    FSD Transfer Question

Which inventory model would you go for if you find yourself in this situation?
  2. O

    FSD Transfer Question

I would not do a purchase with FSD transfer on a custom Highland order right now. Too many delays on the current deliveries and we are too close to end of quarter to take the risk and lose the deposit.

High Mileage (previous rental) Used Model 3

That seems like a lot of money for such a high mileage vehicle. I have a 2019 M3 LR RWD with 28,000 miles on it and Tesla quoted me $20K as a trade in. Carmax and Carvana were $22K. I could probably private sale it for $24K.

Model 3 Highland lease price without 7500 tax credit?

When you lease an EV you do not need to qualify for the tax credit like you do with a purchase. There are no income caps of any kind. The $7,500 credit goes to the lessor (Tesla) and they are supposed to theoretically pass on the savings to you through lower lease payments. All Highland Model...

Strongly considering a lease vs buy (MYP). Pros/Cons?

My experience is people who lease fall into one of three categories: 1) Business owners who can write of the entire lease amount against their income. If they are high earners this can save them as much as 50% of the cost of the lease on their taxes. 2) People who can afford it and just want...

Strongly considering a lease vs buy (MYP). Pros/Cons?

What is the reason you want to lease vs buy the car? It helps to know details, otherwise you will just get a bunch of random responses. If you own your own business and can write off the entire lease amount as an expense it’s much more financially attractive than if you can’t.

Michelin Pilot Sport 4s vs Hankook Ion EvoAS

18”. They included the certificates in that price too for replacement coverage if the tire is damaged beyond repair. So far I’m loving the new tires. They are so much better than the OEMs. Costco has the same tires for about $157 more but I don’t use Costco any more because they take too...

    Delay inventory order delivery

You can ask them but I would be careful if you have a car with a greater discount than what is currently being offered. There have been a few posts recently about people losing their VIN and then being reassigned a new VIN for the exact same configuration but at a higher price.

Michelin Pilot Sport 4s vs Hankook Ion EvoAS

I decided to go with the Pilot Sport 4S tires from Discount Tire. Final price was $962 after tax and installation. I had a 4pm appointment and drove off with my new tires at 4:26pm. Pretty amazing. I’ve only gone five miles on them but so far so good.

Michelin Pilot Sport 4s vs Hankook Ion EvoAS

I’ve tried five different shops and nobody has the summer version. The AS version is the only one they carry. Doesn’t seem like it’s very popular around So Cal.
  11. O

Michelin Pilot Sport 4s vs Hankook Ion EvoAS

I don’t know much about them. Discount Tire only shows the AS version. Are they better than the PS4S?

What’s going on with MY Performance inventory?

I see plenty of MYP inventory models showing available for immediate delivery. Not sure if the website just hasn’t been updated or what’s going on.

What’s going on with MY Performance inventory?

Interesting. I haven’t heard this. It must be very new information.

Michelin Pilot Sport 4s vs Hankook Ion EvoAS

I have a set of Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires on order from Discount Tire for installation on Monday. It’s my first tire change since buying my 2019 M3 LR RWD which currently has 28,000 miles on it. Final OTD price after tax is $962. I asked them to match the Costco price but somehow they...

MY 2024 Refresh - Project Juniper?

That is exactly how I interpreted it. They would not specify North America if there were no refresh coming anywhere. So this pretty much confirms a refresh in China for Q3 or Q4 and North America for Q1.

Help me choose: M3P inventory vs. Highland?

FSD has the worst ROI of any option when it comes to resale. Carvana offered me an additional $200 for a vehicle with FSD over the same vehicle without it. Even on private sale you would be lucky to get an extra $2K for it.

    2024 Ys 10% off already

All inventory vehicles are eligible for FSD transfer.
  19. O

    2024 Ys 10% off already

Up until 2 days ago the 2023 and 2024 model were selling for the exact same price. I would wait. I think they will have another price drop before end of quarter.
  20. O

    2024 Ys 10% off already

The price of a 2024 AWD MY increased over the weekend from $44,090 to $45,560. I would hold off at this point until we get closer to end of quarter before buying. FSD transfer is nice if applicable but I think incentives still have a way to go as we get closer.

Tesla launches Model 3 Highland refresh in North America - No Performance model listed as of 01.10.2024

I’m just wondering how long they will let you delay delivery once they match you to a VIN. My advisor told me it’s a very short window.
  22. O

What’s going on with MY Performance inventory?

Tesla just added 69 demo MYP models to their US inventory for sale. Any guess as to why they are getting rid of so many demo models all of a sudden? This morning there were no Performance models for sale anywhere in the US.
  23. O

What’s going on with MY Performance inventory?

I just noticed that you can’t even select Performance under Model Y inventory. It no longer shows as an option. But it appears you can still custom order one.

Tesla launches Model 3 Highland refresh in North America - No Performance model listed as of 01.10.2024

Why make a reservation now if you don’t want the car until June? They are showing deliveries starting next month.
  25. O

What’s going on with MY Performance inventory?

I’ve been tracking inventory of LR MY vehicles for about a month now. There are plenty of LR AWD MY’s in stock but Tesla-info.com shows only one MY Performance in the entire country. Are they still making them? Any guess as to why there is such a shortage? There were a few in stock right...

