Do Android phones require Tesla App to be opened for the key lock to work?

So far I had no issues with the phone not working when I was near the car. I got myself the key fob, though. After 9 years of using the fob with my Model S I got so used to it. I use my trunk and front trunk a lot. When I work I use them multiple times a day. It is just easier to press the fob...

    Supercharger - Tucson, AZ

Unfortunately Tesla won't take calls or reports about Supercharger issues. They used to in the early days but stopped years ago. They claim they automatically detect issues. Clearly that system isn't working well as you have experienced. I don't think the center pin makes much of a difference...

Just a little perspective. This is Los Angeles and Orange County in California. When I got my first Tesla Model S in March of 2014, there was 1 supercharger at Tesla/SpaceX in Hawthorne. I believe it had 6 stalls. That was it for the entire mega city of over 15 million people. Even a year later...

Holiday travel availability / congestion at CA Superchargers; possible solutions, complaints, comments, discussion

I agree, have a bad experience charging your car is a major turn off and will only harm the EV adoption. This is true for Tesla equally. But they are well aware and put tremendous effort in building out the charging network. If it was up to EA and the others, EV adoption would be 8 years behind...

Holiday travel availability / congestion at CA Superchargers; possible solutions, complaints, comments, discussion

Tesla has been keeping up installing new and extending charging stations with sales. I've been driving Teslas for almost 10 years now. I have always driven long cross country road trips. Looking back at 500k miles on Superchargers I would say at the moment the situation is actually pretty good...

Can I keep my car "healthy" w/out Teslafi, Tessie etc?

I have been using data logging services of various kind on my Tesla vehicles for almost 10 years now. It is fun and helps understand what the car does in different conditions. While this is fun has it's purpose, I doesn't give you special insight that would help you keep the battery healthier...

Anybody using AUTO-VOX wireless camera on front bumper plate/grille?

The link doesn't work. I fond the camera on Amazon, though. It has pretty good reviews. Looks like a great design and you can add a small solar panel to keep it topped up. Not sure I would want to install a dedicated screen on my dash just for the few moments I want to see the front camera.

5 years worth of subscription = buying it

After just a few days of driving the car through Los Angeles and Orange County traffic, am so happy I did not spend the money of FSD. I had to take over on every single drive I did. It is nerve wrecking because of how erratic is acts. It feels more like driving with a teenager after 1 hour...

Picked mine up in Irvine today. Car was in excellent condition, nothing to complain about. FUSC transferred already. It took only 5 miles of driving for the cameras to calibrate and FSD was ready.

Performance suspension and ride quality impressions

Yes I still plan on getting 18 inch wheels for range and extra comfort.

5 years worth of subscription = buying it

Is that something Tesla promises when you outright buy FSD? I remember that upgrade back then. That was before they mass produced cars (3 & Y). I can't see Tesla doing free hardware upgrades to millions of cars on the road.

Performance suspension and ride quality impressions

When I ordered my Model Y I was very hesitant to go for the performance version. I was worried about the suspension being too harsh. I am in general not a fan of sports car suspensions making you feel every tiny little bump on the road. 12 months ago I had a rental Model Y (non performance) that...

5 years worth of subscription = buying it

So that's actually one thing I' a bit confused about. My old S with AP1 had lane change when I use the blinker. It would not automatically change lanes to pass a slower vehicle in front of me. Does the basic autopilot with HW4 not even do that?

5 years worth of subscription = buying it

Thanks everyone. I am coming from an AP1 Model S and have been happy with the capabilities because I drive most of my miles on long trip on freeways and highways. It works fine for that. I do little urban and city driving. I think I'll actually be fine with the basic AP features for the most...

5 years worth of subscription = buying it

At $199, I can subscribe to FSD for 5 years before the total cost is equal. I'm likely switching cars in 5 years. I'm also not paying the full amount up front. I might pause the subscriptions 2 months of the year where I'm on vacation or just don't drive much, making the total time longer than 5...

    Model Year 2024 Model Y

I just ordered my Performance Y and got a VIN assigned within an hour. It's a 2023 VIN. I have no experience when and how Tesla switches VINs to 2024. I believe they have plenty of cars ready to go that were produced already. I wouldn't wait ordering hoping you get a 2024 model.

For how much charge left does the trip planer aim?

He stopped updating his trap planner a while ago. It still works fine but obviously The newer cars are not available. I found Tesla’s trip planner to be pretty accurate and useful, and now that’s it’s available in the app I haven’t used any other tool in a while. I also find that I just don’t...

    November/December Waiting Room

If you are in California, don't order unless you are able to pick up pretty much instantly. I called and asked if I should place an order now even though it was 10 days before I could pick it up. BlackVue Dashcam useful in addition to Sentry?

Thanks so much. That is very helpful. I will install my Blackvue. I believe the Blackvue supports 12-24 Volt, but even if not, as you say, a small DCDC will fix that.

BlackVue Dashcam useful in addition to Sentry?

I'm getting a new Y coming from an old S that doesn't have Sentry mode in any shape or form. I have a 4k Blackvue Dashcamera with front/back cameras. It works great. Is there any advantage of installing that in my new Y considering I can use Sentry Mode? I have my Blackvue set up to record 24/7...

With transfer of FUSC, which Model Y should I get?

2021 Model Y SR Range Loss (or lack thereof)

Like other said, keeping it around 50% is a good habit. As for the range increase you see in Teslafi, keep in mind that changing the charging habits doesn't bring back range that was previously lost. There is no self healing process that would bring back capacity that was lost before as true...
