I bought a new drive unit about a month ago and it took a crap. So there is a 4 year warranty on the drive unit.
I was charged $1k for replacement of a HV cable to the HV junction box and some other parts. The motor was free as was the related labor
Just found that on Autopilot I can wiggle the wheel the same distance as the video and it does that, could it just be some slack in the linkage down to the steering rack?
Just got my car back from service getting a new motor (got the U variant 😎)
Anyway the tech said he noticed the wheel ticks and said it will need a new steering rack but apparently since I was in for such a major component I have to make a new appt for this.
Anyway it is possible there is...
It's not that there are none it's that you're not allowed to see them from the previous owner. This has always been Teslas policy on the service records
Yeah I'm not sure what he's talking about. The steering was stiff and the u joint replacement makes sense but I'll have to drive it to see what the noise is jes talking about. Although isn't there a fix for steering rack noise by putting a shim under one side of the steering rack?
they said the car is done and I'm gonna go grab it. see the attachments for the invoice it was $1400 total cost.
Looks like i got the new motor (ASSEMBLY - REMAN - SPORT REAR DRIVE UNIT - LDU(1025598-01-U)) so hopefully it really is a fix to it being a ticking time bomb with the water seal...
Well today the SC told me that my rear motor took a crap on me and that it needs to be replaced which is the best of news because its still under warranty. So the estimate was like $7k and i messaged them saying it was under warranty but i approved the repair so they can get to work on ordering...
Why the hell do they call it vegan leather instead of what it is… Pleather? Is it just marketing because pleather has a bad name? We've made advances in pleather tech it's much better that it was in the 90's.
Obviously it's not leather by any stretch of the imagination because it's vegan...
Hahahahaha get good how does a simple moving picture make you dizzy‽ 😂
They have it in for diag said that will be done by COB tomorrow then they will let me know. I'm hoping for coolant heater or rear motor. The first is cheap and the second is still under warranty 😂
I haven't touched the car since the other day and today I'm driving it to the SC and there are no errors presenting, probably still there in service mode but I don't wanna risk putting it in park till I'm at the shop.
The estimate has a diag of the HV system for like $250. I'm thinking of just...
I got a few errors this morning when I went to go drive see pic for error list.
Anyone know what these errors usually mean broke? Last time I got a vehicle may not restart error it was the rear large drive unit like 5k miles ago which I had replaced.
Different part numbers I got the remanufactured motor you're getting quoted for a new one that's like $1500 more expensive.
Also that first 600 bucks is the labor cost on you're estimate.
Also mine is a large sport motor you have the base motor so I don't if they sell remanufactured ones of...
Get a remanufactured one from Tesla thats what i did when mine went out last month. It's much cheaper and it has the same 4 year warranty Tesla gives on a new drive unit if they were to install it for you.
I literally just plugged into a V2 station in TX and guess what‽ that's right I was pulling a whipping 34kW for 30 min till the other car left and I got the full 120kW my % should pull from a free station.
So maybe it's only the new cars, but I've plugged into V2 stations in 15 states and it's...
I dono asking $2k for a warranty from 10 people and 1 fails you're even which seems reasonable. Also I paid $1500 for the warranty after the 100 upgrade and I've got like 2k more miles before it's up anyway and I'm about to drive across the country gain which will be the final void mileage...
My LDU went belly up last month the price they are quoting you is for a new motor, a rebuild one is much cheaper and it has the exact same warranty. They offered me both and I was like cheaper with the same warranty why the hell not go for it. Also 4 year/50k miles is the warranty BTW.
I had my 85 pack upgraded back in May 2023 but it was still in great condition I just wanted the 100 pack but I digress. Before replacing it I was at 232 miles when charged to 100% that was around 172k miles on that being the stock pack from 2014.
The
Then riddle me this Batman why have I never gotten over 35kW when I'm the secondary car on a V2 charger as recently as yesterday‽ But when I'm the primary car I get around 110kW as recently as last Friday.
Also I'm on software 2023.38.4
That is entirely wrong.
A V2 will give max power to the car that plugged in first (110-120ish kW) and then about 35kW to the other till the primary car drops down below the max and then it will slowly ramp up the secondary car with that extra juice.
I know this because I've charged a zillion...
I charge at 140kW and even when I'm towing I only charge for 30-40 minutes.
Free charging is worth my weight in gold with all the driving I do road tripping
Im c
I'm currently at 85% if I switch to miles it says 250 if I change from rated to ideal it says 322. Basically the ideal miles is what they use for adverts and marketing but it's not real because it means doing 55mph on a flat smooth road with zero winds or anything.
