    Octopus Energy Saving Sessions

I used precisely 0kWh during the session & apparently earned 9p based on our average usage. This is my second highest payout since the first saving session last year. It's also a timely reminder to chastise my wife for a target based on her ongoing extravagance compared to my iron will in...

Model 3 LR RWD or Model Y LR AWD

It's a non-starter for most over here, only LHD now available in an RHD country.

Model 3 LR RWD or Model Y LR AWD

Yes, for practical reasons I prefer the Y but the 3 was definitely a more engaging drive.

    Tesla Vision

Yes, I'm 'inflicted' with it and the only area of almost 'parity' is when reversing with a clean rear camera in daylight (excepting low sun) or good lighting. Rear distance measurements are now improved and vision is OK with the three camera feeds plus mirrors. Kerb identification is also useful...

    Tesla Vision

Although you were replying to another poster, I think that may be at the root of many of the discussions here. Yes, I am more of a glass half full sort of a person & try to look for the best in life so on that basis I still regard both Teslas I have owned as the best cars overall that I've...

    Tesla Vision

Cameras are compromised by dirt build up, spider webs, low sun, darkness, condensation, grease, lens chips etc none of which can be cured by software updates. Cars without sensors can therefore never achieve parity with those that do (& apart from the smoke and mirrors world that Tesla inhabits...

Wiki Everything you wanted to know about Intelligent Octopus But Were Afraid To Ask

I wish Octopus had changed the 'use an IO smart charge at least once per month' to 'mandatory or you will be removed from the tariff'. Many of us also have PV and batteries and still manage to use IO exactly as it was intended (and without having any impact on house battery SOC if researched...

    So… Highland is out…

The settings I have always used may be worth trying before you give up on Autopilot. The last time I had a serious braking incident was back in 2020 (about 25k miles ago in my original Tesla, a Model 3). I always use AP with my right foot above the accelerator and do very occasionally get a...

So I tried camping in the car for one night......

In July I used camp mode in the Model Y for the first time. A very comfortable night - front seats remained in their normal positions (I’m 5’10”) including easy entry but there was still room for a full length sleeping bag & foam base, climate at 16C, fan at the lowest setting & the car...

Sounds like standard Tesla bull#hit to me - fog hovers close to the ground & low fog lights are designed to shine down, illuminating the road beneath the fog.

What do you do (admin and members if they know) when a forum member passes away?

The issue with web forums is that 'we know' each other but we don't really know the real person, just an Avatar or an impression based on the tone of someones postings etc. With very few exceptions we don't even share an actual photograph, therefore when someone passes away it is pot luck...

My experience taking Tesla to court about FSD

I already posted elsewhere saying pretty much the same. Whereas I believe your car does have USS, mine doesn't but in all other respects our Model Y LRs should be similar & I haven't had a single severe phantom braking incident on AP during the first 10k miles. Just a handful of gentle slow...

Almost the same for me however we do still export a considerable amount via the second set of panels but no easy way to differentiate the FIT part from the rest because the Smart meter will only record the total. British Gas manage my FIT. Initially it was very efficient and prompt then a...

My experience taking Tesla to court about FSD

Early adopters have every right to feel aggrieved and it's great to see this positive result, I hope this will inspire many more to do the same. It's par for the course that Tesla still offer something so cynically marketed as Full Self Driving in the UK. However it's disappointing to see new...

    Buyer beware

Probably because the 42kW battery is restricted to 37kW at 100% so that's why we always let it charge to 'full' (~88% max). I don't find that to be an issue. The most annoying thins is having to remember the on-off dash button when exiting the car.

Myenergi was shown as part of the initial IO/Tesla sign up right from the beginning & I have used a Zappi since I joined the tariff in January 2022. It has always worked without fault (or gremlins).

Newbie - questions about the Model Y

The Model Y always had privacy glass as far as I can see (& the rear windows on my December 22 YLR also seem to have some sort of laminated glass which looks virtually identical to the front windows, it's also a double layer).

My solution is to fold the centre armrest whenever either of the errant ladies are due to occupy the rear seats (with the added benefit that greasy, glittery, flesh coloured smears from the sister-in-laws' exposed limbs remain on a generally hidden-from-view part of the car until later...

My gas meter frequently drops connection to the Electricity meter for up to 10 days at a time since May so before the billing cycle I send Octopus a request (via X/Twitter) for them to 'pull' the data. On each occasion I get a prompt reply that they are doing that & then the data appears...

    So… Highland is out…

It's the reason why I will never add anything that connects to the CANBUS. Tesla are known for being generally unsympathetic towards customers & frequently look for reasons to avoid responsibility, especially as they hold all the cards in terms of detailed historical data.

Yet here in Boise this morning, two really nice drip coffees (refills, inc organic cream) & large mixed fruit scones in a cafe we've frequented for many years were only $10.05 & well deserving of a tip even though this too wasn't table service. ...but grocery (& restaurant prices even before...

    So… Highland is out…

...this level of trust in the cameras? I like my Tesla but will never trust anything based on Tesla Vision over my own eyes - not for reversing let alone slamming into an 'unseen' vehicle beside me because a little red dot suggests it's OK.

    [uk specific] Software 2023.32

Yes, whenever my wife or her sister are seated in an outer rear seat & rest a hand on the centre section this causes the warning. Very little pressure needs to be applied & I believe this changed with a fairly recent update as it never happened with the Model 3 or previously with the Y.
  45. Drew57

    So… Highland is out…

With various leaks via the service manual it is suggested there may be a forthcoming ludicrous M3 including sport seats based on the Model S. In other models 'ludicrous' is a step-up in performance so probably worth waiting to see (if wipers, poor matrix lights, vision without sensors, no...

Yes, I am staying with our family in Idaho now & with the ex rate barely above $1.2/£ basically everything is costing even more than May when we were last here. Oh for 2008 or anything pre Brexit when we used to see up to $2.0/£ (& by the way, Tesla have unilaterally disabled FSD Beta on the...

Maximum length extension cable for use with granny charger?

    OEM apps

I can confirm that wipers, indicators and sensors work just as we should expect - unlike the Tesla offerings. As do the on-screen coloured reverse assist lines - more helpful than the Tesla offering. The Fiat version of Autopilot is also very good, no bongs and it stays engaged as you change...
