    Supercharger - Harker Heights, TX

Since Temple has chargers just 20 miles away, it would seem that Lampasas would be a better place for chargers. It is on 190 still but is about 60 miles from temple it is also on 281 which leads south to Johnson City or north to Hamilton City. It is also on 183 leading north west to Brownwood...

    Supercharger - Harker Heights, TX

As far as I can tell there are less than 100 teslas in the Killeen area which includes Copperas Cove and Harker Heights. They are still a fairly rare sight around here. I doubt many on base have one since they can not install home chargers there. The average household income around here is...

    Supercharger - Harker Heights, TX

This one makes no sense. I live about 14 miles away. The Temple charger is about 25 miles away. While there are Teslas here, I do not think anyone around here will use it and there is not traffic passing through for it to be viable, because not many folks travel through Lampasas to get go...

FSD 11.3.6 avoids accident during commute

It might have worked for him but I had multiple disengagements on my last trip. The two worst were the car pulling in behind a car that was already breaking to make a right hand turn. I had to slam on the brakes. Second while on a two lane road a car was passing me on the left. The car...

    Autonomous Car Progress

But it still broke the law and if someone sees the car trying to pull this stunt all they have to do is proceed to the outside lane before completing the turn. Waymo would be at fault

    Autonomous Car Progress

I just got the 2023.12.10 today and took it out for a spin. My impressions: Changing lanes to take off ramp. On a left turn the car made the shift from the right lane to the middle lane and then sat there even though the left was empty. It waited until someone pulled up along side and then...

Model y autopilot does not recognize cars when i use blinkers

I have traded in my model 3 for a model y. Probably one of the bigger mistakes I have made. When I turn on the blinker with a car next to me the screen does not recognize the fact and warn me. Following is an email exchange about it. Me: when I turn my blinkers on while traveling if i want...

    Wiki FSD Beta release history

I know I will receive flak for this but apparently the Fsd beta program has some big hiccups. The last wide spread release was Feb. 18 and there has not been a wide spread release in the last 38 days. From what I have been able to learn the last two updates are going to employees and 'special'...

    Phantom Braking

Phantom breaking is real. If you want proof, try driving fm2657 in central Texas. It is an approx. 20 miles road. It is curvy but the PD happens mostly on dry straight sections with no on coming traffic on a clear day. It happens about 30 times on that road every time I try to use FSD or...

    2021.36.x

Just got the latest 36.x.3 after Sunday's fiasco. We drove about 30 miles each way on fsd. I am really impressed. Some phantom breaking on the highway and a phantom light signal but for the most part it was nice. It took the proper exit, changed lanes correctly, stopped at a light and...

Erroneous FCW alerts w/ FSD Beta 10.3?

This has got to be the worst software update ever written. Both fsd and acc are both useless now. The alarm goes off for everything and nothing. It does not hold for more than 5 seconds whether anything is around me or not. Going down a flat straight freeway, nobody within a quarter mile...

Fix for Broken FSD Beta 10.3

I just test drove 36.25.2. It has got to be the worst software update ever. Started in town, no body within 200 feet going 16 mph. The alarm went off in less than two seconds. No problem I think. I take it on the freeway. If the car goes up over an underpass it goes off. If I am going...

    Software update

I have received 2 that is two updates this year. I keep reading about all the new features but my lowly 2019 M3DM apparently does not qualify. It is getting really frustrating. And as for the Fsd beta, I am beginning to think it is an advertising ploy. Surely there is some part of it that...

Tesla has allegedly activated a selfie cam Driver Monitoring System

My question is what about people like me. I have droopy eyes and my left eye wanders really bad. They will not do surgery. So, if the car is keeping track of my eyes will it be able to take that into account?

Tesla.com - "Transitioning to Tesla Vision"

A few points. Folks will do what they always do. They will complain, whine, bolster and threaten. Then, they will accept it. It has happened millions of times. Remember seatbelts? Tesla knows that in just a few weeks this will all settle down and people who were going to buy, will buy...

Tesla.com - "Transitioning to Tesla Vision"

It 'sounds' good but try living in the country. We live 25 miles from the nearest 'city' of 100k people. We drive Texas freeways every day. For those you who do not understand that is a two lane ( one lane each way) that have speed limits of 75 mph. We find fallen branches, dead and live...

Tesla.com - "Transitioning to Tesla Vision"

Tesla vision will only work in optimal weather conditions. Imagine driving down Hwy 5, coming around a corner and hitting Tully fog. Or in the Midwest a sudden thunder storm. I could not even see 2 feet in front of the car at times. Everything was fine then wam, i could not see. the car...

Update enables cabin camera for driver monitoring....I guess excluding models S & X?

