I am pretty sure the car turns blue when the auto pilot is actually using the vehicle to determine drive path. That is totally a guess based on what I saw.

Not sure anyone cares at this point but P90D, delivered 9/29/15, Chicago, IL, not hooked to wifi so over LTE, received update notification via iPhone at 2PM, started upgrade at 2:15PM, competed notification 3:45PM, all times Central Time.
