Wiper Blade Replacement Tesla Model Y

You're assuming Tesla dosn't change suppliers for their wiper blades. I wouldn't make that assumption! ;)

    Cold Weather Tire Inflation Question

dhrivnak: Joe2765 reversed some numbers in his post, making it confusing. 42psi at 38f, 41psi at 29f. Joe2765: You're overthinking this. Set the tires at 42psi in your 65f garage, check them when they're in 30f, probably around 38 or 39psi, which is still fine. PSI will go up/down 4-6 psi...

Wiper Blade Replacement Tesla Model Y

Environmental factors play a HUGE role in wiper blade longevity. I'm in Fort Worth, not a lot of wet weather driving, blistering heat in the summer, BUT, my car is garaged most days. My OEM wipers have lasted 48k miles, are almost 3 years old.

Advice on new tyres for Model Y

There are dozens of threads on this topic. Doing an advanced search will provide you with the info you need. TireRack can get you started, and you can then search to see if specific tires are available in the UK.

Update on replacing OEM 12v lead-acid battery with lithium?

jcanoe: So, the AGM Group 51R will FIT, but you're unsure if it functions properly in a Tesla? The question is: does a 12V AGM battery have a different charging protocol and float voltage compared to a flooded lead acid 12V? Maybe you'd like to start a new thread, posing the question? ;)

    Spare Tire

Occhis: Thanks for this. Now we need someone who has removed the side panels in the trunk to join the search.
  7. P

    Spare Tire

I would never place anything in the hatch area higher than the rear seat back. Never. Strong braking turns anything there (umbrella, sleeping small dog, even a box of tissues) into a projectile. Stupid crazy for Tesla to call it a “parcel shelf.”

Phone key doesn’t work unless phone is unlocked

Do you mean "open" the Tesla app, or actually "unlock" your iPhone? If my phone is open/on, the car recognizes me when I walk up to it. Occasionally, I need to tap on the Tesla app to open it, probably 1 time out of 15.

    When to Replace 12v?

Ostrichsak: I agree with much of what you posted. However, I do NOT trust the Tesla 12V monitoring software, for the reasons I posted above, and will continue to replace the inexpensive 12V battery at or around 3 years. It's cheap insurance against an unpredictable, and inconvenient, failure...

Gemini Tire replacement - anything better than OEM? (all season)

Correct..."Anything will do" better than the OEM Conti ProContacts. Tires recommendations are regionally dependent. Read reviews on TireRack, note the REGION of the poster, and make your decision based on that.
  11. P

    When to Replace 12v?

Ostrichsak: Here in North Texas (with consecutive daily temps over 100f) , the North Texas Tesla Owners Group has had dozens of reports of spontaneous 12V battery failure, the vast majority coming with zero warning of any kind. Those that received warnings state that the battery then failed...

    Turn signal display

...but it becomes useless the other 99 % of the time, while you're driving and changing lanes.;)
  13. P

    Turn signal display

Tguillea: I don't see the need to see the "important information that gets covered by the side view camera feed" while I'm changing lanes.. I don't understand why you think looking at the lower far right corner of the screen would be useful. It's way off your straight-ahead line of sight.

HV Battery Died with 7 miles range left showing on Range display

Marks321: Your numbers don't seem excessive. So, if my ICE vehicle runs out of fuel with "x" number of miles remaining on the estimate on the dash, I know that I won't ever challenge that number. Ever. If I do, and the ICE vehicle runs out of fuel, it becomes operator error. Why would your MY...

OEM HEPA filters done after 1~ year?

The filter is doing its job, right, rather than your lungs? $90/year might seem high, but not for 365 days of clean air. My opinion, of course.

TPMS reports "tire pressure higher than recommended value" at 45 PSI

Maybe jcanoe will chime in, as he keeps his MYLR tires at 44-45psi, and they must go higher when hot.
  19. P

TPMS reports "tire pressure higher than recommended value" at 45 PSI

I thought the question was why is his TPMS registering "high" at 45psi when he's never seen this message before at 49psi? I wasn't aware that TPMS would throw a "high psi" warning. Is this new?

    Headlight too high?

range269: If you've never adjust headlights before, be aware that the slightest change at the headlight makes a large change farther out in front of the car. You might want to google headlight adjustment for guidelines.

What is this exactly on my brand new Model Y?

Sigh...another BS Service Center fail. This really isn't a big deal, from the photos, at least. A detailer can fix the issue in a matter of a few minutes. Seriously. DO order, and have installed, the PPF panels that are applied on the flair n front of the rear wheel wells. This area takes a lot...

Replaced a flat with T2 instead of T0

Hmm...resurrecting a year-old thread with a legit (OCD!) question. There seems to be a consensus amongst OCD tire folk that the tires that come OEM on most (some?) cars do NOT last as long as the tires purchased, same size/brand, aftermarket. Wouldn't this be an indication of a possible...