One can not have level 3 driving assistance if this car can not see in fog, snow, rain or head on bright sun light. For example, you are driving down highway 5 in Calif. And you come around a corner and suddenly hit heavy Tully fog. No place to pull over. What does the car do, suddenly stop...

Decision to keep or not to keep my 2013 Model S

The smell and feel of a new car is wonderful but if you want bang for the buck drive your car until the Big ticket items start to roll in. Changing window motors or even the touch screen is financially effective but changing out the battery or computer maybe not so. I have fixed up my old cars...

    Autonomous Car Progress

While I have fsd, I believe it will never work fully where I live. First, I live more or less in the country where we have a lot of dead animals of various sizes on the road. Second, I am always seeing rocks and boards on the road. The car does not see either the animals or debris. Third...

    New, 2020.40.3

Received it today. Lots of new features. We took it out for a spin right after the install completed. It is a little smoother now at lights. The problem with reading speed limit signs is still there. It sees some and misses others, but that is expected. The one problem that was not fixed...

    2020.36.11 autopilot bug?

I made the mistake of complaining to tesla support about how my m3lrdm-3 when it saw a speed sign it would set the max speed to 5mph over, every time. Well now I do not have to worry about it. The car will show the speed sign change but it will not change the max speed on the screen. And on...

    2020.36.10 has some real problems

Thank you for the suggestion of setting the speed limit to 0 relative, but I normally set it to +3. I did set it to +0 relative and it still went 5 mph over the sin.

    2020.36.10 has some real problems

I live in a rural area which may cause part of the problem.. The problem, the car does not see some speed signs and seems to post an arbitrary speed limit. Then later will post the speed limit, I think, according to the map software which is wrong a lot here. Traveling down FM116, here the...

    New .36 is interesting

I do have a question about when the car reads a speed limit sign. Why does the speed get set to 5 mph over the speed limit? I have my autopilot set to only 2 mph above the speed limit but when it reads a sign it sets the speed to 5mph over. Does anyone know how to set it for less. Even when...

    New .36 is interesting

When I first received it 2 days ago I was very disappointed. It did not do much of what it was supposed to do. But yesterday, it began to see speed limit signs and even slowed my M3 LRDM w/3 down once. Today it started dinging when a stop light turned green. I do not understand how these are...

I had to use my brakes while on autopilot

In reply to my not paying attention, I saw the van from over a quarter mile away and kept waiting for the car to "see" it also but it failed to do so and I was a good 50 feet plus when I stopped fully and the car could still not see the van. While this is not a common problem, the car has...

Driving my m3lrdm on fm 2657 in Texas Sunday when I came upon an Amazon delivery van that had just pulled out of a driveway and was blocking the road sideways. I kept waiting for me car to see the van but it did not. I had to hit my brakes hard. I saved the "tape" but do not know how to just...

    2020.24.6.1

One really different thing happened since we received the update. The map software now shows the correct speed limit for highway 190 passing through Killeen, Texas. Up until now the screen has shown the speed limit as 75 even though it has never been that high and has been 60 for over 2 years...

    2020.24.6.1

The side cameras are the biggest improvement to 2020.24.6.1 period. They now take the place of side mirrors. Vast improvement in driving enhancements. The only thing I wish is that I could turn off the rear camera and just have the sides when driving. But still huge improvement.

    2020.20.12 Release Notes?

    Free charging June 30.

When I bought my 3lrdm I got 5,000 free miles for some reason. Tesla has now told us what we do not use by June 30, we lose. In a little over a year I have used only about 1,000 miles worth out the 19,000 miles I have driven it. When traveling we stay at hotels that offer destination...

    2020.12.1 Hitting Now

I am not the only one who has seen a degradation from .12 to .12.1 when to comes to lane splits and convergence. .12 was much better, being able to handle both while .12.1 is not as sure of itself.

    2020.12.1 Hitting Now

    12.1 lane split backward step

Lane split and convergence was vastly improved in .12 but the car is less sure of itself in 12.1going so far as to show the dreaded red BRAKE. Oh well, two steps forward one step back.

I received the new update a few days ago and decided to test out the new firware on our Texas freeway fm116. A normally two lane road with a 75 mph limit and several passing lanes. The test was done at 65 mph on a clear day and dry road. I test at two spots along the road and the car has a...

    2020.4.10 anybody?

It appears 2020.4.10 is a dud. According to Teslafi, it appears that some 40.10 are reverting back to 40.1. As I always say, 2 steps forward and one step backwards still gets you there.

Opinion: FSD, Why you should not buy it.

For me, I paid the $6k when I bought and do not regret it. I am young (75) and I find that I really like being able to drive for hours only using my blinkers. And that is only because I do not trust lane change. Driving in commute is a breeze except to watch for folks jumping my lane. I do...
