Ah, you are correct. There is no motivation to move their car. As is, whenever I stay at Juniper, there is always one or two cars who are there for several days. I met the president of the HOA there one day, and he agreed, and put signs up. It did nothing. I heard they may change to paid...
That destination charger would be great for visiting any of the local restaurants. Aside from that, I am happy to have these chargers there. If not charging at my destination, I can always pop in for a 15 minute charge, which should last me a week up there until I take the hill back down.
Finally got around to scheduling a service for my peeling yoke. They told me they could replace it now, or I could wait for a better one in Q1 2024. I can wait. Who knows, but maybe the new one has a real horn button? I can dream now, can't I?
I have made the trip from West LA to the in-town Bishop SC, in not freezing temperatures, with only a couple of miles left. I would much rather make this one, as I can walk to Meadow Farms for a double bacon breakfast burrito (don't judge). I could probably make it under ideal conditions.
I...
Speak of the devil. Here is a site that was just taken down. V3 stalls to boot. Apparently, the place was too congested with it there (or something like that). I did not get into the nitty-gritty of the thread. There is another site a few blocks away.
6 is better than 0, but I foresee a severe congestion problem at this site during the winter. People just have to remember that the amount of regen they get going down the hill is massive. This is a good spot for Tesla to restrict charging to 80% (or less), at least on busy days. There are...
Yeah, that is surprising. I am assuming that it was because it was permitted for such a long time ago, and the equipment assigned. Looking at that thread, that is the best guess of those following as well.
There have been quite a few locations where the temporary Urban stalls we added in to V2's, maybe even a few examples the same exact ones moved from one location to another. To my knowledge (limited), this is the only place that has all 3 types. I think it was done as an urgent solution until...
Actually, I just applied a filter at supercharge.info. I could only find 3 sites permanently closed in N. America, though a bunch more in China. The Hawthorne site is well known as closed to the public due to its unique location. I have no knowledge about the others.
This original Mojave...
I have seen a few permanently closed locations on supercharge.info, but none that I have seen myself. When LP did the first real expansion, the removed the old V2's and urban stalls. My guess is that this site will stay functional until there is a triggering event, like lease renewal, sale of...
Funny thing is, as critical Mojave has been to me (and still is for many others), since I upgraded my MS to the refreshed LR, I no longer need to stop here. From West LA, I can make it to Bishop if it is not too cold, and LP easily if I'm really weighed down with below freezing outside. On the...
So, what is the over-under for this site closing? This site is located on land that is for sale, it has 6 V2's from 2015, 4 semi-temporary type V3's and 2 (definitely) temporary Urban stalls. 44 other stalls in Mojave up and running, with 32 of them just a 30 second walk from these.
The 12 stalls down the road, along with the seemingly temporary expansion of the original site, pretty much ended any congestion in Mojave. There were zero issues last winter season. Now, with the addition of these two sites, an additional 32 stalls, I think it is safe to say that this...
One of the points the others were making is that the car is never fully asleep. This is especially true if you use Sentry Mode. Sit and listen to the car. It wakes itself up frequently.
Totally agreed, as I and others have said. I was in the Tesla SC a few weeks back, and they thought I was silly for not liking the lack of stalks, and felt it would be a huge success. Like we are some small vocal minority or something. Yeah, Tesla is in for a serious surprise, and maybe even...
This is exactly how I display them, and have displayed them, for the past 11 years. And, as others mentioned, with PPF. I can’t imagine a CHP would actually pull someone over for a fix-it. That is a lot of risk for something so trivial.
Do you mean like the Bunny Ranch?
Nothing embarrassing in my search history, but it is really annoying to have to scroll past suggestions that rarely have any relevance. Better to have no suggestions than wrong suggestions.
Scratch that. It’s back, but with different behavior. It is sometimes there, and other times not. I have not yet discerned the pattern, except to say the suggestions still almost always make no sense.
Thanks @bmah for splitting up these threads. I was the one who found this location, and I guess we all assumed that the old Thai one was replaced with this one, but I guess it turned out that both were being built. Pretty amazing that this area (almost) has 4 sites now. I have yet to see or...
Right. I have to get to the SC at an extremely low rate, and pretty much jog to the cafe. Given how slow things get towards the end of the charge, and how big my battery is, I usually have enough time to eat.
Does Tesla still exempt idle fees if a SC is empty? They did this at the...
Mostly true. I still find that the supercharging directions can at times be ridiculously stupid. Driving to Mammoth this past April was a perfect example. I left West LA with a full charge. Yet, the nav recommended that I stop off in West Hollywood first (5 miles away from my start), then...
I was going to say the same thing. Also, several locations, like the Village and the Westin, amongst others, have destination charging. Nothing better than getting a full charge while sleeping.
Not like the other site at Bishop is all that busy. Probably not an issue. What would really be helpful is the proposed location at Lee Vining. I am sure quite a few people will need a charge after climbing the hill.
The few times I used their facilities, I gave them a couple of bucks and just told them I am just there for the restroom. They happily let me in. I think they are supposed to honor Tesla drivers, or, that is at least the impressive they gave me.
My experience remains unchanged. It continues to recommend a B&B from a trip we made over 8 months ago, and a 4 hour drive away. That, and multiple other places that I have zero interest in returning to. I have even gone through I deleted each on of them from my history. I am going to chauk...
Holy Karp. This is a massive supercharger, and right in my hood. Location wise, it is ideal, covering the many multi-unit dwellings in the surrounding area, including southwest Beverly Hills. But, what a HORRIBLE mall! The Beverly Connection is a notoriously difficult place to get in an out...
With the significant increase in traffic, I am sure that the museum would rather not have people using their lot as a method to access to their chargers. I respect that and feel a strong support of them for allowing us this location. I use their facilities on occasion, and throw a few bucks in...
I didn't really pay attention to the location of this. When you mentioned Meadow Farms, my mouth just started drooling and my brain went numb. Yes, just a short walk over. Last time I was up there, I got myself one of their breakfast burritos. Truly an amazing experience.
Yes, I found your wonderful thread with your X, and the other one. Some vendors have their own threads for following updates. I could not find one, so I subscribed to their email list.
Yes, anything on the airbag risks becoming a projectile, and damaging to one's face, even if soft. I really...
I've looked at Enhance Auto's S3XY buttons a few times over the past few months. Does @dimitar.ns have a thread going here at TMC?
I think a really cool alternative to stalks (alternative, meaning, I would prefer stalks) would be buttons that could attach to the back of the steering wheel/yoke...
It disappeared for a while, then came back during heavy rain, only this time, much worse in that my window would continuously roll down on its own, while raining. It sucked. They had to replace all the wiring throughout the entire door.
