    FSD Beta v11.x

In my case when this happens, the car appears to think the 4-way stop is a 3-way stop. Not sure why.

Supercharger - Encinitas, CA - Encinitas Blvd (under construction Oct 2023, 8 V3 stalls and service center)

FWIW, SDGE trucks have been out working at night along Encinitas Blvd from the Ford dealership going towards the Tesla Superchargers store for the last couple weeks - wonder if they're doing work related to getting enough power for the Superchargers... It's only 2 V3 cabinets, so around 387 kVA...

    Coronavirus

Yeah, having had COVID once, it was bad enough that I want to reduce the risk of getting it and long-COVID risk still appears to be real. Any side effects from the vaccine are negligible compared to the disease. Same reason I get the flu shot - no real risk of severe outcomes, but minimizing the...

    Coronavirus

Got the Novavax booster over the weekend. For me, side effects were mild - next day felt a bit achy and tired, but not bad compared to previous Pfizer and Moderna shots. Most interesting side effect was that my arm was pretty immediately slightly painful in the shoulder muscle the shot as...

Those iON EVO summer tires look nice and sticky - hopefully they share the comfort and efficiency qualities of the AS version of the tire!

What should my ideal charge percentage be?

Then don't do it? The reality is that you get maximum range when you want it with a bit of battery tending. For my use, it causes basically no extra hassle, here's what I do: Set max charge to 55% Set preferred charge start time to utilize off-peak electricity rates Plug the car back in when...

Power Trunk Retrofit on Model 3s now Available Direct from Tesla [09.14.2023 - 2018 model 3 not eligible]

Anyone know why it's not available for early Model 3s? This would be a really nice upgrade! BTW, it's back in stock for the time being...

4% appears to be way low for PG&E. They are asking the CPUC to approve a 22% rate hike and the CPUC countered with "only" a 12.2% rate hike. https://www.nbcbayarea.com/news/pge-asks-california-regulators-rate-hike/3346013/

Discussion: Model 3 and Y price drop Jan 2023 / April 2023 / Oct 2023 and All other Pricing Speculation going forward

Not totally surprising, up until the last week of the quarter, discounts on inventory cars of $2-4k was pretty readily available. Now with the FSD transfer promotion over, I wouldn't be surprised to see that they either need to reinstate that or drop prices further.

Always interesting to see the mental gymnastics that go through people's minds when these "studies" come out claiming that catching COVID provides better defense against catching COVID again compared to the vaccine - never mind that these so called studies usually have many issues with them...

Hankook new iON tire, an "EV" tire (not the same as Kinergy GT)

    Elon Musk - SpaceX version

Elon has promoted the idea that the Ukraine should just give up and accept that Putin take control of much, if not all of the Ukraine. Not to mention, with a voice as loud as his, any dissention from the government stance is useful. It's clear as day which country is in the right here and what...

Model 3 SR+ LFP Battery Range, Degradation, etc Discussion

Really nice charts! Can I suggest a couple enhancements? 1. Color code the lines by miles/month using some sort of hot-cold gradient. Would be harder to tell cars apart, but would make it easier to tell which lines have more miles than others. 2. Add an average line to the chart. Should make...

Bad front upper shock mount (short close-up video)?

Useful info - curious, does the new top-hat still allow the strut shaft to move as much as the one in your video? That sure does seems like an excessive amount of movement with low force.

Review: Hankook iON evo AS vs Pirelli AS+ Elect vs Michelin PS 4S vs Michelin PS AS 4

Tesla has been known to ship cars with too much toe-out on the rear tires that will in turn eat up the inner shoulders like kids eating candy on Halloween. Get your alignment checked - there's a number of threads on the forum that cover this topic. You may get a bit more efficiency as well.

    Coronavirus

Anecdotally, have had more confirmed cases of COVID in the last few weeks when it'd been pretty rare for a while, so there is likely something to the data that shows cases are on the rise. Bring on the boosters! Still do not want to get long COVID.

    Supercharger - Castaic, CA (LIVE 13 Aug 2022, 12 V3 stalls)

Charged here a few weeks ago. It wasn't immediately clear which side of the lot to park on and many others had the same issue. One would assume that you'd park on the side away from the businesses when driving in, closest to the street, but you're actually supposed to park on the other side...

    Shorting Oil, Hedging Tesla

Just eyeballing it, it looks like around 200 GWh of batteries should allow us to flatten it out. With 4-hour duration storage project today, that's about 50 GW of power on tap, which sounds about right. CAISO has added about 5 GW of batteries in the last 5 years - I highly doubt it will take...

