Question: Rear Screen audio in the 2021 Model S LR

OMG, finally! If I had to listen to Cocomelon one more time I would go insane.

    Square vs staggered

I am running Michelin PS4S 295/35/20 all around and they work great. Don't know what I am going to run for the winter yet as still well above freezing. May not bother with it for the 1 month or so it is cold enough to need something other than summer tires. Likely I'll just drive the 3 with the...

    Square vs staggered

I've been totally happy with 20" squared. I think you'll be fine going 19" squared. While I like the SV104s, that wheel is pretty played out for me. I see them everywhere. YMMY of course. The rotation aspect and tire warranty are 2 of the biggest pluses for me. The 20's have been a great...

Roof rack vs rear hitch rack for bicycles

A lot of this will vary depending on the rack and bikes you have. There is no one size fits all answer her. The bike rack I had did interfere with the parking sensors, (if your car has them), and I imagine most bike racks will that are horizontal. Again though, each rack is different. Keep in...

    Are bragging rights worth $15k?

It is obvious when you drive them back to back assuming you get up in the upper speed ranges. For a lot of people stuck in a dense urban environment, you might never take advantage of it. I was definitely impressed the first time I hit the accelerator at about 65 mph. It was the first time my...

I'm going to be odering a Plaid S and I'm requesting opinions of anyone who has the track pack ceramic brake upgrade

No point going with anything other than the factory BBK. As mentioned, the price is reasonable for what you get. The 2 things that absolutely pushed me over the edge was factory warranty and 200 mph unlock. No aftermarket option is going to off that. The more I drive my car with these brakes...

Towing travel trailer with Model Y

In the paid-for version of ABRP, you can set up different profiles (unless they removed it). I did different ones for my 2 large jetskis, my single motorcycle trailer and tandem motorcycle trailer. Another option is to add extra weight under vehicle.

Alternative, DIY refresh Model X rear camber correction

If you want someone to do it, talk to Miguel at MadWorks Customs in Lewisville. He always has a few Teslas in for suspension work. He did the MPP coilovers on my 3. Very good work and reasonably priced.

Model 3 LR RWD or Model Y LR AWD

This is a great point. Especially if you can't plug in and have to use onboard power to cool/heat the car rather than using shore power to preheat/cool the car. The car I track the most closely on this is my Model S Plaid. Overall, I am at about 335 wh/mile since new. My first mile or two might...

Model 3 LR RWD or Model Y LR AWD

I'd say it depends on what you value. I had an MY LR and it was a practical, but incredibly boring car to drive. The M3 is just so much more fun to drive on a daily basis. The efficiency is far better too. For me the MY was like driving an appliance. I found myself taking the M3 a lot just to go...

[Canada] Looking for advice on buying a used Tesla, is it worth the savings if I'm keeping it long term

FSD is almost worthless. It might add 2k value to the car. There are improvements throughout the years so I'd lean towards the 2022 or 2023. The 2022's will have the parking sensors (USS), the 23's won't. Here are my thoughts assuming all the color combos are comparable and you like them. I'd...

Looks like Taycan prices are dropping rapidly as well

The reason Tayan's prices have fallen is it doesn't appear Porsche is moving them very well. I think you'll continue to see pricing pressure on Taycans. Here is a quote from another website regarding their current sales. "In Q2, Porsche sold 1,635 Porsche Taycan electric cars (all versions)...

    Are bragging rights worth $15k?

The MS LR won't hit the 3.1 claimed 0-60 times. The M3P will beat it all day long to 60 mph if that is what you like. The MS LR launches a lot more softly. While the typical 3.4 sec to 60 seems good on paper, it is lacking the visceral thrill of the launch of the M3P let alone the Plaid. The M3P...

Road and Track EV Performance Car of the Year

My thoughts exactly. I tried posting that in the comments but it never went through. They should have a track mode "lite" version where you get the torque vectoring and other handling improvements with all the super cooling of motor and batteries for when you want more fun but aren't pushing it...

What should my ideal charge percentage be?

Leave it plugged in all the time. If you don't need the range, charge it to 50-55% to minimize battery degradation. Don't run it below about 20%. Keep the discharge cycles low such as charge from 40% back to 50% if you can rather than waiting for it to get to 20% and then back to 50%. So I just...

