    ALL CyberTruck discussion

I prefer Tesla to advertise cars where demand is below production capacity to people that are unaware of the competitive advantages of Model 3, Model S and maybe Model Y. Tesla has no need to advertise Cybertruck and Model X( where demand exceeds production capacity) to Tesla fans and haters...

We have seen at least one guy pay $400k for an early Cybertruck at the Peterson Museum Auction but selling high priced Cybertrucks first is a smart way to hamper flippers. And not the dumb way of making every customer sign an agreement not to sell their Cybertruck for a year...

It is a standard full size bed that fits a standard sheet of plywood with the tailgate down. The frunk is small. Two overhead luggage pieces and a bit more. Unlike most full size pickups, the CT will fit in most American garages.

I care that CT is faster than a 911 while pulling a 911. Lower prices only means fatter profits for flippers. I am ok with these prices until there is no longer long wait times and demand is falling below production capacity. We already knew ramp was ~18 months. First ever mass produced SS...

I predicted dual motor 320 mile range CT for $68k. Dual motor 340 mile range CT is $68,890. No option for anything close to 500 or Silverado EV's 450 mile range. Yep, almost certainly way more efficient.

You don't know how much space the cells in the standard pack take. Tesla hasn't been promising the impossible for 4 years. They may not have hit their targets but it is not impossible.

That is the thing with the franchise model: prices are always fluctuating. But is usually hidden. CT should also qualify for the tax credit. That shouldn't be a differentiator.

In 2019 Tesla projected a CT with dual motors and 300 miles of range for $50k. Adjusted for inflation that would be $60,200 today. A Ford Lightning dual motors with 320 miles of range has an MSRP of $70k. A base dual motor 240 mile range truck has an MSRP of $50k. A base dual motor CT with...

    Russia/Ukraine conflict

You would have to pay a master electrician or equivalent $150/hr plus to fix the powertrain in the US. In Ukraine a person with same skill set might be willing to work for $10/hr. Plus, American car insurance companies are normally risk averse. Doubly so with electric cars. When in doubt...

US Market Situation and Outlook (Rob Stark's American Megathread)

The reality is most PHEV are purchased with heavy incentives. So people that can't or have no intention of plugging them in buy them because they are cheaper than ICE alternative. Like PHEV owners in The Netherlands and UK where most of these studies are done showing no one plugs in. City...

US Market Situation and Outlook (Rob Stark's American Megathread)

92 kWh battery is quite large. If plugged in and used as electric for city driving and ICEv for long range driving PHEVs are significantly better than pure ICEv for human health and the environment. If you price the PHEV at or below the ICEv you attract many who will not use the PHEV properly...

3.6L V6 runs on Atkinsons cycle for maximum efficiency. But we know a PHEV/EREV is not going to as efficient as standard hybrid on highway. 24 mpg(F-150 hybrid) vs 20 mpg(Ramcharger). Nor will a PHEV/EREV be as efficient in the City as BEV. Don't know exact numbers for Ramcharger yet. The...

No. Unless Tesla boost power or Lucid increases onboard booster, Lucids wil charge at ~45 kW at Tesla Superchargers. Moving forward Tesla will continue to use NACS, non-Tesla charges will offer CCS in addition to NACS for a while then CCS connectors will start to dissapear. Many may wait to...

Unlike ICEv, 0-60 and range in BEVs are a byproduct of powertrain efficiency. Performance EVs get wider stickier tires for ultimate 0-60 while those focused on range get low rolling resistance tires but the powertrain is virtually identical. Neither Elon Musk, RJ Scaringe nor Peter Rawlinson...
