doesn’t reach the max power limit for several seconds as shown in that graph. Great find on the ratios. And… We know that Teslas are software limited. We’ve known...

What else can break on my 2014 Model S?

Interesting that my mid 2017 only had, from your list, the MCU previously and only needs brakes at 130k miles. The driver’s door panels they’ve comped a couple times but not gotten right. Tesla must have comped the 12v without telling me as 6 years is a long time for that to last. At how many...

    Are lifting pucks necessary?

A few notes and a question: Don't forget to ask for your pucks back at the tire shop. I lost a set that way. Use jack stands at home. Lost a friend that way. In a pinch, some regular scissor car jacks will fit under the jack points sideways (i.e. so that the part you turn faces the tire rather...

When you bought your first Tesla?

One Once No I had read about them. I saw the original nosecone S featured at a business event and said, if they ever fix the front I’m buying one of those. Similarly when I saw the headlights on the 3 I said, if they ever fix those I’ll buy another. So maybe in October.

What else can break on my 2014 Model S?

Interesting. Thank you. A bit off topic, but do you know how to pull on the option codes on your car? Super curious if you got a DU01 drive unit that would update that code. More on my curiousity here.

What else can break on my 2014 Model S?

At what mileage and years were the drive units replaced? Your example lends itself towards the theory that high mileage cars are better in many ways.

Is Tesla software limiting the launch and 0-60 times of the refreshed non plaid model s/x ?

Ingenext are doing something similar and let you use different settings, but I think they are only using settings previously predefined by Tesla and not, say, dialing your torque or power limits up by say a variable few percentages. You used to be able to see these values in diagnostic mode...

Is Tesla software limiting the launch and 0-60 times of the refreshed non plaid model s/x ?

In case anyone missed it, the answer to original question is yes… Is Tesla software limiting the launch and 0-60 times of the refreshed non plaid model s/x ? Every Tesla model is both torque and power limited. Both for positioning (differentiation) purposes as well as to limit warranty...

Reuters: "Tesla readies revamped Model 3 with project 'Highland' -sources" [projected 3rd quarter 2023]

I’m kind of surprised they don’t reuse half castings for multiple cars, at least for different model cars that are the same width. It is rumored that eventually there will be a single integrated casting (connected front and rear) when the cars get smaller and the casting machines get bigger.

Reuters: "Tesla readies revamped Model 3 with project 'Highland' -sources" [projected 3rd quarter 2023]

Why? I would think all new high volume cars would have both two castings and structural packs, since those are big cost savings at scale.

I’ve lost two tires to potholes on 200 S in Salt Lake in the last month, one 19” winter on a slipstream and one 21” summer on an arachnid. Luckily the rims survived. I’ll be driving with one of each on the right side for a few days as a sign of my appreciation for the road crews.
