I have seen what their high fidelity park assist does, and it is not even close to what a good 360 camera can do. Auto park is cool. But I’ll probably never need it. 360 however is a game changer and takes a lot of stress out if you’re driving a bigger car. Again, just my personal opinion.
Please do not take this the wrong way as I am just here for a healthy / fun debate. Has the bar now come down to "not horrible" for Tesla? Are they resting on their laurels? Or are they only focusing on FSD and have given up on other more important features for a day-to-day driver (e.g., I could...
I am the minority here clearly but you folks like this rendering? How is this superior to a high resolution “real” 360 image assisted with parking sensors?
While 360 is also susceptible to image deterioration when cameras are covered but at least then the sensors take over and help with the...
Yes. Totally. However, a front bumper camera is a far more justified FOMO behavior than cooled seats or lighting I would think, as it is directly related to safety and automated driving enhancements, potentially - one of the major reasons to get an EV that is a Tesla besides native charging...
Well, the very reason I didn’t go with a Tesla two years ago when time came to upgrade my 3 was the removal of USS. Lens is a lens. Sensor is a sensor. Class action suits likely are not happening unfortunately so I won’t hold my breath. Wishful thinking, sure.
Even if they don’t add the sensors...
Given the (baseless) rumor around Model X getting a front bumper camera (a pretty significant update in my book as it gets us many steps closer to a true 360 view with practically no area left in the dark all around the car), would you wait to buy a Model X for this rumor to play out or not...
Respectfully, you (or almost everyone here!) likely have no idea what he’s like. Yes, you have formed an “opinion” of him which you’re entitled to. And I’ll also say that the reason you’re able to form such an opinion is that he’s talked about a lot on social media and has a social media...
Honestly, having driven performance Audis and BMWs, I find Tesla ownership a lot more economical lol.
That said, I would agree with almost everything OP said.
My gripe is the absent sensors / radar parts which render any features such as rear cross traffic alert impossible to implement...
The front bumper camera (on the outside of the car) is incredibly useful especially if a true 360 view camera (top view) isn't available. Adding that camera may actually make the 360 view possible. CyberTruck has this camera. I would be several steps closer to ordering a Tesla the moment they...
Drove it for about 2-3 hours around town and on the highway and plenty of parts in town.
While it has improved quite a bit, I feel like for me, its novelty would wear off within a few days and I’d be back to driving my own car by myself because “it is just easier that way”.
However, with the...
Slightly different team but I hope it’s okay. We had a Tesla (loved it for the most part and didn’t love it for a few key things) and now we have another EV strictly for local driving. We do no road trips in it - we have a hybrid SUV for that as we don’t think very highly of EVs when it comes to...
All newer Teslas I meant. Sorry. I know my 2019 Model 3 had it. I am actually not sure if blind spot repeater views are available in “any” vertical screen Tesla. But yes, that’s also a major factor for not going for vertical screen cars I’d think, for some.
Please know that I’m asking out of sheer curiosity.
Turn signals already show the side repeater cameras (on the center screen). The blind spot collision detection already exists and it also can beep and bring you back in your own lane if you’re about to hit someone in your blind spot. I know...
Late 2022 builds and later have the following things that 2019-2021 models do not. And it’s not even worth discussing 2018 and older model X’s anymore.
1. Heat pump
2. Horizontal screen
3. Ryzen CPU
4. Phone key support
5. HW4 (2023 and later)
6. Ventilated seats (I think 2023 and later)
7. One...
Just way too many things upgraded in 2022 and later models for me to ignore them. I decided to just stay put and let the 2023 model X get to a more affordable price with low miles used
We are looking for a big SUV for the tall household that we are. I recently came across a Model X (I had never driven one before). It is owned by a private party. It is a 2020 model and found it to be very spacious, sort of exactly what we are looking for. I would have ideally liked it to be a 6...
I see. Thank you for your response!
How is the car working out for you, overall, with no sensors, no radar, no RCTA, and no mirror BSMS? I’m genuinely curious. Also curious how many times you actually used the summon feature.
Good answer. And it answers my question almost entirely. Except, it’s not “my” Ford. My wife likes it so much that she wants me nowhere near it :)
Thank you.
BACKGROUND:
Fine people of this community, can you please help me make a decision? I owned a Model 3 for five years but sold it in the quest of getting a bigger (higher) vehicle as it was starting to give me back issues (6'4") and an addition to the family quickly made the Model 3 in need for...
Had a Model 3. Really wanted BCM RCTA in my next bigger car, and didn’t like the look and feel of Y. Been driving a Mach E GTPE and so far it’s been great and most certainly better than my 3 on many aspects. It’s a city car for me so the rather unreliable charging network thankfully doesn’t...
Thank you. Agreed that the car technically gets better with software. It has. But a few omissions really bother me because I so wanted a model X or a Y!! Lol.
P.S. Been here 5 years. My first experience with a weird user like the one above. I reported the user. Calling anyone (over a post)...
Honestly, the seat warmer etc. “one tap” functions are really better with touch.
Agree with everything you said above.
I sold my 3 six months ago (still very much follow Tesla), so I’m not sure if anything has changed since, but here are the only nitpicks I have with this whole “bring back...
As soon as you show me a TMC policy that says that non-fanboys aren’t welcome / Tesla critiques aren’t welcome to this Tesla forum, I’ll delete my account. If you can’t, I’ll continue posting, thank you very much. :)
Even though this is a 5 month old post - I honestly don’t get why people continue to give Tesla a pass for not having basic safety features included.
Most, if not all mid to high tier cars after 2020 now have almost all the collision avoidance systems that Tesla does. Most are also catching up...
I knew you could take a lighthearted and harmless jab just like I did when you called me a billionaire and I could not be any farther from that so I had to reply with a jab given you’re now asking around for money! LOL. Having welcome our first a year ago, I know how expensive it is, and kudos...
I heard that in the latest firmware, Model 3/Y now automatically apply brakes when an obstacle is detected when reversing? Is this true? Will this somewhat alleviate the absence of RCTA?
Update: after a few attempts, I reached a conclusion that this specific noise is coming from the speaker grille by the feet of the passenger. This was after me practically taping every loose cable inside that door panel.
I removed the door panel yet again, and observed that right where the...
When you say, “where the door panel clips onto the door itself”, you’re suggesting that I take out the door again, correct? Or you’re saying do this from outside? Just trying to understand.
The frequency generator through the speaker doesn’t produce the noise. It’s only the real vibrations of the vehicle on a uniformly rough road does. On perfectly smooth roads, car is whisper quiet.
It is probably the absence of proper life saving systems (Blind spot and Rear Cross Traffic) that I decided to forego my next car to be a Tesla. Traffic is crazy and reckless where I live, and Tesla does NOT have these two systems. What they have doesn’t qualify. I absolutely rely on manual...
Service Center apparently fails to reproduce it but it’s very apparent if they try an ounce harder to actually take a test drive. Two visits and they have refused to fix this issue.
I have opened the door panel, put sound absorbing material wherever I thought there may be a wire hitting the...
OP’s first explanation was so wrong (about the key fob) that I didn’t even need to read the rest. I did anyway and a sense of Tesla ownership entitlement was just smothered all over it.
I appreciate that this is not a Model 3 specific problem but given that this is a Model 3 forum, I tend to voice concerns and opinions (and praises) for Model 3. :)
Also, given the incessant touting that goes on about how much better the car and its safety features, I feel that physical...
