    Hertz rental PIREP (pilot report!)

I treat the card as the emergency backup. I am Fob person, since I don't always have my phone with me (yes, I an older!!). So bought fobs for our Teslas. But I still carry the card, just in case.

    Supercharger Full

That is true here also. But I find the Urban ones work out fine. The two places there are Urban chargers by me at Outlet Mall and a Home Depot. In eother place I usually spend 20-30 minutes and just use the charger to top off.

Supercharger - Dublin, CA - 7120 Dublin Blvd. (Dublin Crossroads/7-11, permit found, 12 stalls)

Wow. You can walk from this location to the Superchargers at the Dublin Service Center and at the donut place past Target. The density of chargers in this area is amazing.

It will definitely be more comfortable. Also, things are a little more spread out so there more space between people.

Why Does My Model X get so many Flat Tires?

Interesting thought, but flats in multiple locations are mentioned.

    Trade in 2020 or keep.......

Not just you. I was very concerned about the stalks. Concerned to the point of cancelling my replacement X order and switching to a Y. But, after looking very hard at the yoke and lack of stalks I decided could live with them. And they have been fine. I don't have any real issues even in...

Door Seal Wind Noise Kit for Model X - anybody try?

For squeaks on the door you can try something like Gummi Pflege on the seals. The FWDs and the to a lesser degree the front doors can move a bit and make rubbing/squeaking noise. I do this every couple of months.

Why Does My Model X get so many Flat Tires?

Xs are also a bit unforgiving when it comes to potholes. The weigh a lot so if you hit a pothole, curb, etc. they hit with a lot of force. I have had two flats on my 2 Model Xs (40K miles in Xs). One was caused by cut from a builder's tool in a neighborhood under construction. It looked like...

    Model X lease?

Tesla can make a lot of money selling used cars if their acquisition costs are controlled. And as a Tesla shareholder they need to make more money.
  11. J

    Model X lease?

For me the idea of a lease is to give the car back! With the lease you have much less concern about the car's residual value from the beginning. It is up to the lease company to make the residuals work for them if Tesla drops prices. My only concern is the monthly lease payment.

What income to afford a Plaid?

I worry when someone asks this. The best thing to do, especially if younger is invest your money. Well invested money is an appreciating asset. Cars are almost always a depreciating asset.

Shopping center stations are slower because they are older AND because the center wants people to shop longer.

Will Tesla Buildup Superchargers to Accommodate Anticipated Demand from Ford, GM, Rivian, and whoever else, Adopting NACS circa 2024/2025?

It looks like Walmart is commited to putting chargers at their stores. But it might not be Superchargers. Leading the Charge: Walmart Announces Plan To Expand Electric Vehicle Charging Network

Will Tesla Buildup Superchargers to Accommodate Anticipated Demand from Ford, GM, Rivian, and whoever else, Adopting NACS circa 2024/2025?

    Deliveries of $80k X?

Not having to notify the customer of a repair is the point. At least by seeing the damage the customer can make an informed decide on whether to walk and re-order. Rather than thinking the vehicle came in undamaged and then feeling that was the NOT true later on, as we were with our BMWs.

    Deliveries of $80k X?

Cars get damaged in transit by weather, road hazards, etc. The various state Governments allows car dealers to make repair without notifying new car customers. The amount of repaired damage allowed varies and cannot affect future warranty coverage or safety of the vehicle. Here is an old...

Powerwall 2 + UPS Connundrum - and solution

I was told it was told it was hold over for older systems that did not shutdown at lower Hz. When I called to change mine, they asked questions about all the equipment I had and in 3-4 weeks changed the frequence rise to 62.5 Hz when PWs are full.

Tesla X 2018 Heater blows warm air only in rear seats

Thanks. That is great information. I haven't had a heat pump for 30 years and I remember back then they sort of quit at 30-40F and we had to switch to the electrical resistive "emergency" heater in our house.
  23. J

Tesla X 2018 Heater blows warm air only in rear seats

Thanks. We do get heat very quickly (20-30 secs @ 40F OAT) with the 2023 3 and 2022 X so perhaps those electric heaters are there.