    Rear Hatch Water Intrusion

Depending on the competence of your SC, you might be better off at a body shop. Less aggravation?
  26. P

    Rear Hatch Water Intrusion

dzajic: Can you post photos of the misalignment? I can't conceive what you're talking about. Misalignment of any body part should (?) be a reasonably easy fix, loosening mounting bolts, moving the body part, possibly adding a washer/shim if something is seriously off. If the SC can't fix it...

    New Model Y Noise

Dexion: I think we can all relate to your disappointment, but the good news is that the SC agrees with YOU that the sound isn't normal, and are willing to replace the drive unit. AFAIK, replacement of the drive unit isn't all that complicated, so you should be good to go. ;)

What is this exactly on my brand new Model Y?

Sorry, but my initial thought is "operator induced", since the car has been in your possession for 3 weeks. I'm afraid that's what any dealer would say. That said, I'd carefully wash the car and try to gently buff the area with a micro fiber cloth, dry, then damp. If you can't do that, or if...

Flat Tire With No Cell Service?

rlsd: Agreed, but the inflator would only help if there's a slow leak, which in my experience, isn't a common occurrence on a road trip through a desolate area. Road trip flats blowouts, IMHO. Jack/spare relieves "flat tire anxiety" when in remote areas.

Plugged in or not plugged in?

I was questioning why agmonaco thinks the 15v battery benefits differently from the previous 12V lead/acid batteries.
  31. P

Plugged in or not plugged in?

I'm not quite sure what you mean by this. Teslas usually benefit from being plugged in, for the many reasons that have been posted throughout this forum, and I don't recall the newer 15V battery to be special in that regard.

Comfort Suspension Not Much of an Improvement

No one lied to you. Those that said that the weight/acceleration dictated the firmer suspension are basing this on their opinion, maybe even preference, that the weight/horsepower REQUIRES a firmer suspension. The current consensus is that the newer suspension is indeed softer. There are also...

Update on replacing OEM 12v lead-acid battery with lithium?

All good answers, and I like jcanoe's solution to mitigate risk when on the road. TX heat kills lead acid batteries, so I proactively replaced my OEM with OEM battery at around 40k miles, IIRC. My road trips traverse desolate areas...west TX, NE NM, OK, even between FW and FL, across LA...

Comfort Suspension Not Much of an Improvement

MPP does an amazing job of softening. When I roll over a dime, I can't tell if it's heads or tails, but I still know I rolled over a dime!!! (I LIKE it that way!) OF COURSE, I'm exaggerating! It's a JOKE! MPP Coilovers do exactly what they say they do. They make the suspension BETTER in every...

Update on replacing OEM 12v lead-acid battery with lithium?

There are a few threads on this, but I couldn't find a definitive answer. I purchased an Ohmmu battery 18 months ago, but returned it after learning of incompatability with the Tesla Y Is anyone aware of a 12v lithium battery that works consistently in a 2020-2021 MY? Is there still the...

    Intermittent turn signal change

Driver side window not flush with b pillar

HAHA! I just checked BOTH my doors, and I can see the edge of the laminated glass on both of them. In fact, my driver's side glass protrudes similar to the OP's window. Since it is the following, and not the leading, edge, it is not a problem. It's not even a cosmetic issue, as far as I'm...

    Model Y Rear Passenger Door

No need to drop it anywhere, as it would just sit, lonely, ignored, for days on end when the job might very well be quickly taken care of by a qualified body shop tech with a towel and a wrench!!! Are you sure there's no removed paint along the edge? Check it carefully, as this might indicate...

    Model Y Rear Passenger Door

If the paint is scuffed on the edge, that would mean the door was opened and hit something to bend it (non warranty). If the paint is intact, you could argue that it was somehow bent during manufacture, and would therefore be covered under warranty. Good luck with this. It doesn't seem to be a...

    New Model Y Noise

FYI: I'm at 48k miles, 2021 MYLR Dual Motor. Over the past 34 months, I have noticed occasional humming/whirring/whistling sounds from the drivetrains (there are 2, aren't there?) of my car. None of these humming/whirring/whistling sounds were alarming, as they seemed consistent with sounds we...

    Keeping the exterior clean

Griot's Garage: They probably have several levels of quality. The one I bought, ($40?) from O'Reilly's is NOT good quality. Yes, it blows foam, but not evenly distributed on the car's surface.
  49. P

    Keeping the exterior clean

(My foam gun is the entry level one, Griot's Garage, that I bought at O'Reilly's here in Fort Worth. The foam comes out in blobs rather than full coverage. It's not very effective. Needs a better quality nozzle. Caveat emptor.)

How's the door alignment? Does the striker plate need to be moved inward a bit? Does the window slide into the channel at the top?
