What happens when charging reaches charging limit

I really wish if you stopped charging manually that it wouldn't use the grid for preconditioning. I'm lazy and want to leave it plugged in, but I don't want it to use the grid to precondition during peak rates. Or you tap the "start charging" button in the app.

They said it is fully Baja Rally capable.

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

Is it really though? Cybertruck Beast $99,990 FSD: $7-12k depending on when you reserved Free Lifetime connectivity: $99/year UWC: $595 Powershare Mobile Connector: ~$500? (Plus probably ~$50 per outlet adapter.) Powershare Home Backup: ~$6,000? (I think the source code said it included $4k of...

    FSD Beta v11.x

Only when I reset the camera calibration. (Well I think one of the FSD Beta versions reset the setting and required to re-opt in as well.)

P85D LDU failure leak past rotor coolant delete by QCC

Rumor is that the latest "U" revision of the LDUs from Tesla have a "fix" for the issue. But I would think it might introduce cooling issues. (It was intended to cool the rotor, can you just bypass it with no negative implications?) I honestly can't believe that people think every failure...

OEM CCS adapter now available to order in North America, Retrofit for older cars coming in 2023

I've seen a couple people report problems when charging in the cold. I think they were getting an error about the charge port temperature changing too fast, which is likely a result of the "hack" to make the old charge port compatible with the new ECU. (I tried to search quickly to find the...

    FSD Beta v11.x

So the wipers were so bad with this version that I tried cleaning them with IPA, which made them actually clear the windshield better, but only made a slight improvement in the auto-wiper functionality. That resulted in me finally using the SEXY buttons that I bought. I set one to "wipers off"...

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

Running them empty would be a complete waste. They probably transport vehicles on their trip to pickup more new Teslas. (That could be bringing trade-in vehicles to a central place, or even moving vehicles around for dealers.)
  9. M

    Tesla Unionization

All I saw is that they might stop transporting Teslas that are headed to Sweden. I haven't heard anything about them stopping the serving of Teslas, or interfering with Teslas staying in Norway.

No, sticking with Tesla being 100% vision based, it will be controlled by hand motions seen by the cabin/selfie camera. 🤣

Tesla Only Wall Charger or Tesla Universal Wall Charger (House Power Share Feature)?

If you already have a Gateway and Powerwall the Tesla Wall Connector will work fine. You only need the Universal version if you don't have a Powerwall. It is probably possible, but highly unlikely that Tesla will offer a retrofit. (It would likely require replacing a minimum of the PCS inside...

    Wiki Model S Delivery Update

What people want, and what people get don't always line up. It is possible that they will continue to make 2023s until all orders placed in 2023 are filled. After all, that is what people ordered.

    Wiki Model S Delivery Update

Sort of true. I messaged them and said I needed to inspect inside before I could accept, and they called me and said that if I promise not to drive it until I accepted they would remotely unlock it. Which was done in seconds. At that point I had the key cards and could lock/unlock at will and...

    Wiki Model S Delivery Update

I never suggested they would pause production for a year. I suggested that they could continue to make 2023 model year vehicles into 2024, and that they don't have to switch model years by any particular date.

    CCS Retrofit Availability (2023)

Technically it only says to check for availability in late 2023, not that it was expected to be available in late 2023.
  19. M

Starting to see 2015s with BMS_u029 and 018

No, but I don't understand how that is relevant. Tesla has stated that the early packs actually lasted longer than they expected them to, and that the failures were not what they expected. (Cells lasted longer than they thought, but things like vibration and moisture ingress caused problems they...

    Wiki Model S Delivery Update

Why? They can wait to start making 2024 vehicles until 12/31/2024. But they can start making 2025 models on 1/2/2024. Or they could continue to make 2023s until next December, and then switch to 2025. (Supported by @SignalX's post just before yours that VW skipped a model year on the Golf R.)...

Discussion: Powershare [V2X feature currently announced for Cybertruck]

But they don't say that. The minimum is a Powershare Gateway and Universal Wall Connector. Or you can have a Powerwall, which requires a normal Gateway.

Discussion: Powershare [V2X feature currently announced for Cybertruck]

It is probably a bidirectional charger in the Cybertruck vs. an inverter. But yes, no other Tesla currently has Powershare capabilities.

    Wiki Model S Delivery Update

I don't see anything about when you have to stop a model year. At a minimum they could make 2023s until 12/30/2024. Are they required to make every model year, or could they skip 2024 altogether?

Discussion: Powershare [V2X feature currently announced for Cybertruck]

Drew posted that you had to have a Powershare Gateway or a Powerwall to handle the neutral connection. If you don't have a Powerwall you have to have a Universal Wall Connector to handle the start-up process during an outage. (If you have a Powerwall then it handles the startup process, and you...

Class action for Model S drive unit failure?