Tesla launches Model 3 Highland refresh in North America - No Performance model listed as of 01.10.2024

I test drove a Highland Red RWD Model 3 in Costa Mesa, CA today. It took a few minutes to get used to the turn signal buttons but it was fine. The interior changes are a nice touch. The car did seem a little quieter. The blind spot detection in the speakers is a nice addition. The ventilated...

Tesla launches Model 3 Highland refresh in North America - No Performance model listed as of 01.10.2024

It’s location dependent but my advisor said next week for Newport Beach, CA. Currently Burbank and Mission Viejo have Highland models for test drives.
  28. O

MY 2024 Refresh - Project Juniper?

They achieve economies of scale by sharing 75% of the parts between the 3 and Y so with Highland now out they are motivated to refresh the Y to continue as much part sharing as possible.
  29. O

Did I mess up? No more inventory / discounts for MYP?

I’m only showing four left in the entire country according to tesla-info.com.

Help me choose: M3P inventory vs. Highland?

If you were comparing a LR HIghland to the M3P it might be a closer call. But given that you are comparing the SR Highland, I’d go for the M3P easily.

Tax credit 2024 [The tax credit discussion thread]

Yes, use her name and SSN number as primary on the purchase agreement. Tesla will file the credit using her SSN so as long as her AGI does not exceed the cap you’re good. As for the loan, if both names are on it you are both responsible and both of your credit profiles will show the loan and...

Tax credit 2024 [The tax credit discussion thread]

I know there is a way to do this but it could get tricky. You have to tell Tesla who the buyer is that is claiming the credit. There is the title but also the purchase agreement. I would talk to a tax advisor to make sure it works out for you but I think her name needs to be the primary name...

Tesla launches Model 3 Highland refresh in North America - No Performance model listed as of 01.10.2024

They have a Highland Model 3 in Newport Beach so I had a chance to sit in one and take a close look at it. It’s very nice. Not wildly different looking than the current model but enough subtle changes to make it a very nice upgrade. But the lack of available tax credit for purchases makes it...

Tax credit 2024 [The tax credit discussion thread]

So I went to the Newport Beach store and test drove both the LR and Performance MY today. They confirmed the tax credit was now immediately available. However, by the time I finished my test drive, all the discounted Performance models were sold out. And that’s the one I really want. I can...

Tax credit 2024 [The tax credit discussion thread]

OK, much appreciated. It seems a little odd that you have to pay a non-refundable deposit with no mention that the tax credit is available. But I guess that’s just how they do it.
  36. O

Tax credit 2024 [The tax credit discussion thread]

Did you have to pay the $250 non-refundable order fee before you saw this option? I’m still not seeing anything other than asking for $250. I’m doing a cash purchase with trade in if it makes a difference.
  37. O

Tax credit 2024 [The tax credit discussion thread]

That’s great! I’m going to try it myself now.
  38. O

Tax credit 2024 [The tax credit discussion thread]

Understood. I’m just not seeing that option when I try to order one.
  39. O

Tax credit 2024 [The tax credit discussion thread]

What does that mean? Did they deduct it from the purchase price? Was this for a custom order or inventory model with a discount?

    Buying a demo MYP?

In So Cal I can buy silver/black for $44,060, red/black for $44,360, silver/white for $44,980, or blue/white for $45,890. All available for immediate delivery.

New 2023 Model Y RWD back in inventory (not eligible for tax credit - 01.08.3034)

It is a great price. But the LR AWD for $44K is also a great price. So it just depends on how you plan to use it.
  42. O

New 2023 Model Y RWD back in inventory (not eligible for tax credit - 01.08.3034)

True but I’m not sure how many people who exceed the income cap want the cheapest version you can buy.

MY 2024 Refresh - Project Juniper?

A Juniper LR AWD with the tax credit is very tempting. But prices are so low on the current gen Model Y’s that it’s hard to know whether to wait for Juniper or grab a current MY before prices go back up. I have a 2019 M3 LR RWD now. In the past I’ve been quoted $19K trade in but this week they...

New 2023 Model Y RWD back in inventory (not eligible for tax credit - 01.08.3034)

I can buy an AWD model for $44K and still get the tax credit so this doesn’t seem like a very good deal.

Tesla launches Model 3 Highland refresh in North America - No Performance model listed as of 01.10.2024

The Model Y and X still qualify and the tax credit was renewed in 2024 with the added incentive of a point of sale rebate to enhance the benefit of the credit. So I don’t think the issue is whether stimulus is needed. It comes down to where the materials are sourced.
  46. O

MY 2024 Refresh - Project Juniper?

Any speculation on whether the refreshed Model Y is likely to qualify for the current tax credit?
  47. O

Tesla launches Model 3 Highland refresh in North America - No Performance model listed as of 01.10.2024

Totally speculative question, but is there any chance the Highland Model 3 might be eligible for the tax credit in the future? I’m assuming they would need to change the battery pack for it to qualify but if sales slow down it seems like they might be open to making the change to stimulate sales.

    Buying a demo MYP?

I’m in Southern Cal. They just dropped the price of a base model LR AWD (Silver/black) to $44K.
  49. O

    Buying a demo MYP?

Is it really a $5,400 discount? Most of the inventory Model Y’s in my area have about the same discount for new models.

Tesla launches Model 3 Highland refresh in North America - No Performance model listed as of 01.10.2024

The first gen M3P is currently $45,890 for inventory in So Cal, less the $7,500 credit. Incredible deal if you don’t mind the first gen model.
