2012 Model S P85 Battery Replacement Receipt - sharing is caring

using the Tesla site and my VIN it looks like the trade in is $20k. I wonder if they know it needs the new battery or if that is actually not even factoring that in

Original owners of 2012/2013 Model S w/ 85 kWh pack: Has your main pack been replaced?

I clicked yes on the poll, because that is what has been recommended by Tesla service in Superior, CO due to failed contactor. I have not pulled the trigger but am debating between $15-20k replacement battery as advised or just trading in my 2012 Sig Red S that is 5 months past its 8 year warranty.

2012 Model S P85 Battery Replacement Receipt - sharing is caring

I appreciate all the helpful comments and insights. I’ll keep y’all posted on what we decide. Kind of sad that I used to spend so much time on these forums from 2010-2015 or so, excited for each new teased release and each new theory about the next big features to come, only to come back to the...

2012 Model S P85 Battery Replacement Receipt - sharing is caring

So I doubted their diagnosis done remotely because the screen in the car says the 12 v battery is in need of replacement and doesn’t say anything about the high voltage battery directly. However it does say max power reduced and regenerative braking disabled which I guess in hindsight are high...

2012 Model S P85 Battery Replacement Receipt - sharing is caring

120 kw charging is slightly enticing but. It $7k extra enticing. 270 is what my 85kwh said new, and it settled somewhere around 255 recently (haven’t charged to 100% in a while tho, so not sure if it’s down to 250 or so)

2012 Model S P85 Battery Replacement Receipt - sharing is caring

I hate how they want me to sign the estimate when they’ve only remotely diagnosed it. I just don’t understand how a battery that was fine and charging to 250 miles suddenly has to be completely replaced. I’m just a knuckle dragging surgeon so I don’t know if they’ll be able to explain it in a...

2012 Model S P85 Battery Replacement Receipt - sharing is caring

I have about 60k miles on my 2012 Sig red 85kwh (#708) that I have now passed the 8yr extended service agreement as well. Last week I got a fault alert for the 12 v battery so I scheduled a service appointment. Two days ago it now is reducing max power and all regenerative braking. The service...

    Northern Colorado Locations?

I put in a suggestion to the supercharger team a couple of years ago to indicate the same. The specific problem is in winter coming from Cheyenne south on 25 then up 70 into the mountains will really eat through the miles due to winds, cold, and elevation change. The cross country trip that the...

    Firmware 7.0 - For Classic Model S

My post got moved to snippiness due to being too accusatory/ rudely phrased. Rather than revising it as suggested by our moderator, I will simply apologize for my tone and summarize by politely suggesting that those who do not care for v 7.0 (or any new feature) should feel fine just posting...

    Firmware 7.0 Beta Discussion

I don't think they really intend the little toy car to have a "purpose" as some of you are trying to attribute it. Showing the brake lights is just an Easter egg. The location of the car there is just so there is continuity between autopilot mode and manual. For classic cars we just get the same...

Motor Trend SUV of the Year Nomination, 2016 or 2017?

False. Motor trend car of the year announcement was in November 2012. I assume they call it 2013 because of the pre-existing convention of naming car models a year in advance by other manufacturers. Edit: as far as COTY testing, I admit I don't know when that is, but I wouldn't be...

So what happens when multiple X's park next to each other?

Yes probably. But again, who does that? Just don't. Try to park farther and also try to wait 30 seconds for the other car to finish unloading. We live in a society and need to coexist peacefully. After all, when you're in a Tesla, what's the rush to get out?

Tesla desperately needs to add Services Centers in Colorado, or move the Denver one

Tesla desperately needs to add Services Centers in Colorado, or move the Denver one

Yeah but what a pain for the owners from points north to drive down that dang diagonal highway. Boulder is not conveniently located and the real estate is not cheap. Maybe Longmont is a better suggestion?

Tesla desperately needs to add Services Centers in Colorado, or move the Denver one

I think tesla should look to add a service center in Fort Collins instead of Boulder. Better access for Wyoming, Nebraska, and Montana folks along the interstate. Boulder is a pain to get to. I may be biased, but I think it would legitimately be a good spot.

What car seat to use in the 2nd row, facing back?

I don't believe this is true. Latch is not safer than belt, just easier to get correct. A correctly installed belted car seat is just as good. Moreover, I believe the middle seat is safer in case of a side impact. I use a Britax seat base that stays in place and the seat itself can snap into...

    Tracking P85D delivery thread

    Tracking P85D delivery thread

So far nobody has actually presented a comparison of the P 85 and P85 D on the same wheel and tire set up. Perhaps either a P85+ and a D can be compared or possibly someone has an extra set of non staggered wheels to slap on their D to get an apples to apples data collection. Sounds like there...

Yeah unplugged and replugged everything including the 14-50 adapter. I even reset the circuit breaker to try. The new UMC they brought works perfectly and still gets the new yellow ring. I guess that's just some software update unrelated to my cord failure.

Getting the 60D versus the 85D

60 D could be the "greenest" option. That is, I believe the current RWD 60 is the most energy efficient on a Wh/ mi basis, and if the D improves that then you'll be using even less energy from the grid or your solar panels.
