8 months old USA MYLR7 to UK

Put the car in storage/lend it so someone then get a rental/lease vehicle if needed for duration of your visit. Or… Buy a second hand car and sell at end of stay. Or, as in case of my wife’s family, get employer to buy you a car then they can sell it at the end. When they tried to ship...

    Fronts Windscreen keeps steaming up

We were parked up this afternoon. When we got back in the car a bit of misting lower windscreen passenger side but it cleared very quick on auto. I noticed other cars parked at same location were totally misted up - far worse than ours. The moment sun started going down temperature started to...

Has anyone had Front Upper Control Arms replaced for free out of warranty?

Did they actually use them? Did you get a chance to see the difference? Quite reasonable cost if ours goes again a couple of years out or warranty and it’s a long term fix. Would be rather pissed off if it, as has happened so far, front suspension needed replacement parts every couple of years.

    12v socket not working

Above. When I was looking at tyre inflators, many drew a current higher than the rated continuous of the 12v socket. Also, is the 12v socket on later cars actually 12v. You might get ~ 14v on an ICE if running the engine, but worth checking voltage delivered and inflator range.

According to cars registered on TeslaFi (a very representative number of vehicles), you are on the version that the majority of vehicles are on. Nothing odd about your car - quite the opposite. 2023.44.x is the current odd one out, and very possibly for a good reason, that its unfinished so...

    UK FSD Discussion

That shows a complete misunderstanding of what Level 3 is. Level 3 does not define absolute (financial) legal liability nor does it, or Level 4, define what types of roads, weather, time of day etc etc that autonomy is available. Whether or not those limitations are acceptable to the purchaser...

    UK FSD Discussion

I suspect many correctly believe that full autonomy starts at Level 3 and that flawless level 5 which some think is what FSD is all about is not a necessary end game needed for the purchase of FSD. Many, including myself, would be more than happy if Tesla achieved level 3 for divided highways...

Is this frunk going to cost me?

I’ve not looked at the video, but could it be frozen. Our boot froze stuck closed yesterday ironically just as I was heading to the Gummi Pfledge that I should have applied a couple of week ago but was too wet at the time.

    Autopilot /Adaptive cruise getting worse

I had a similar experience mid drive, except the trigger me me was an autopilot disengagement rather a stop. AP lane changes were working perfectly until I went to move back from whence I came only to find a car had just moved into my blind spot at which point lane change bailed on me. From...

And swap TACC or AP with a speed limiter function. Or even add a third press for all three.

    Autopilot /Adaptive cruise getting worse

Or may be the same behaviour that many others have started to see the last few major releases. If I was a betting man that’s where I would put my money.

Have you gone back to previous minor version release note? The main release note only show the changes for that particular version eg 38.9 but if you then select to see all release notes for .38.x then it will show the intermediate ones. Sounds like sone extra functionality was added between...

Probably because some driver has caused a blip in that section and the system is suggesting a revised speed to help clear the issue that that driver caused. What is needed is to better educate the minority that cause the problem in the first place, rather than more tech to fix the problems that...

I’ve queried the numbers from the system that controls the smart motorway speeds (SMCALO) and been shown the proofs (heat maps) to show that the throughput for the whole motorway section is better than non controlled flow. We have a section of motorway near here that seems to be always be 40mph...

do you think that the user settings for single tap TACC/AP might open up the possibility of adding an additional user option for speed limiter? ie speed limiter or tacc and/or autosteer. I’m not familiar with the new change and what, if any, is implemented now to know how things have changed...

Having the car automatically sit half way between follow car and following car would dramatically traffic throughput on busy roads. The simulation I was in discussion about was using driving styles that for a human would be highly dangerous even if they did have the skill to achieve. I’m...

Is that your argument for FSD beta not being legal in this country? Wind back to early days of FSD beta, the car could not proceed through traffic lights without human intervention. This is exactly the same functionality that we already have with FSD stop line control. So it sounds like one of...

