I’d rather be buck toothed than have braces

… but Tesla and BMW both have nice red colors.

Boeing 737 Max and Airbus Controls Discussion

“steer by wire”, where ratio is variable based on speed. Also likely non-limear response to steering angle. Similar to a sidestick in modern aircraft vs old “control wheel. Also steer by wire could have “envelope protection” where if driver mode is “standard” (not advanced) the vehicle would...

    Pandemic response, Oregon

Moderator note: The first ten posts in this thread were relocated from the Seaside, OR Supercharger thread. wow... just wow. I don’t want to get argumentative but this whole “pandemic” story stinks. Its disease being now used for pure evil IMO.

    Model S, Model T

I had the amazing opportunity to drive a 1927 (last year of production) Ford Model T! So many things are different about modern cars: throttle on the steering column, brake is hand operated, two gears, etc. But with a short drive it became clear that the Model T was truly the FIRST everyman's...

simple layout improvement to have more ‘touch’ friendly UI

would you please increase the spacing between the small icons on the bottom right of a post (e.g the ‘thumbs up’ etc icons)? Why - with touch devices like iPad they are so tightly packed I often touch a wrong icon with my finger. There is plenty of unused surroundng space so would not affct...

    Those three extra clicks...

The TM3 has a unique turn signal control (of course!). For those that don't know, you initiate a lane change with a single push on the stalk (not the full push which locks the turn signal on), then AP waits for the lane to be clear, makes the lane change, then turns off the signal. My gripe is...

AP2/EAP starting to show signs of super human abilities

I received 2017.44 firmware a week ago, just in time for a 1400 mile two-day drive from Phoenix AZ to Portland OR. I've been disappointed with AP2 performance (as many of us have) and the improvements I've seen in the past 11 months have been slow. OK, we've pretty much all covered that...

    AP2/EAP Lane lines wiggle

I can hardly believe there isn't a thread on this yet, but could not find one by search, so here goes! Informed speculation please: with AP2 in any active mode (TACC, Autosteer) the depiction of the road has wiggling/jittery/unstable depictions of lane boundaries. Why would this continue for...

How soon before SPWC for home use?

Thinking that with PowerWall in your garage you could have access to ~400VDC from the PowerWall. Wouldn't it be cool if Tesla offered a "super" power wall charger (hence SPWC) fed from the PowerWall and your solar panels. Sure you can use DC->AC->DC with HPWC but it should be 10-15% more...

Larger labels and traffic in maps: new with .8

In the recent firmware upgrades (maybe .8 or .10) I found a new to me feature: if you pinch the map a bit larger it now scales EVERYTHING: place labels, traffic, roadways etc. If you go too large the map will redraw and you will retain the new smaller scale but the font will be back to small...

poor WiFi = Sleeping Beauty's "poison apple"

I have marginal WiFi (from the house WAP) in my garage and have had intermittent ability to connected to MS from my iPhone. Finally I turned WiFi access off and even deleted the password configuration from my MS to force 3G connectivity when parked. Seemed to work OK but remote access takes a...

USB media fwd: 3rd times the charm

Seems like 5.8 has introduced a bug in the media player. (could have been in all 5.x versions; I went directly from 4.8 to 5.8). When playing an album from USB media it takes three presses of the FWD button to actually advance to the next song! Anybody else noticed this? It may also...

Anyone trade their Sig for a new loaner car?

Has anyone traded in their Signature model for a new loaner car? I'm curious what value Tesla would give the signature model in trade in on your "buy it if you like it" loaner car.

    Firmware 4.5

I've been running 4.3 since March. Reading about 4.4 from other owners I alternate between (a) wanting it and (b) happy to not have it! 4.3 has been quite reliable for me and it added the timed charging feature. Maybe I'll be lucky enough to skip 4.4 entirely and go right to 4.5 which (is...

Vancouver WA to/from Vancouver BC trip

I'm planning a trip from Vancouver WA to downtown Vancouver BC in a few months and looking for suggestions for a "mid point" charge. I have the 85kW and made it easily from Vancouver to Kirkland. I'm looking for an HPWC as I have the dual chargers. Anybody have any ideas other than asking...

what the %@$@ happened to Tesla's marketing?

First the "lease a Model-S for $500" (when its NOT a lease and we all know where the $500 comes from....), now its a FB marketing campaign: #WattsUp: The world is my charging station! Model S can plug into any outlet & recharge up to 62 miles of range/hour Your Questions Answered | Tesla Motors...

    interesting horn behavior?

Today I was driving about 30 mph in the right lane happily listing to Slacker when the car beside me in the left lane (almost parallel) suddenly began turning into my lane. There was traffic behind both of us so a panic stop would probably resulted in a rear end collision. Anyhow I mashed HARD...

    Learning to love "Rated" miles

Just completed a 350 mile weekend round trip from Portland to central Oregon (Bend). Route is along US26 up the side of Mount Hood (lots of elevation to climb then descend). Weather was clear and nice but cold (high of 40°, low of 21° I would say average was 35°). Two people and weekend bags...

    New (4.0 sw) Accelerator Response

I'm a happy noobie (just driving mine since yesterday) and I've only driven the 4.0 software, but I must say that the Accelerator pedal response is very predictable, smooth and intuitive. The combination of Regen and throttle behavior is so pleasant to drive. Whatever they did, I like it

    Tesla is communicating better.

Got an email update from Matt @ Tesla yesterday.... and it was unsolicited! Nice! I did in fact ask him some questions about my delivery window which he replied to an hour or so later. Wow, there is actually proactive communication happening. Well done Tesla. I think (hope) that...