    A new potential buyer

The FWDs can have issues because of the complex mechanism, but I have had 2 Xs and never had issues except slight misalignments of the FWDs. This misalignment in no way effected the operations of the door but does look a bit cheap for suck an expensive car. Regarding the different wheel size...

Will Tesla Buildup Superchargers to Accommodate Anticipated Demand from Ford, GM, Rivian, and whoever else, Adopting NACS circa 2024/2025?

I would argue that we Tesla is the minimum standard all chargers should meet, and the others are sub-standard.

    Supercharger - Fresno, CA - 7502 N. Blackstone Ave. (LIVE 21 Feb 2024, 12 V3 stalls)

I am with Bruce on the transformer being the hold up. And then PG&E has to connect it up which can take a few days. I assume none of this final activity happens until all inspections and permits are signed off.

    Changing from a Y to X, regrets?

I switch from our 3 to our X occasionally. I really notice the drive side display and bigger center screen. Also, the Air suspension in the X gives a nicer ride than the Ys I have driven. However, a new 3 or Y will have less rattles and may have less wind noise. I believe the X chassis has...

Supercharger - Pleasanton, CA - Hopyard Rd (under construction Dec 2023, 24 V3 stalls)

Looks like a lot of progress. As @turtlebud said, the fences are gone. I was there earlier in the day and got some images. It looks like the cabinets are in, but of course, no transformers, stands, or wiring yet. Overall, they are making pretty quick progress on the site. And the 24 new...

How do I check work done under warranty

If you can get the car's service paperwork from the owner, it shows how much they paid and whether any of it was warranty work.

    creaking noise from LR wheel

During the 1st year they usual fix it for free. But after that squeaks and rattle are usually fixed as goodwill items. I have similar experience with BMW and Lexus when something rattled, or a vibration developed in the second or beyond years of ownership. Actually, BMW was like "those are...

Looks like the chassis is twisted. The FWD appears latched in the front and not in the rear.

Short life with my Tesla MX

Teslas and EVs in general seem to get totaled more often. This X is done. And having lived in Eastern California (Ridgecrest) for a while, I know how often this sort of thing happens. I still remember how everyone talked in terms of time (1 hour, 2 hours away) instead of distance since it was...

Stalk or no stalk argument settled

I was almost going to take my 2022 X back when it came with a Yoke and no stalks. But, decided to give it a try. Took me about a week to adjust. The X driver side display it is much better with the yoke. Can't wait to try steer by wire and variable ratio steering!

Thoughts on buying a used Model 3 from Hertz?

I just rented an Y from Hertz. It was one of the quietest Teslas I have ever driven. It did have a few scraps on the rear bumper from luggage, but other than that looked new. Before we turned it in, I checked the mileage. 45,000 miles. It was as quiet as our 4K mile 2022 Model 3 and much...

Prediction: Model X price will be reduced to $78K in January 2024

Wow. You must have bought right at the peak. For our first house they want 12-13% but where able to get 11% or so by moving some money into the bank.

New EPA calculated range for 2024. LR is now 335 miles

The number of people towing will increase as the Cybertruck becomes more common. And Tesla is opening up Superchargers to other companies that sell a lot of EV trucks. Some fraction of these users will be pulling a trailer. The expansion of Superchargers is golden opportunity to increase brand...

Will Tesla Buildup Superchargers to Accommodate Anticipated Demand from Ford, GM, Rivian, and whoever else, Adopting NACS circa 2024/2025?

Wow. Which county? By me they are building Superchargers fast. A small shopping center down the hill in the East Bay is getting a 24-stall installation.

New EPA calculated range for 2024. LR is now 335 miles

Definitely not there on my 22 X. I don't think I every used them on 2017 X. When I drive an ICE car I have to do a quick retraining to remember to press the brake pedal coming up to a stop.

Battery Drain on Model X overnight suddenly

It could be the software update turned on something or added a new feature that is drawing power. Mine loses about 1-2% per night sitting in my garage with sentry mode off.

Prediction: Model X price will be reduced to $78K in January 2024

At least rates are moving the right direction. We paid almost 12% on our first house. We refinanced twice before we moved and got down to 7% or so.
