FSD turns into the short-deadline lane

Ok, the turn lane makes sense. I got confused by the deadlane term and the location of the lines.

FSD turns into the short-deadline lane

I’m trying to understand what you mean by "deadline lane". The paths you’ve highlighted in red and yellow look like they're on the median separating opposing traffic lanes. Are you saying your car is driving in the median with FSD enabled?

Maximum battery charge level reduced - warranty about to expire

I don't have any experience with exercising a warranty like this, but I recommend documenting your charging issues as much as possible including taking screenshots that clearly identify your car and include date/time stamps.

Power Trunk Retrofit on Model 3s now Available Direct from Tesla [09.14.2023 - 2018 model 3 not eligible]

Sorry to hear about your negative experience. It is disappointing that Tesla doesn’t verify the part is actually in stock before they schedule and execute the retrofit appointment. That doesn’t seem like a difficult thing to do assuming they have good inventory control. Although my retrofit...

How coolant level affected my range

Is the coolant in this case like an AC refrigerant coolant or some other type of liquid? Just wondering if it would dissipate into the atmosphere or show a leak on the ground.

Power Trunk Retrofit on Model 3s now Available Direct from Tesla [09.14.2023 - 2018 model 3 not eligible]

I took photos before and after the powered trunk retrofit to see how much the maximum trunk opening was reduced due to the retrofit. I also measured the height of the interior of the trunk with it fully open at about 64.5” and to the trunk latch at about 63.5”. The height to the exterior of the...

Power Trunk Retrofit on Model 3s now Available Direct from Tesla [09.14.2023 - 2018 model 3 not eligible]

I got my Model 3 back with the powered trunk retrofit installed. I dropped the car off at 11:00 am and they said it would be 2-3 hours which I didn't believe. I got the car back as soon as it was ready at 6:30 pm, so 7-1/2 hours total - not as long as I thought it might take given my car was the...

Power Trunk Retrofit on Model 3s now Available Direct from Tesla [09.14.2023 - 2018 model 3 not eligible]

I just took my Model 3 in this morning for the retrofit at our nearest SC. It is also the first retrofit they are doing. When I asked how long it would take, he said 2-3 hours. I almost laughed but just replied, good luck. Hopefully, they don't make any major mistakes using my car as their...

Why did my Powerwall not satisfy all house demand

The two screenshots tell the story. The first shows you used 1.00 Wh of energy from the grid (which is very little) at about 7:47 while the second shows a peak power usage of about 1200 W during the same time. I suspect there was a brief transition where your system was switching in the battery...

Question about Model 3 Powered Trunk

I've heard many people who are pleased with their 3rd-party powered trunk mods but I was hesitant to go down this route. The Tesla powered truck retrofit first was made available on Sept 14 this year and has been available for a few times since then for relatively brief periods. I just waited a...

Question about Model 3 Powered Trunk

The Model 3 Powered Trunk Retrofit is now available! I just ordered mine and set up an appointment. The option probably won't last long so get it while you can. Btw, I couldn't find the retrofit going directly to the Accessory page in the app. I had to scan the QR code on the website and that...

Thanks! I used your first method and the Trunk Retrofit does appear (although currently not available) in my app so I'm good to go when they come into stock. Power Trunk Retrofit on Model 3s now Available Direct from Tesla [09.14.2023 - 2018 model 3 not eligible]

I’m a bit late to the party here but very interested in this retrofit for my wife’s 2019 Model 3. I understand it is currently out of stock but, like many others, will be monitoring the site. Sorry if this has been asked and answered before - I didn't have the patience to read the 9 previous...

Question about Model 3 Powered Trunk

Since I started this thread, I'm very pleased to see this offered by Tesla. I understand the Tesla retrofit works for 2019 and 2020 Model 3s. My wife has a 2019 Model 3 so it appears this will work for her car but Tesla doesn't strictly follow model years to implement changes. Does anyone know...

Remove charging cable while air conditioning is on

Welcome to the forums! I don't think it will cause a problem with your AC or any other systems running in your car when you unplug from charging. However, I would not unplug from charging when running a software update on the car. The car should automatically stop charging during a software...

What do you think caused this electrical fire?

Just for clarification, were you using a Tesla 14-50 Adapter with a Tesla Mobile Connector for charging your Model 3? It's hard to tell from the photos.

    Guidelines to electrician

A 30A breaker will provide 24A of continuous power while a 40A breaker will give you 32A (both 80% of the breaker rating). You’ll get about 21 miles per hour of charge with the former and about 28 miles per hour of charge with the latter.

Can you say a little more about the error and the trouble you're having with them? Is the error related to the HV battery? Are they citing excessive Supercharger usage?

Why can't the car just STAY ON (and hack-workaround)

That's interesting. Maybe Tesla removed static TPMS measurements as a cost-saving measure. I wonder what year they made that change.
  35. spsheridan

Why can't the car just STAY ON (and hack-workaround)

The TPMS in newer Teslas requires some time driving the car for the TPMS readings to update - they don’t take static measurements. I don’t think you’ll be able to get an accurate TPMS reading as you inflate your tires while the car is in Park. I thought this applied to all Teslas but maybe not...

    90 Watt vs 100 Watt

You may want to update the units for your Model S battery capacity. Those should be 90 and 100 kiloWatt-hours (kWh), not 90 and 100 Watts.
  38. spsheridan

    keep unlocked and 2nd location

Yes, but the OP also mentions a "safe work parking location". It would be convenient to add locations that aren't home locations but are still safe locations. It really doesn't matter if they are called Home or not, just that multiple locations could be designated for disabling Walk-Away Door Lock.
  39. spsheridan

    keep unlocked and 2nd location

I believe disabling of Walk-Away Door Lock is only possible for the location you designate as Home. I agree that being able to add additional locations for disabling Walk-Away Door Lock would be very useful.

Any idea what this fault code is? THC_w0246_exvFloodingDetected

Not sure what the specific error code means but THC is the Thermal Control system (for the cabin and HV battery). I suspect the code means a liquid has been detected somewhere in the Thermal Control system electronics where it doesn't belong.

Missed Initial Tire Rotation, Now at 12,000 Miles. Still do it?

Tires wear differently from front to back due to steering, so it's still worth rotating front to back. You may not see the difference now but it's likely you eventually will.

Financial analysis PV plus powerwall versus PV only

Unlike solar panels, it's hard to justify a whole-home battery purely on the basis of electrical cost avoidance or recovery. If you're on a Time of Use plan where your electrical cost varies with time of day, then you can reduce your electrical costs by using the battery to provide energy to...

Trickle charge deeper than fast charge?

I'm not sure what you're saying here. If the "trickle charge" resulted in a lower drain on your battery for the same trip (15-16% vs. 19-20%), wouldn't that reflect higher mileage in mi/kWh?

Tesla Virtual Power Plant - CA (Released for some SCE customers starting 08.15.2022)

That’s a puzzle. My app version is also 4.21.0 and my Gateway is also 23.4.2-1. The fact that VPP is not appearing in your app leads me to believe the issue is with Tesla, not SCE. Even so, it still could help to contact SCE - they might know what’s going on with Tesla's VPP program in your area...

Impact of Adverse Conditions on EV vs. ICE Vehicle Efficiency

I've had a question for a long time about electric vehicles. The mileage you get driving an electric vehicle (EV) is highly affected by things like whether you’re driving into the wind, you’re driving up a hill, or you’re towing something. But mileage for ICE vehicles doesn’t seem to be as...