Good luck with that. The factory warranty has a hard-cut off, no extensions for any reason. If you get a drive unit replaced today, your car goes out of warranty tomorrow, and then the drive unit fails they will let you know that if you want it repaired that you have to pay for it. (There might...

Tesla Only Wall Charger or Tesla Universal Wall Charger (House Power Share Feature)?

The battery voltage isn't exposed outside of the Powerwall, so it makes no difference. (They only input/output AC.)
  28. M

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

Unlikely as it didn't have the Beast logo, so it should be an AWD version instead of the Cyberbeasts they were delivering on the 30th.

Discussion: Powershare [V2X feature currently announced for Cybertruck]

Really? What if the only power is EVSE(s). (Like in a lot of parking lots.) How am I going to plug my laptop in to that? My air compressor? Again, what if the only available power is 120v, but I need to use a 240v device? (Maybe the 120v is 20A, and my 240v device is only 5A, so even the 120v...

Discussion: Powershare [V2X feature currently announced for Cybertruck]

So the Outlets & Mods page show a controllable power feed in the Frunk and on the Roof: I wonder if that is 12v, 48v, 120v, and/or 240v. Is that for things like a winch and light bar? Air compressor?

Discussion: Powershare [V2X feature currently announced for Cybertruck]

Not totally, but I think it is highly likely. It does say whenever you need them: But one won't do. Do you really think the outlets in the truck, including the ones in the cab, should be disabled while you are charging? What if you are working in the cab and need the 120v outlet while you are...

Discussion: Powershare [V2X feature currently announced for Cybertruck]

How would that work if you were charging from a 120v AC outlet, and trying to use the 240v outlet in the bed? Correct, and that auto-transformer is in your Powerwall or Powershare Gateway... It is not in the vehicle, as there aren't enough wires to get the neutral out of the vehicle and hooked...

    2022 Model Y - USB Data Ports - USB-A Glovebox Only

It seems like the one people would need, 1522264-00-B, is currently listed as "Over The Counter". Or is that not the correct one? Only the mid-term. non-data, one is listed as Tesla Only. (Quite the weird date ranges there.)

    ALL CyberTruck discussion

You wouldn't, which is why Tesla provides a rear view camera feed on the screen. Just like you can't see out of the back of a loaded pickup truck, or one with a canopy that doesn't have a window in the back door.
  36. M

    ALL CyberTruck discussion

Wrong. It comes with one that can be removed. (And likely was removed from some of the demo trucks.) Just like side view mirrors are required to be installed from that factory, but can be removed in most states. (Tesla has said that they were designed to be easily removable, which means they...

Tesla Only Wall Charger or Tesla Universal Wall Charger (House Power Share Feature)?

Actually neutral and ground can only be connected together at the first means of disconnect. Everywhere beyond that they have to be kept separate by code. The Gateway is normally your first means of disconnect, unless you have a main breaker before that, likely in the meter panel. So ground and...

Car dead, need help. Gurus, please help read errors

There are multiple part numbers depending on if you have a normal or sport drive unit. It looks like they quoted you one with the U revisions, which I think means it has the new coolant bypass. (I'm not positive that the revisions are synced between the different part numbers. That revisions...

Discussion: Powershare [V2X feature currently announced for Cybertruck]

Because I assume that you can use the outlets in the truck while you are charging. And you could be charging on 120v while you are using the 240v outlet in the bed. Or you could be charging on a 6-20, like I do, but want to draw more than 16A from the combined outlets in the truck. (So, you...

Discussion: Powershare [V2X feature currently announced for Cybertruck]

The 9.6kW inverter for the onboard outlets likely has neutral support. The 11.5kW bidirectional charger that is used for the V2H feature likely does not have neutral support. (Since there is no way to get a neutral to/from it.) That was specifically spelled out in Drew's X posts. The NACS, and...

    Power Conversion System (PCS) failure

They might be able to, but I don't think Tesla will sell them a new PCS, so you would have to source one from a crashed vehicle/failed battery pack. (So probably slim pickings there.) And how many independent Tesla repair shops are there? Maybe 5 in the country right now? (Or maybe I have...

Discussion: Powershare [V2X feature currently announced for Cybertruck]

I have to assume that the Powershare Gateway and/or Universal Wall Connector have to have a battery in them to allow for a "dark" start. My guess is that you have to have additional wiring between the Powershare Gateway and the Universal Wall Connector. (Compared to the setup with a Powerwall.)
  45. M

Discussion: Powershare [V2X feature currently announced for Cybertruck]

Nope, no inverter in the gateway. Nope, gateway only handles the switching, and the Powershare one handles creating the neutral. Not DC based, the charger in the car has to be able to be reversed and output AC.
  46. M

Tesla Only Wall Charger or Tesla Universal Wall Charger (House Power Share Feature)?

There is, or will be, a new Powershare version of the Tesla Gateway that does have an auto-transformer. (Or you can have at least one Powerwall to provide that functionality.)