    FSD Beta v11.x

I've got a 3-way stop where FSDb thinks it's a 2-way stop so it ends up creeping forever until it decides it's clear to go. It appears to be a map issue, because you can see on the display that only two of the stops are rendered. Is there a known way to help get that type of map data corrected...

Solved: Road Noise & Front Wind Noise

Just to be clear, it appears that this would help primarily with B-pillar wind noise? I have a bit of A-pillar wind noise at highway speeds on the passenger side of the car, which doesn't appear to the plastic triangle.

    Micheline Crossclimate 2's on a 18" Model 3 LR

On the freeway, while they are louder than the OEM tires a bit, I don't find it excessive. At city speeds, they definitely "sing" a bit due to the tread design, but I don't find it offensively noisy.

Supercharger - Fresno, CA - North Blackstone Ave. (LIVE 11 Aug 2021, 8 V3 stalls)

Visited here on July 11th - Site was basically full despite it being rather late at night, so did not get full V3 speeds at first, only around 90 kW. The speed slowly ramped up, I presume as other cars ramped down. Finally two cars left and then speeds jumped up to normal, but by then had...

    FSD discussion

This intersection is weird (not defending FSD here, it's pretty clear that it didn't appear that it was going to stop to avoid hitting the Audi), but the stop line for the stop sign is pretty close to where Ross ended up stopping, so I think that if he was over the line, it wasn't by much...

    Most efficient tire?

The CrossClimate is not good efficiency wise, though. At least 10% worse than the OEM tires in my experience. And they are louder than the OEM tires, especially at low to medium speeds where they sing a bit. But they do grip really well in wet and cold conditions! Sportiness? They are a bit...

    FSD Beta v11.x

I use FSD on a daily basis, so now you're purposely misreading what I'm saying on purpose just to argue. My statement is that when FSDb does something stupid that can put you in a position where the car is acting erratically, delaying traffic, or otherwise acting like a drunk student driver...

    FSD Beta v11.x

While you may be right - I refuse to drive like an inconsiderate piece of work just because others do so. Tragedy of the commons is a real thing, but that doesn't make it right.
  39. D

    FSD Beta v11.x

Yeah, FSD desperately needs some context aware speed adjustments to road conditions to override perceived speed limits. I would think that this shouldn't be that hard using a combination of techniques: 1. Use actual non-FSD median speeds on roads. 2. Building on 1 - add in time of day, weather...

    FSD Beta v11.x

Fair enough! No, I can't keep up with this thread, that would require monitoring this thread alone to be a full-time job. :) FSDb has it's glimmers of brilliance, but then it does some really weird, weird stuff. Edit: removed my thumbs down, btw, clearly misunderstood your post.

    FSD Beta v11.x

I have no idea - I disagreed because you LOLd in reply to one of my posts and implied I had no idea what I was talking about because I might have a Model S or X. Which doesn't matter, by the way.
  42. D

    FSD Beta v11.x

No, I don't. I got tired of arguing with people who claim that FSD is perfect - that it never breaks any laws, and that creating hazardous situations with erratic behavior often enough that you feel the need to put "student driver" stickers on your car is an acceptable idea, when you should...

Climate Change / Global Warming Discussion

Just in the USA, 36 million cows are slaughtered every year. 200,000 is 0.5%. Barely noticeable. But does it really matter, globally, unless the consumption of cows also changes which is something that really needs to happen? Cows are only cheap nutrition if you ignore the land, water and...

    CPUC NEM 3.0 discussion

Time to contact your local congressperson. I have no issues paying my share of taxes, I just think that putting taxes into utility bills are the wrong way to do it. FSD Beta v11.x

In my experience, it's not the letter of the law that causes the most issues for me that require me to disengage. It's the over cautiousness at intersections (just how far is it going to creep into a 4-way stop before it decides it's safe to go?), erratic behavior making turns (rapid back and...

    Coronavirus

Confirmation bias here can confirm (thankfully only half the household got it thanks to social distancing, ventilation and masking once we realized what our child had).
  47. D

    FSD Beta v11.x

The fact that people feel the need for these signs is troubling. If your testing of FSD is affecting the flow of traffic, disengage and drive manually. Do not force others to deal with Tesla's erratic FSD behavior.

Hankook new iON tire, an "EV" tire (not the same as Kinergy GT)

The May 4th trip was on the worn OEM tires? That makes the results even more impressive as I've found new tires to easily be 10% less efficient or worse for the first thousand miles or so.

I feel like USB has almost always been prone to flakiness to some degree in computers for as long as I can remember, so I'm not surprised that issues with USB storage could be causing issues with general hiccups, delays and latency in the operating system. Combine this with trying to write data...
