    Plaid Vibration around 38-42MPH....

It’s absolutely f’ing annoying. You pay so much and get the shortest of short ends of the stick.
  2. WilliamG

    FSD Beta v11.x

You’re not. You just have to set that shortcut. I have mine set to raise suspension, so… yeah.
  3. WilliamG

    FSD Beta v11.x

Right? And the sad thing is there's no other EV I'd rather have right now, either, which is... well, an indictment of the crap that most other manufacturers are putting out there. Same reason I'd only have a Cybertruck right now (if I needed a truck). No other truck excites me like a Cybertruck...

    FSD Beta v11.x

The funny thing is that FSDj does itself no favors. First, the system is junk, we've established that. And second, without working auto wipers it makes a junk system even more junk, since it was crap before the wipers not working was (re)introduced in 11.4.7. Talk about Tesla self sabotaging...

    FSD Beta v11.x

Yep, here in Seattle it won't stop raining. 29 hours later and we're here (measured at my house). Auto wipers unusable last night (had to set them manually).
  6. WilliamG

    FSD Beta v11.x

That must feel so good when it's raining, and you know you're in the right vehicle (aka not a Tesla).
  7. WilliamG

    FSD Beta v11.x

.... and that will never come in the cars we own now. Just got back from a drive in my neighbor's very dusty 2019 VW eGolf, which she paid $15k for back in 2019 (new) after tax credits and VW trying to clear these out. In retrospect, I wish I'd bought one as a second car, because it was a...
  8. WilliamG

    FSD Beta v11.x

Not to mention the cost on service considering the customers going in to complain that wipers don't work.
  9. WilliamG

    FSD Beta v11.x

Yep, and keeping it simple would mean keeping the IR sensor for the wipers. That's a proven system, and there was no reason to replace it other than $. Then again, it is showing consistency for Tesla, - replacing a working technology with a work-in-progress. The number of instances where this is...
  10. WilliamG

    FSD Beta v11.x

It's interesting that he apologized, but not at all surprising this happened in the first place. The vision system is fundamentally flawed. Model 3 was released in 2017, we're almost in 2024 and there's still not what I would consider satisfactory wiper performance in all conditions like you get...

Refresh Model S charge port doesn't open with button on wall/mobile charger

No offense to anyone, but… bollocks. It needs a new piece of hardware installed to fix. See two posts up.

2021 Refresh Model S Rear Creaking

Ok so it’s either the latch in the seat or where it mates. What you can do if you don’t have anyone in the back of your car often (and this is just a for-your/sanity-fix) is to wedge the cloth in the side so that you can put the seat up and wedge it “closed” but not latched. At least you’ll be...

Model S/X Round Steering Wheel & Retrofit

Haha, well, not really. I do wish the seat would go lower, too. Being tall is a pain at times...

Model S/X Round Steering Wheel & Retrofit

I don't, because it doesn't do anything for me!
  17. WilliamG

    Plaid Vibration around 38-42MPH....

Righto. Pay attention to outside temperature next time you're driving and it happens. It's possible what you're experiencing is beyond the norm. If it's easily repeatable, we can tell you what it is, probably, given many of us are familiar with the cold summer tire thing. If you have access to a...

Model S/X Round Steering Wheel & Retrofit

All good, - I get it. I will check another out, as I was rather rushed with the wheel'ed S I sat in. I would like to mess with another.
  19. WilliamG

Model S/X Round Steering Wheel & Retrofit

I'm torn. I lose leg room with the wheel, too (especially getting in and out where I can turn the yoke 180 degrees for so much clearance for my tall ass. It's clear the car was designed around the yoke, that's for sure. I like the yoke for some things, and hate it for others, but...

    Okay? 😅

    Plaid Vibration around 38-42MPH....

If you're in Lafayette, LA, it can definitely hit those temps, it seems. Can you have someone record it from outside the vehicle? It sounds normal to me, but if you're seeing these issues in the 60s and 70s and above, something isn't right.
  22. WilliamG

Model S/X Round Steering Wheel & Retrofit

I'll give it another go, but there's so many things going on here that may not be the same between you and I, for example upper torso height versus lower torso etc. I have my seat at the lowest position, and the yoke at the highest position and out pretty much all the way toward me (give me...

    Plaid Vibration around 38-42MPH....

