Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

just went and saw the new Model 3. The interior feels like an Audi, but cleaner. It really is pretty incredible. If only there was a way to let the car buying public know what you could get for $329 / month.

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

Only if Elon had access to a large media platform to teach the public about the benefits of a Tesla, how incredible the Cybertruck is and why the Model Y is the best mass market car in the world. An investor can dream.

Here is a great review of the new Model 3 by MKB If only Tesla would let the world know how good it is. My 3 is fine (2018 w/ 85k miles) but I think its going to the kids as soon as Tesla brings these changes to the Y

The S, X, 3 and Y all led their vehicle class because of the leap they all delivered. If the CT wasn't going to be a top seller in its class why prioritize its development? Right now it seems more like the X. A technological tour de force but with an idiosyncratic design that significantly...

It's really nice to have my Model 3 take 80%+ of my commute on a daily basis. Way more than adaptive cruise control + lane keeping. But unlikely to be a must have for very many at the current price.

I thought this was a good call as they went through Gen3 vehicle, cost reductions, awareness campaigns, FSD licensing, compute power (training and fleet) and energy. Looking forward these all seem to be high probability events with a positive impact on financials. Of course the downside is...

And so far the Cybertruck is looking like the Model X - a next gen, technically superior product with a limited audience and financial impact.

I’m not sure we will see Gen3 announcement until the end of the year. Given BYD / Chinese capabilities there will likely be a Gen3 clone on the market within 12 months from announcement. Tesla needs to be much closer to production before laying out the road for the competition.

I'd like to see a refreshed Model Y out by mid year. That should drive up interest and demand (and profits) at the current prices. Wildcard for me is how much more efficient manufacturing the Highland Model 3 is.

Time to pull all the batteries from the S or X and move to Model Y. I doubt many S or X buyers qualify for the tax credit anyways based on the income limitations.

How did Elon get my knickers in a twist today?

wiper algo is absolutely atrocious. my friend's 20yr old BMW 3-series automatic wipers outperforms Tesla's in every way except for frustration.

Yes I agree that SS has lots of benefits. There was some commentary from Franz that they were able to redesign the body to take advantage of the SS exterior, but overall I'm still not seeing any evidence of weight savings. Curb weight of the cybertruck AWD is ~6600 lbs vs. ~5000lbs for an F150...

I like the cybertruck & leaning towards getting one as a 4 passenger truck would be pretty useful for me. As an investor I really don't see that stainless was worth the added manufacturing weight, cost and ramp issues. It isn't clear to me of how much is gained by having the exterior shell...

I am looking forward to all the reviews from the folks who had access to the Cybertruck before the release. Looks like it can eat an F-150 raptor for a light snack. Will be interesting to see the Rivian comparisons as well.

My take is that Tesla is approaching the top of the demand curves for the Y and 3 (sans advertising- which Elon basically doesn’t believe in). I ask because if this was a pre-planned transition it would have been easy enough to either introduce him or give him a small role to discuss rev rec or something. So your argument is that the monthly cost of a Model Y increased 2.4% absolute over the last 39 months and that people are so on edge financially that this is the limit? So we should be expecting the 1.8m cars this year to come it an 18% margin? Or even lower?
