    Supercharger - Neepawa, MB (unconfirmed)

Yes, I don't recall seeing many installations - especially in more out of the way places - where non-Tesla chargers are installed in quantities bigger than 2. Often Tesla itself adds 2 non-Tesla chargers in order to qualify for the government grants.

    Supercharger - Neepawa, MB (unconfirmed)

It also makes for a nice circuit, if we want to take a trip Winnipeg- Calgary (Banff) - Edmonton - Winnipeg, without having to divert back down from Saskatoon to Regina.
  3. M

    Supercharger - Russell, MB

It appears they may be doing Neepawa too now... so progress.

    Supercharger - Neepawa, MB (unconfirmed)

Yes, if they're doing Yorkton and Russell, then this is the logical last link to make the Hwy 16 (Yellowhead) driveable from Edmonton to Portage la Prairie.
  5. M

    Supercharger - Russell, MB

Yes, but at least the route is do-able, no need to reroute to Regina from Saskatoon (once these are finished). I'm imagining in a few years, chargers will be everywhere (and the non-Tesla ones won't all be out of order) and this will be less of a consideration. Then I will await the reverse...

    Western Canada Superchargers

At least from Russell (now under construction) you can get to Brandon by turning south at Minnedosa, so most of the highway will be open. I hear of a guy who made it to The Pas but apparently it was a pain, the chargers along the way were not just slow but unreliable. then apparently he...

    Tesla Compact Hatch Coming?

Not bad, but I wonder how you get in the back doors? I would prefer the same configuaration as my 1990 Civic hatchback, 2-door; but then, they'd have to make a different driver seat that folds forward. I don't like the tease pic linked, either the vehicle is too long or there's no back seat...

    Supercharger - Russell, MB

    >More Yellowhead Highway Supercharging. With Yorkton, SK the Yellowhead Highway will be traversible in good weather from at least Jasper, AB. It's ony about 180km to Brandon from Russell if you turn south at Minnedosa. Good in any weather.

    Supercharger - Russell, MB

OK! This should make it possible to go skiing at Assessippi from the Peg.

OEM CCS adapter now available to order in North America, Retrofit for older cars coming in 2023

But every year there's more and more of those... The next step is whether other charger companies will try to compete with Tesla either in speed, cost, or convenient locations. In the heyday, there were gas stations on every corner (and often, 4 corners). It may b a while, but we can hope that...

OEM CCS adapter now available to order in North America, Retrofit for older cars coming in 2023

That's reassuring. I found some German site that said all Model 3's (all Tesla 3,S,X) 2018 and later have Gen 2. My car is late 2018. Thanks everyone! Now all they have to do is get the upgrade available from Tesla...

OEM CCS adapter now available to order in North America, Retrofit for older cars coming in 2023

I just got my 12V Battery replaced (4-1/2 years) and talking to the service tech - he said he's only seen the CCS upgrade for Model X and yes, it does cause problems with the Gen1 portabe chargers. He hasn't seen or done any Model 3 upgrades for CCS yet and can't say whether it will still be a...

    Supercharger - Morris, MB

Yes, went down there mid-July. Everything was good, nicely paved. An easy top-up to ensure plenty of juice to go down the interstate at 75mph (120kph) to Grand Forks. Grand Forks and Fargo also no problems. Saw an F150 charging in Grand Forks.

OEM CCS adapter now available to order in North America, Retrofit for older cars coming in 2023

So I assume the complaint I saw was for a non-standard non-Tesla CCS retrofit? (I too have a (late) 2018 M3 awaiting upgrade.) Still, like ChaDEMO is still around, there will be sufficient CCS cars out there that likely CCS will be around for a while and until the new non-Tesla cars have it...

OEM CCS adapter now available to order in North America, Retrofit for older cars coming in 2023

I saw a post somewhere (and can't find it again) that someone had their older Model 3 retrofitted with the CCS upgrade (official? Not sure) and as a result, their Gen1 portable charger (UMC) no longer works with the car. Since I have a late 2018 Model 3, contemplating a CCS upgrade someday, has...

Mysterious Tesla Prototype spotted in China (Model Q / Compact?)

It's hard to tell exactly from those first set of photos (which I assume is the purpose of the disguise wrap) But it does look like the pillars framing the windshield don't match up with the hood line and width, they're maybe 2 inches less wide - which reinforces the idea they simply stuck the...

