How is it that CT with that triangular shape specifically designed for aerodynamics, has worse CD than Rivian which is a traditional shaped truck ?

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

That 30K and 78K delivery projection both look very reasonable. 30K next year is an average of 3K per month, which means with a linear ramp they should end Dec 2024 with a production rate of 7k to 8k. Not an easy task for any company.

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

I think this narrative I keep hearing so often here and from many Tesla enthusiasts on Twitter, is a bit delusional and removed from reality. You can have a ton of Superchargers every 2nd mile in every gas station, it doesn't take away the need to have a decent solid (meaning 20-80%) 300 mile...

Agreed. That caught my attention immediately. 340 miles range is not $100K

Someone posted this graphic from MKBHD review. Interesting MKBHD says that Road noise is higher than other Teslas, whereas Musk said it will be most quietest Tesla due to the armored glass. I trust MKBHD.

So what is the speculation on the battery pack size for the 340 mile dual motor version? 140 kWh ?
  9. E

    ALL CyberTruck discussion

There is NO way the range will jump by 200 miles from 300 to 500 miles from dual to Tri motor version. There is no space for all the additional battery capacity needed.

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

We already know the range is not blowing anyone off. Pretty sure won’t be cheap either. FUD media has only Ford Lightning to compare and no spec stands out in favor of CT. So expect down 5 to 8% tomorrow. But none of the that will impact sales. CT will sell all they can produce for next two...

SpaceX Starship - Integrated Flight Test #2 - Starbase TX - Including Post Launch Dissection

From the animation on the bottom, correct? That animation I believe is not even close to reality. It is a a very coarse approximation just to give an idea.

How did you figure this out? Hopefully not from the animation !

That range is sure not very encouraging. When hauling stuff (not towing) the increased weight would reduce the range even more.

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

Where is the insult or disrespect in that post? It is just a light humor based on the years of negative talk by Munger on Tesla. You don’t want to make fun of some tragedy. But this is not. A public figure died at a ripe old age.

SpaceX Starship - Integrated Flight Test #2 - Starbase TX - Including Post Launch Dissection

JB - appreciate all your analysis and participation. If we as casual enthusiasts are this excited to split hairs and analyze, I am just wondering how cool and fun it would be for those SpaceX rocket engineers who are making this thing work *and* getting paid for it.
  16. E

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

I just want to temper expectations on the range. If it is anywhere in the 300 to 350 range, it will be a disappointment to a lot of observers. The media will play it up as a failure and the stock will take a temporary hit. If the battery is really 123 kWh, I don't expect the range to be more...

SpaceX Starship - Integrated Flight Test #3 - Discussion Thread

Remember there are two parts to this: a) Generating O2 and H2 from water and then b) liquefying them which is even more energy intensive. I am guessing your calculations are only for hydrolysis which generates gaseous O2 and H2.

+1. Three booster concerns need to be addressed: - need to have positive acceleration just enough for the fuel to stay at the bottom - the impact of staying in Starship's engine blast for a bit longer. - don't hit Starship.
  22. E

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

I have seen quite a few Model 3 ads on YouTube the last few weeks. But then they preaching to the choir, in my case :-)

SpaceX Starship - Integrated Flight Test #3 - Discussion Thread

Perhaps the Depot Starship not only carries liquid fuel, it should also have the rigs to create LOX from say liquid water, using power generated from Solar panels... just a crazy idea.
  24. E

SpaceX Starship - Integrated Flight Test #3 - Discussion Thread

I don't think astronomers should complain. We are talking about a few Starship - 2 or 3 at max - in LEO at anytime, compared to thousands of Starlink satellites.

Supercharger availability in TX during busy holiday periods

This topic is to discuss any SpC congestions (or lack of) in TX and surrounding states during busy holiday periods like Thanksgiving, Christmas and July 4th weekends. I did drive between Dallas and Houston and back on Thursday (Thanksgiving day) and the next day, Black Friday. Zero issues. Zero...

FSD V12 (end to end AI)

No that is NOT what he said. In the past, a newer version (for Tesla FSD) has shown regressions before it got better in the subsequent minor version updates. One step forward, two steps backward. So he is wondering aloud if first release of V12 will actually be a regression from V11 on some...

FSD V12 (end to end AI)

There are two ways to make a decision: A clear algorithmic way of deciding and doing things. - If it is this situation then do this thing. If it is that situation do that thing. Another way is, by learning from actions of many others. - When a light turned green, what did others do...

+1. You can bolster this argument with some basic anecdotal data also. The next time you are on the road, count the number of trucks that do not tow vs the one with a tow. I bet it is 20 to 1 or even worse. Even the ones that that tow a majority of them are towing a trailer with lawn mowers...

  33. E

SpaceX Starship - Integrated Flight Test #2 - Starbase TX - Including Post Launch Dissection

That was the point I was trying to make earlier. I understand the inner most 3 engines are not shutoff the entire time to keep a minimal level of thrust going during staging, but then why light the other engines before the 180 degree flip maneuver is fully completed, and the rocket is oriented...

Good analysis. Although he didn't speculate the root cause/trigger of Ship's failure.
  35. E

SpaceX Starship - Integrated Flight Test #2 - Starbase TX - Including Post Launch Dissection

10 years ago this would have been nothing more than science fiction. Today SpaceX can do it so easily without breaking sweat. Although I would think strategically placed cameras and sensors inside and outside the booster and ship is more than enough to get all the data needed.

More the reason I believe it is in the best interest of India and Tesla, for them to put their resources and energies to build a battery plant (for Powerwall) and Solar panel manufacturing than a car factory. Incredible videos. It appears staging in Starship happens at a much lower altitude and lateral distance than F9, as the ground based videos of MECO and staging are much clearer than those we have seen from F9. Question: Why would the booster's engines ignite so quickly right after MECO? in F9...

SpaceX Starship - Integrated Flight Test #2 - Starbase TX - Including Post Launch Dissection

If the reasons speculated here are the ones for Booster failure, then the trigger for all that are the forces due to rapid deceleration and rapid attitude change - whose root cause is the hot staging. Given that Booster's mass is small fraction (may be 1/10th) of the Ship at MECO, hot staging...

Got Agree with this. Road tripping is not a thing in India (yet) and that is primarily due to sub-par highway infrastructure and amenities. 90% (my WAG number) of personal cars are used for local city commute only. And Teslas range are *more* than enough for comfortable city driving. What...