Model S Plaid Track Package Waiting Room

Jamie @SignatureSales said he could build a set of 19's that would clear after taking measurements on my car and another. I have to say that the 20's are working out pretty well, especially with the 295's all around.

    Actual standard Model X acceleration?

Decent run. Those soft launches the MS LR and MX LR are just killing the 0-60 times. Try it without drag strip mode and cheetah. It made no difference on my MS LR. A lot of hassle for nothing.

I love my model s plaid!!!

I had several surgeries this past year that made getting in and out of my car more difficult for me. The S still worked well for me. The 3 was a pain by comparison, literally. The X will be better but I found have the S in the high suspension mode definitely helped. I have to say I hope I'll...

    Russia/Ukraine conflict

    Russia/Ukraine conflict

One thing I've learned about Russia. I wouldn't rule out their technical capabilities. Often, it is offset by corruption but they have a lot of brilliant engineers. Best not to forget that they were the first in space. They are also good at espionage but likely lag behind the Chinese currently...

    Are bragging rights worth $15k?

The LR is pretty close to a C8 Z06 in the 1/4 and 60-130. Depending on the car, a touch quicker. Not bad for a 5 seater, family car base model. Most C8 owners I've spoken to have been very happy about their car's performance.

    Are bragging rights worth $15k?

Yep, that was my first impression of my MS LR when I got on it at about 60 mph for the first time. I was impressed. While not as quick as the Plaid, the vast majority of people would be happy with it.

    Russia/Ukraine conflict

Haven't seen confirmation anywhere else, but if accurate, this would be a bad thing for any Ukrainian aircraft. It would have implications for the F35 as well. https://www.theburningplatform.com/2023/10/26/ukraines-sudden-high-air-losses-likely-caused-by-new-russian-missiles/

Not everyone has it. Easy to fix if you have it. You'll know pretty quickly if you do.

    What has changed?

The heatpump helps but I think you are looking at least a 10% hit. Could be more if really cold. Still far better than any other company out there. Obviously, preconditioning helps.

    What has changed?

This is the one thing I hate the most. I have adapted but still it is a miss that they carried over to the new 3. It clearly isn't an improvement and if you have to do 3 point turns a lot, you aren't going to like it. OTOH, Enhance Auto (makers of S3XY buttons) is supposedly working on a fix...

I love my model s plaid!!!

On one hand I agree with you. On the other hand, they might have tweaked some things if they raised the top speed limiter to 200 mph. There were reports that the car felt somewhat unsettled at about 170 previously. I've ran mine to the speed limiter with no feelings like that with the track...

I love my model s plaid!!!

Yes, they updated track mode when you get the track pack brakes. Don't know if they've done anything with the non-track pack brake cars. I agree about how much track mode transforms the car. They should have an option to get some of the benefits when you don't need all the cooling aspects of...

Considering a Plaid...but do you think it's "worth it"?

I've learned something about bias in my lifetime; it is all a matter of perspective. I don't put much faith in any of the sources that talk about the supposed bias of a site. Decision between Enhanced Autopilot vs. FSD

^^^ what beatle said. None of the assisted driving options are remotely worth what Tesla is charging. Go with base AP and call it a day. Rent FSD if you want from time to time. Anyone bought the track package for a daily driver?

I did just the track pack CCB brakes. I went with 10" wheels. You could run 10.5" for sure all around. I went with 10's as it gives me a bit more sidewall buffer and the wheel isn't stretched so much across the rim.

What should my ideal charge percentage be?

Keep in mind that what @AAKEE says is accurate, any performance or long range version of a recent Tesla is still going to be very quick compared to most cars. You can get 20's with acoustic foam depending on the size. I got them for my square setup in 20's. Just go with the 19's and buy a nice set of 20's. Put the 4500 toward everything.

What should my ideal charge percentage be?

All Teslas' performance suffer as the SoC go down. For the most part, it isn't noticeable in the 0-60 sprint. It is measurable but not that noticeable for most people. I took friends in my 3 when at 100% and at 50%, they couldn't tell the difference. Might be about 0.2 seconds. It does drop off...

Dave EV hit right on the head. Super easy to do once you get in the swing of it. Just set it at 55% and forget it. It paid off for me in minimizing degradation. I am not using up my battery needlessly. I still have plenty of juice. Really no impact for me on a daily basis. If I have to go...