    Tesla Van

That would be like the "skateboard" concept that everyone talked about once upon a time, that seems to have been more ubiquitous in the pages of Popular Mechanics than in any real-world vehicles on the road. I guess the first step is to be making enough chassis that the customization can grow...

Mysterious Tesla Prototype spotted in China (Model Q / Compact?)

Perhaps they were cobbling together a prototype to try out the other parts - drive train, battery pack, driver/passenger ergonometrics, software, etc - and found it simpler to cannibalize a Mazda for the rest of the body. The front would be easy to do with existing Tesla parts, and the front...

    Tesla Van

It seems to me that whatever van layout they come up with, should be flexible - a people-mover for their tunnel plans (like Vegas) with wide side doors for quick loading and easy access 3 rows of seats, autopilot/robotaxi mode; but also serviceable for things like the courtesy vhicles for...

Tesla forced to open superchargers to unlock billions

Simply situation would be to replace one or two pedestals with ones that also do CCS with those locking adapters. I assume it's not difficult to make one of those work with the older SC cabinets. Maybe retrofit that one pedestal that's usually off to the side? I think the other point is that...

Tesla Watching Owner Cameras - Reuters

Yeah, I gather Tesla was more new-age dot-com in trying to avoid the overly bureaucratic HR department crap - but sometimes, employees need to be reminded there are rules that can have legal consequences. I've seen places where I and acquaintances work that have to remind people about the...

    Canada - FSD rollout

The problem is, if I'm in the middle of reccovering from FSD jamming on the brakes at 110kph (on an empty highway in braod daylight) then beeping like a crazy crash warning and disengaging, I don't have time to read what the screen is telling me to do; by the time I've disengaged and resumed...

    Supercharger - Wynyard, SK

The thing is - I'd like to be able to go to the Assessippi ski area norht of Russell. Hoever, that's not really an option in winter with reduced range due to cold - or the range reduction from having the car sit outside all day before trying to go home, considering Brandon (or extending the trip...

    Supercharger - Morris, MB

Yes, my wife sent me another screenshot from the Manitoba Tesla Club today, of someone who's charging there (71kW, battery 60%, 471km/hr).
  25. M

    Supercharger - Morris, MB

My wife says someone on Facebook mentioned charging here even though it is not shown as active on the Tesla system. So if someone is headed that way, it would be nice to hear if they can try it. (We were driving the BMW last weekend so we couldn't test it. It was bright out, so couldn't tell...

    Supercharger - Morris, MB

At worst case, there is a J1772 charger next door to this Morris installation on the south wall of the Tim Hortons restaurant, so you can top up to get to Winnipeg.
  27. M

    Supercharger - Morris, MB

Yes, we were there on Saturday. There is some sort of power at least to the two Flo chargers, since the screens are lit up with Flo logo. Not sure if they are working, though.
  28. M

    Supercharger - Morris, MB

My wife showed me a Facebook post that the pedestals and equipment were installed - not long now?

    Supercharger - Morris, MB

Plenty of bollard protection. They must know about Manitoba pickup drivers and snow plow operators.
  30. M

    Supercharger - Morris, MB

No, Emerson or Pembina would be borderline. :D The good news is, no matter when the equipment arrives, all the digging and wire pulling is done. They can hook things up inside a temporary heating tent if necessary. (Which I think they did with some of the North Dakota sites back when)
  31. M

    Supercharger - Morris, MB

OTOH, maybe Manitoba Hydro understands the concept that stuff that needs to be ready by March or whenever should be done before the snow flies. It's the amount of construction fence that makes me optimistic that it's not just the Hydro people planning to do something.
  32. M

    Supercharger - Morris, MB

Good. In time for winter. When we came from Grand Forks in the middle of summer doing about speed limit (75mph and then 110kph) we left Grand Forks with 267mi (430km) and got home to Winnipeg with 83km (52 mi). I think it would be touchy to make that trip in the cold months even going a bit...
  33. M

    Supercharger - Wynyard, SK

So... Yorkton, Russell, Minnedosa to complete the Hwy 16 route. Most direct route from WInnipeg to Edmonton. Otherwise it's a stretch and a south detour to Brandon to use Hwy 16.
  34. M

    Supercharger - Wynyard, SK

Well it looks like it's just mosquitos (in season) for a year or more unless they get busy with more sites in the next few weeks.
  35. M