I was privy to some scientifically undertaken simulation results regarding human drivers mixing with autonomous vehicles, including dedicated autonomous vehicle lanes. The big takeaway that I had was that it only took one human driver mixing with other autonomous vehicles to have a detrimental...

So what be illegal about FSD City Streets beta [software] that is not already covered by existing implemented restrictions if minor tweaks to behaviour that may already be a Tesla configuration switch? Its been a while since I’ve looked at r79, which is what would cover L2 driver assist, but...

    UK FSD Discussion

FSD in UK is only designed for divided highways with controlled entry/exit and no vulnerable road users (pedestrians, cyclists etc. ). Ie motorways and some major A roads. Its behaviour outside of those roads is purely coincidental. That said, its behaviour on those types of roads is also...

    Seat occupancy sensor fault?

Screen goes off if no one is sitting in drivers seat and another door is closed. I find it quite frustrating as a passenger who is setting up a nav/adjusting audio etc before the driver gets in the car but has just put something in the rear. Slight work around/test of seat occupancy is when...

No it’s not. You have to hold the wheel and indicate to change lanes/take intersections, remain vigilant at all times, step in when it gets things wrong and be held fully responsible for the car.

    Octopus Energy Saving Sessions

Don’t you get charged according to supply rating though? So you pay more for being able to consume more power in addition to cost of energy? I guess it’s how the standing charge is priced. In England it once wasn’t uncommon to pay a standing charge for each metered phase.

So, if Tesla announce a doubling of the FSD price with a couple of days notice, to be followed by FSB City Streets beta rollout in UK (with some regulatory differences to what they have in North America) that only applies to FSD (not EAP or basic autopilot), will anyone then take the plunge to...

    Tesla Alternative?

And what cost did Tesla promise for the Model 3 ahead of launch and what did it really cost when launched?
  39. MrBadger

Model 3 LR RWD or Model Y LR AWD

Hold that thought. If your ‘other trips to customers’ is lots of multiple shortish trips then that might have a disproportionate effect on range. In short, eg 10 x 20 mile trips will use more energy than a single 200 mile trip to the point that you may be using 300 miles of battery range.

About to leave warranty - any recommendations? Should I get a service?

Also many owners get their cars faults fixed even if it might have taken a few visits. So a car delivered with defects (as Tesla don’t PDI them before customer takes delivery so they get to see warts and all) does not mean it’s still got them.

Wales to introduce 20mph default speed limit

South West London was my previous life so I knew the roads like back of my hand. I still visit every few months. Many boroughs implemented 20mph zones a number of years ago. Ignoring the ULEZ debate, speed cameras right after a speed limit change and crazy bus priority lanes, these roads are...

Center Parcs / Vend Electric charging

How did you get it to charge your card rather than preload/topup wallet? Only option that I see is to topup ‘wallet’ with a set amount. Doesn’t seem to be any difference selecting PAYG or Wallet. No option that I can see to add payment details without going through the topup wallet screen. I’ll...

Thread for the most minor of suggestions

Similar request. Ignore minor roads. In UK, minor roads, often single track in places, typically have a national 60mph limit. That usually makes them on paper faster than surrounding major roads so nav will select them as fastest route, even though you are unlikely to ever achieve near the...

Has anyone recently used the pre booked EV charging spaces at a Center Parcs? Looks like they are run by Rolec/VendElectric. No pricing on Center Parcs website and site does not even appear on VendElectric app so completely at a loss how much these cost other than they may be charged by time...

I can second Cleevely - probably not too long a drive from Bristol. Whilst they do do mobile, it’s about 20% more than on site and when we booked, had a waiting list of several months. They really know their stuff with Tesla and EVs in general. We had a near £400 service/brakes and they...

    Tesla Vision

Absolutely. The issue is that he was probably limiting the number of data sources (in this case sensors), rather than trying to properly solve the problem - his solution was to remove a source of data rather than add source(s) of data (that use different algorithms and/or sensors) and use that...