Depends on the car, but absolutely, yes. https://www.mcgrathautoblog.com/automotive-news/explaining-the-ackermann-effect-in-the-2014-corvette-stingray/
  24. WilliamG

    Plaid Vibration around 38-42MPH....

I'm trying to remember the "exact" temperatures, but I can say I properly notice it when the temperature is consistently in the low 50s or slightly below that. I don't notice it in the 60s and up.
  25. WilliamG

2021 Refresh Model S Rear Creaking

Make sure it's enough cloth that it feels like you have to wedge the seat into position to latch, but also try without the seat latched, but upright.
  26. WilliamG

    Plaid Vibration around 38-42MPH....

It's nothing to do with it, as mentioned. Switch your summer tires out for all-seasons/winters, and the problem goes away. Think of it as the car letting you know it's not got quite as much traction as it would do if it were warmer out...

2021 Refresh Model S Rear Creaking

Does it do it with the seat up but not fully latched (i.e. just sort of sitting upright)? Try this. Wedge a cloth in the side of the seat (NOT the latch area) so that it's in between the door side and the seat. Does it still do it with the seats latched?
  28. WilliamG

Model S/X Round Steering Wheel & Retrofit

Obstruction will be dependent on driver height/position. At 6’5” the wheel cuts off a ton for me.
  29. WilliamG

2021 Refresh Model S Rear Creaking

Have you had someone sit in the back? Is it for sure either side? Put one down and leave one up and check?

2021+ Model S and Model S Plaid Refresh Issues Thread

That's a transient error. I've had that once on my 2022, and then it disappeared right away. I didn't even notice my power steering reduction it was that quick.

FSD built in blind spot mirror?

I wouldn't rely on this, - but more think of it as an aid. It can get confused by rain or lane position since this is not RADAR (and won't be aware of a vehicle speeding up from further back), since this is just based on the vision system. Always do a manual check of your blind spot.

If you fold the seats down does the noise stop?
  33. WilliamG

    FSD Beta v11.x

Based on my experience and many others, - it's nothing to do with a hardware issue, and everything to do with software. I don't remember which version it was where wipers became horrific for me, - but a couple of releases back. Until then, I'd had no real issues with the auto wipers. I knew...

Your reporting of FSDj is not biased. FSDj really is crap.

    FSD Beta v11.x

    This is completely surprising! 🤦🏻‍♂️😂😂😂
  37. WilliamG

    FSD Beta v11.x

Such rubbish. As I’ve said before, I do think FSD enabled makes the car much, much safer. That’s just because the driver will death grip their wheel/yoke and pay a level of attention to the stupid sugar their car will attempt that it becomes just about impossible for it to have an accident...

    Plaid Vibration around 38-42MPH....

That really is what I like to hear. Just hoping that with all the Cybertruck talk (read: disappointment), Tesla don't forget about us plebeian Model S owners waiting for the update.
  43. WilliamG

    Plaid Vibration around 38-42MPH....

Great news. That's what I'm hearing from most, - that it might not be quite gone, but it's gone enough that you probably don't care anymore. Do update, though!

Yep, will come around the same time as FSD is out of beta, and the center horn gets that firmware update to enable it.

    Plaid Vibration around 38-42MPH....

I've not heard of anyone's Plaid vibrating in the rear. The issue is up front, and I'm 99.999999% sure it's nothing to do with the axles.
  47. WilliamG

    Finally, rear display Bluetooth speakers

None. Wouldn’t be surprised if it doesn’t have the capability at all.

MS Plaid vs Taycan vs EQS

Sure, but I’m just explaining why the Taycans are being discounted heavily.
  49. WilliamG

MS Plaid vs Taycan vs EQS

Both are great cars. We won’t see progress unless there’s competition, so I’m glad it exists. I don’t own the Turbo S but a good friend of mine does. Now, as far as I’m aware the speed difference between the Turbo and Turbo S is all in the launch. Just an overboost option for the Turbo S. I kind...

MS Plaid vs Taycan vs EQS

Negatives: nowhere near as practical or roomy for driver or passengers, way slower than a Plaid, smaller trunk than a Model 3, awful awful infotainment system, two gears is noticeable, no one-pedal driving (deal killer). The reason these are cheap is there’s too many of them, and refresh/new...
