I had similar damage from a rear end and had the rear bumper cover replaced at my non-body shop Tesla SC. The cost was $1060 and took about an hour, your labor rate may vary a bit. They had a rack of pre-painted bumper covers ready to install.

I did the same thing not my wife. Depending on your insurance deductible a new pre-painted bumper cover replacement at a Tesla service center runs about $1060. You could claim it on your insurance and pay the deductible no guessing on paint match it will be a new cover.

Update: Tesla certified shop quote for bumper cover repair came in at $1,028 and Tesla SC bumper cover replacement came in at $1,061. For $33 I'm having the bumper cover replaced by Tesla.

Normally on any other car I wouldn't have an issue with this but is the 3rd party estimator Tesla "certified"? Will they include sensor diagnostics (pre and post) like the Tesla shop? I guess I just have to wait and see what they come back with.

Update: Friday I got an estimate from a certified Tesla body shop for $1,100 and submitted it to my insurance co. They said since this body shop is not part of "their network" I had to submit pictures of the damage to a "third party estimator" for another quote.

The scratches are right over two of the sensors, so will use the excessive filler/paint interfering with sensors if I get push back form ins co. I'm still holding out for a replacement, fingers crossed that the certified shop comes back with a replace quote rather than repair.

Ouch, that's quite a bit more damage than mine. With a tear and that much distortion I can't imagine a body shop would try to repair the cover in your case. How long did you have to wait for parts?

The Minneapolis Tesla SC has a rack of pre-painted bumper covers, one in each color. Their estimate is under 2 hours to replace assuming no other damage.

I plan on keeping the car for a while and I'd rather get a new cover, rather than fixing it. I won't take a ding on insurance since my car was parked when it happened, confirmed with my insurance co.

I'm not sure this is related but my auto wipers worked pretty well until the 2019.4.2 update. Now the last two rainy day drives it's the opposite very slow response during medium to heavy rain and no response at all to light drizzle or "jet wash" from the car in front of me.