    Supercharger - Wynyard, SK

Yes!!! If they put one in Russell MB eventually, then Assessippi Ski area will be accessible in winter.
  36. M

    Supercharger - Morris, MB

We had no problem going from Winnipeg to Grand Forks this month, (and back) but I worry how easily this can be done in winter. Model 3 Dual - LR.
  37. M

    Supercharger - Morris, MB

Oh. I thought when it was first posted it was Q3 2022 - maybe the flooding has pushed it back? Morris is a fairly big town, as Manitoba goes, so there should be no problem getting sufficient power from a local feed.
  38. M

    Supercharger - Bloomington, MN

Yes, that's what I saw Sunday too. Meanwhile, SLP was pretty close to full while we were there about 2PM, so I'm sure they could use more chargers in the city. In Winnipeg we try to count the Tesla's we see each time we're out and about - usually at least one, often 3 or 4. In Minneapolis, why...
  39. M

    Supercharger - Morris, MB

Who says replace? I assume this is an additional charger, next door to Tim's. The floods have receded, the road is open. I saw a lot of construction equipment, thick cables, and thick orange pipe(?) on spools just south of Tim's yesterday. I wonder if Manitoba Hydro is getting a head start on...

    Supercharger - Bloomington, MN

Yes, in the latest pic you can see some fairly hefty cables coming out of the ground beside the big white box, behind the last pedestal. The green transformer, I assume, is the power company's issue - and I assume if they are like here, they operate on their own schedule. (And to be fair, with...

    Tesla Compact Hatch Coming?

Considering that one Tesla (used as a taxi service between LA and Vegas) was up to over 200,000 miles for each pack, and only needed a new battery pack because some cells failed, not because the batteries over all reached end of usable life. This was a vehicle abused with daily hot supercharges...
  42. M

    Tesla Compact Hatch Coming?

True. The hope would be that a smaller car uses less electricity per km, so the total charge cycles per thousand km (or whatever metric), hence battery life, would be similar. The point too being that a smaller battery would be less weight and so help with the less electricity per mile" issue...

Tesla Semi electric truck is finally about to go into production

I would imagine the first application for these will be for companies like Pepsi who can use them for in-city or semi-rural local delivery and install their own chargers. Of all the points a truck is used, a smart truck which only uses power when it actually moves - no idling - and returns to a...

    Tesla Compact Hatch Coming?

I think Tesla needs a small EV. Whenever people talk about cars, they mention that the problem is North Americans buy these giant SUV's with off-road pretensions, then just drive them in stop-and-go traffic 30 miles to and from work on smooth roads with one passenger. As most manufacturers...

The catastrophe of FSD and erosion of trust in Tesla

I mean, if I were writing the FSD (or rather directing a large team that was working on it)... I gather autopilot/FSD does not build on your personal driving - for example, it does not learn the quirks of your local route, neither for your driving or for the greater public. It's like every...

Does FSD Beta still require you to hit the stalk or accelerator at every intersection?

I should point out too I recall school zone signs in Fargo ND that say "25mph when children are present." I've never been there with the Tesla (thanks to COVID and slow Supercharger roll-outs) so I have no idea if those trigger Autopilot.
  47. M

    Canada - FSD rollout

How would you know if you get FSD? What's the indicators and how do you drive with it when you get it? (Does this mean you have to enter a destination, I assume?) We bought FSD not long after the car Jan 2019...

What does FSD Beta Onboarding look like?

So how exactly would I know when I've got FSD? I got the 2022.8.2 update an hour ago. (Score was/is 98) It needs to be turned on in the Autopilot? Some get FSD and some don't? BTW - on my iPhone, the trick was to logout of the app, shut it down and restart, and log back in - then possibly...

The catastrophe of FSD and erosion of trust in Tesla

If you've used for example, the grammar and spelling suggestions in Word - you realize while computers have a huge reservoir of data and amazing abilities at their fingertips (pin-outs?) they quite often cannot discern simple things we humans take for granted. Or... those magical algorithms that...

Does FSD Beta still require you to hit the stalk or accelerator at every intersection?

Yes, Winnipeg has plenty of these signs. Pass a school zone sign, any time day or night, and the car thinks the speed limit is 30km/h until you turn onto another street or encounter a speed limit sign. The end zone sign is a simple "end school zone" home plate shaped yellow sign. Since most of...