Yeah there are a lot of small bits that get replaced and those little suckers add up when there are so many of them lol
here is part of the invoice I can't find the final one but the total at the base of this is $20k
It was a wind and sand damage claim so they replaced the headlights ($1200/ea) windshield ($1300) mirrors, spoiler, nosecone, some random small trim pieces. But yeah the out the door cost was right around $37k.
If you're eligible (obviously) USAA is amazing and cheap. I just had my car repainted for wind and sand damage, I paid $0 and USAA paid around $37k no stupid questions and very easy to deal with representatives.
Yup, the first 170k miles on my car were with the stock 85 pack. It works just fine, it charges slow but as long as you're a type B personality and just chill out and watch some TV while it charges for 45 min every stop you're fine. I used to drive a 400 mile road trip 2x a month before I...
A couple months ago I sat down and talked to Brian about towing with my car and figured y'all might wanna check it out.
I'm not a huge fan of talking to cameras so off the cuff I was forgetting things but overall it's a good video
Yeah I dono if I just happen to always end up at awesome shops or what but in all my years of having this car I've never had a bad experience at any shop I've been to, which as of now is like 5 different shops in 4 states
If the fan is making odd noise it may be going out, perhaps some wd40 but I dono. If it's just running at full speed it's pretty damn loud so it could just be played tricks on your ears. But just like any part you can usually just order it from the SC and install it yourself
First let me say I live full time in my RV so I'm a constant tourist.
Anyway I was out driving to DC and the "vehicle may not restart" error came up but then went away like 30 seconds later and I was like 5 min from where I was going so I just went.
I parked and walked away for like 10 min and...
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Air… as I said above is 78% nitrogen. When they fill your tires with straight nitrogen you end up with about 80-85% nitrogen inside the tire. So basically just use normal air because you're not getting any benefits as minimal as they may be anyway
I've found out over the hundreds of thousands of miles I've driven in my life the best mix of air for tires in any vehicle is a mixture of 78% nitrogen, 21% oxygen, .8% argon, and a super small bit of of carbon dioxide, neon, helium, and methane.
What is vegan leather like can we just call it faux leather since that's what it is? If it's vegan it's not real therefore it's not leather. All this marketing drives me nuts.
Anyway I've always had good luck with just simple armorall wipes on my older cars that had pleather in them (vegan...
The shop in Rancho Cucamonga was awesome but they closed and moved to Upland and they were still amazing helpful folks when I was last down there like a year ago.
Nothing beats the Valentine One. Except for the ****ing glass windshield of the stupid ass Tesla lol.
I wish they had the "open space" in the older cars but nope full coverage of the metallic coating over the whole damn windshield.
I have a whistler in mine and it works reasonably good but not...
I use magnets for my front plate. I never put it on but should I ever get a fix it ticket I can just pop it on and then take it back off without issue.
Use some RTV or any caulking type material you have lying around and stick 3 magnets into the spaces on the back of the plate holder where it...
Mine has 305 miles at 100%. From what I've read online the 2022 model 3 long range has 350 epa rated miles which would translate closer to 300, but if I did the epa range button on my car it's 370.
I've gotten a 75 as a loaner before and it was more powerful than this basic 3. Power and charging speed aside why does it start preconditioning the battery for supercharging 2 damn hours before I'm supposed to arrive there. My S it doesn't do it till like 15-20 min prior. How is it wasting...
Interesting you say the SC is faster, maybe compared to a nerfed 85 pack… but the max I've got with this car is 141kW and I was watching it from 10% all the way to 40% and that was it's max, my S hits 140kW on the regular with the 100 pack so the speed is the same really.
Hahahahah you'd hate to see the tech forum I'm on like every 10th person has a gif avatar.
It's not to be annoying I just like it, but I do find it humorous that it annoys people😂😂
but you can get a parrot in any countries flag if anyone wants to join the parrot gang 😂😎
The rear DU has water from the coolant over time ya know that manufacturer defect lol but it did take 188k miles to fail. So they are gonna order me a new motor that should take a couple days and hopefully that's all that is wrong. I haven't gotten the estimate yet but he did say the price has...
I have a 2014 P100D model S and I got the vehicle will not start and other BMS errors yesterday so I was able to drive it to to the service center and they said it's a isolation prob and they're gonna do a full diagnostic on the lift today to find the actual issue.
Anyway they were super...
We can argue all day about this but the end result is percentage is better. how many posts have you seen where someone says I ran out of juice at 30 miles vs how many posts people ran out when it's on percentage? Exactly my point of why miles is bull.
The 85 packs got nerfed back on like 2019 or so. Before the nerf at 50% SoC I could pull 72kW from a supercharger. After the nerf 50% SoC I could only pull 52kW.
This is one of the reasons I did the upgrade with 057 tech to the 100 pack, now it doesn't drop to 50kW until 83% SoC
Also turn that...
