    First Road Trip

Better to be safe than in a real pickle in an Isolated part of Australia. I do believe that the QLD RAC agent in Camooweal which kindly provides the 3 phase charging has spent many a day rescuing petrol and diesel vehicles that have run out of fuel due to headwinds on that section of road.

    Road noise - 2023 Model Y

The 2023 model Y road noise level has improved over previous Teslas but is still noticeable. If you want an EV with low levels of road noise and smooth suspension buy a European car, if you want the most efficient EV for its size, availability to the best charging infrastructure in the country...

The RAA installing a 32amp single phase type 2 in Penong and Nullarbor when a 32amp 3 phase already exists is not going to provide anything but negative publicity- https://thedriven.io/2023/11/04/the-ev-charging-bottleneck-soon-to-arrive-on-the-nullarbor/

    ARENA/NRMA national fast charging network

That’s been in place at Balladonia for nearly two years and has proven to be reliable despite the occasional time charging needs to be restarted There is a lower cost and less bulky brand with the same output that a few drivers have been using as portable units that also appears to have so far...

The longest EV charging network in West Australia

Nanutarra, Minilya, Overlander and Billabong are all off-grid sites all within a 560km drive with the town of Carnarvon in between, Overlander had most of the panels in place 2 weeks ago but I’m guessing Nanutarra may get priority. It’s critical these off-grid sites are 100% reliable from day...

Why has Tesla's charging advice changed

Charge you NCM pack LR or Performance to what you need, if your panning to drive 300kms before the next charge session charge to 80%, if you plan to drive 340kms charge to 90%, if you plan to drive across the Barkly Highway and don’t have time to stop at the roadhouse charge to 100%. Enjoy the car.

    Model X brake pad life

As others have pointed out the pads themselves could last well past the life of a complete ICE vehicle, that’s not to say you won’t have issues with the park brake callipers or the disc rotors.

    Portable Gen 3 Wall Connector

Yes, I did this back in 2016. Keep in mind that if you use it often on road trips so are packing and unpacking it constantly it will eventually fail.

    Superchargers in Australia

If this is the site in Mandurah (technically Barragup which is on the road to Pinjarra) there’s no progress. To be honest I can’t see the point as there’s many more important locations in WA that need a Supercharger.

    FastEV EVO1(+) 18" with Goodyear F1 Asymmetric 6 for Model 3 Performance

    FastEV EVO1(+) 18" with Goodyear F1 Asymmetric 6 for Model 3 Performance

It’s best to get at least 1000kms of use into the tyres before measuring efficiency, even then the only accurate assessment is two similar cars on the same roads at the same time, a Different set of tyres on each.

Beware new model Y and 3 owners, CCS2 adaptor mistake.

I left mine behind at the Balladonia Roadhouse….on the Nullarbor. Fortunately @Murbs was passing through about a week later and collected it. Managed to get all the way to Brisbane using V2 Superchargers and NRMA Chademo, old tech to the rescue.

Beware new model Y and 3 owners, CCS2 adaptor mistake.

Pictured is a CCS2 adaptor that is only useful for a pre 2020 model X or S vehicles in Australia. Australian MYLR to get Acceleration Boost?

Performance Petrol car owners could only dream of shaving half a second of their 0-60mph time for $3000. They also fantasise about getting that performance boost without reducing the engines efficiency, reliability and tractability.

I got out the tape measure today, at Lancelin Superchargers it’s 2.5metres between the white lines on the middle bay. On the end bay it’s 2.4m between the kerb and the SC stall. By comparison at the Karrinyup SC it’s 2.7m line to line.

Pimba and Coober Peda get rapid DC chargers but Glendambo gets an AC 7kw charge point. The RAA need to look at every way to get a 50kw DC charger in at Glendambo or drivers will be hypermiling, that’s not a safe driving method on a major transport route.
