Tesla infotainment system upgradeable from MCU1 to MCU2 for $2500 [$1500 as of Jan 21, 2020]

Not sure about all the symtoms of a failing eMMC, but that frequent total loss of audio is quite annoying and I could neither find any more info about that specific issue online, nor did the technician at our local SeC have any idea.

Tesla infotainment system upgradeable from MCU1 to MCU2 for $2500 [$1500 as of Jan 21, 2020]

Nice, I didn't know that! But then the recurring problems we are experiencing, like missing characters and other distortions on the MCU, or complete loss of the audio system including the turn signal and autopilot sounds, which can not be brought back by a reset of the MCU or ICU, but only by...

Something else that came to mind: Can you request to get the replaced MCU1 handed out or will the SeC keep it?

Tesla infotainment system upgradeable from MCU1 to MCU2 for $2500 [$1500 as of Jan 21, 2020]

Reading this, I'm wondering if there has there ever been a report of yellowing on the latest generation of MCU2 used in the retrofit, or is this now definitely an issue from the past?

Tesla infotainment system upgradeable from MCU1 to MCU2 for $2500 [$1500 as of Jan 21, 2020]

The hip factor and the problem of dying eMMC gone! Functional I am not dissatisfied with what our MCU1 has to offer. Since ours is a Model S facelift, it already has the LTE module. Yes, it's quite slow at times, and yes, quite a lot of software annoyances lately (like complete loss of audio...

Tesla infotainment system upgradeable from MCU1 to MCU2 for $2500 [$1500 as of Jan 21, 2020]

That's odd, because that looks like the regular price including the HW3 retrofit, which wasn't applicable for your vehicle. That would mean owners of of AP1.0 vehicles pay a premium for the same upgrade with only one price in place (so the same price with and without the HW3 retrofit).

Tesla infotainment system upgradeable from MCU1 to MCU2 for $2500 [$1500 as of Jan 21, 2020]

Indeed, that's the info here in my country as well, so currently only AP2.0 and AP2.5 vehicles eligible for that retrofit. Thanks. How much did you pay for it? Because the assumption was, that the retrofit for AP1 vehicles must be cheaper due to the missing HW3 upgrade. So if that's correct...

Tesla infotainment system upgradeable from MCU1 to MCU2 for $2500 [$1500 as of Jan 21, 2020]

Has there any AP1 vehicle already been eligible for the MCU2 upgrade? And if yes, what is the part number of that MCU2 retrofit for AP1 vehicles? I've been caught by the following confusing situation: Two days ago my local SeC informed me that the MCU2 retrofit can now be ordered, which I did...

Tesla now repairing MCU1 with a new Tegra card for less than $500

Our MCU1 from 2016 also shows some typical early signs of a failing eMMC and we already have a service appointment 2 days before the warranty ends in September (though we are definitely going for the 4J warranty extension). The question is now, how do I get our service center to exchange that...

Appeal to Tesla to unlock all those software-limited High Amperage Chargers

Yeah, not so here in Europe (and everywhere else where there is 3-phase power) because all three charging boards are required to make use of 3-phase power and to not cause out of balance power consumption, which isn't allowed by the grid operators. That software-limitation was just a bad idea...

The 3-phase High Amperage Charger in all facelift Model S and all Model X ordered before July 1, 2017, was software limited to 11 kW although the hardware is capable of doing 16.5 kW, unless one chose the option to pay a fierce premium for those 5.5 kW more in AC charging rate, which is still...

245/35R21 front & 265/35R21 rear tires - Deeper meaning behind this and can it be changed?

You mean that the rear rims are wider? If that's the case, I didn't know. The mentioned (European) tire dimensions show that the rear tires are 20 mm ~ 0.79 inch wider and from the looks of it one can clearly see the difference of the tires to the rims, which made me assume the rims are the same...

245/35R21 front & 265/35R21 rear tires - Deeper meaning behind this and can it be changed?

The rims (in my case 21" Arachnids) obviously are the same, but the back wheels came with a wider tire. The Michelin Pilot Super Sport Acoustic is not a specific EV tire and my guess is that the wider rear tires are just supposed to provide a better wheel grip for RWD sports cars (clearly not an...

75 and 75D variants increased performance from July 1st - software and hardware improvements?

    12v constant in rear trunk

Unfortunately I can not see any pictures you posted. I assume you need to be logged in somewhere else to be able to view them? So would a 10A fuse be recommended in that case? Clearly the catch here is, that if you put a cooler into the truck connected to that 12V socket, you have to operate...

    12v constant in rear trunk

That's great, I really want to add a 12V socket to my trunk for the cooler as well. I have just taken a look, the cooler requires max. 48W. Does it require an additional fuse to connect a 12V socket to the power liftgate module, and if yes which one?

75 and 75D variants increased performance from July 1st - software and hardware improvements?

It really sounds too good to be true, but although I wish this became reality for @Mark77a, I rather think that this is a mistake and that the SC didn't realize it's not a S 75D beforehand. @Mark77a, you wrote that you will not get your car back before Monday. So you are not absolutely sure...

75 and 75D variants increased performance from July 1st - software and hardware improvements?

That doesn't sound right, no S75 RWD produced before June 2017 can have the new drivetrain, hence is not uncorkable. Can you send me your complete VIN by PM, so that I can inquire at my contract from our local SC? CH04 High Amperage Charger & BTX5 Battery are insignificant, BTX5 is the regular...
