Thoughts on the i4 M50 from a former M3P owner

Great review! Glad to hear it's what you're looking for. I would be giving BMW a much harder look if they had a 6 passenger EV. As it stands, I figure I'll drive my MXP until my son graduates in 3 years and then give it to my wife. Just in time for the 2027 Neue Classe M3 🤘

Prediction: Model X price will be reduced to $78K in January 2024

With all due respect, I saw you extolling the virtues of the X platform many times on this forum before you decided to cancel your order. I would think after owning 2 Xes you would see what they bring to the table over a Y. Value is a subjective thing. How do you value FWDs? Regardless of...

Is the 2023 Model X suspension just not refined?

Yep. It's week 44 of 2023 this week, so it should be imminent.

    Deliveries of $80k X?

(Deleted my post because it looks like MrKashima beat me to it) I did not know the others had it too. That might come in handy. Regardless, I think with the feature the buttons are fine for signals. That damned horn though 🤬
  5. Neon001

    Deliveries of $80k X?

Unpopular opinion, but I don't mind it. It's really only the horn button that bugs the hell out of me. I actually like the automatic canceling turn signal buttons over the stalks. PRND would be kind of nice on a stalk but it's used so infrequently I don't mind. Auto select is actually really...

    Deliveries of $80k X?

I haven't seen the numbers, but my guess for MXLR would be low-mid 11s (11.2-11.4) based on MSLR data points. MSLR can sometimes run very high 10s (10.9x), but it's more often in the 11.0-11.1 range or even a little higher. MSLR 3.1s 0-60 compares to MXLR 3.8 as a reference, but the weight...

For non-inventory Model X Plaid orders placed in September 2023, what is your estimated delivery date range?

FWIW, the start of my EDD window was 16 Oct when I got my VIN (on 15 Oct)

Prediction: Model X price will be reduced to $78K in January 2024

I think it's more likely people will delay ordering to get the rumored bumper cam and interior lighting than cancel over this change to a different car. Couple of reasons: 1. This change to 3 architecture does't affect the operation or capabilities of the s/x at all - they're still capable of...

    Deliveries of $80k X?

The doors do not open fully by themselves, no. What I meant in saying that is how I open them - pop the door, let the motor disengage, then open it fully myself. A lot of folks have commented about the lag time of that second step feeling significant. Imo, it's there, but it doesn't feel like...

    Deliveries of $80k X?

Agree. Very subjective choice in the things we value in a car. I prioritize performance and the infotainment over pure luxury and quality of materials. My neighbor is the opposite. He drives an etron and x5 45e (or whatever the hybrid is), and I have had Teslas for the last 5 years. We're both...

For non-inventory Model X Plaid orders placed in September 2023, what is your estimated delivery date range?

Maybe. My garage size looks identical to the photo other than the number of bays, so I'm not sure that would make a difference. My issue is with the garage door open, however, which is usually how I would load a car. The doors can open 100% and not hit anything even with the garage door open...

    Deliveries of $80k X?

(Long post, sorry) Picked up my Ultra Red/White MXP this morning. Everything went very smoothly, including the wire that was sent yesterday by FedChoice, just as their documentation indicated would be done. Only issues I found were a slight bulge in the first 2-3" of rubber trim where the...

For non-inventory Model X Plaid orders placed in September 2023, what is your estimated delivery date range?

Can't get mine to do this. They open a good amount of the way without intervention - easily enough for even me to get in without stooping much (would usually be my kids entering there anyway), but even with the "remember this location for fully open" or whatever, they still need prompting to go...

    Side window visor stand in?

Great idea. Sounds even more practical than the stick on solution. Think I'll try that. Thanks!

For non-inventory Model X Plaid orders placed in September 2023, what is your estimated delivery date range?

That's a wrap, right? Looks great, regardless, but the subdued tones of the reflections make me wonder. Maybe a filter? Some parts of it (front fenders) are reflective enough to seem like paint.
  16. Neon001

    Deliveries of $80k X?

Echo this. They're there only useful entity Tesla has. This rando "510" number. Caveat: they don't seem to care about your existence before you get assigned a VIN.
  17. Neon001

    Deliveries of $80k X?

Panasonic is only now responding to eroding demand from Tesla from before the price cut. Anyone who understands system dynamics knows that reacting to demand signals from less than 2-3 weeks ago is folly. These are massive machines working with massive latencies with large hysteresis, and...
  18. Neon001

    Deliveries of $80k X?

I won't say it's impossible, it's just that Tesla gives the full court press the last few/several weeks of the quarter to hit quarterly quotas. They seem to find West Coast deliveries easier logistically in that pressured context. I'm just sharing what I've seen in the past.
  19. Neon001

    Deliveries of $80k X?

IIRC, we ordered on the same day and are in the same area. I'm taking delivery tomorrow morning. Looks like your EDD range is still pretty close. Not to give you false hope or anything but I would guess you get your VIN in 7-10 days or so and take delivery third-fourth week of Nov. Dec is...

    Deliveries of $80k X?

Personally, I turned off the parking chimes on both of my previous USS-equipped cars (2019 M3 and 2022 MS). Everyone is different, of course, but I found them more irritating than helpful, even if they were relatively accurate. I never felt like I was unsure where the exterior of the car was...

For non-inventory Model X Plaid orders placed in September 2023, what is your estimated delivery date range?

You're saying you think they roll off the line in non-sequential order? Why would they do that? To clarify your statement, a 418 VIN might have a later production date than a 420? I am aware Tesla doesn't assign VINs to buyers and deliver cars in sequential order, but that's not the same as...
  22. Neon001

For non-inventory Model X Plaid orders placed in September 2023, what is your estimated delivery date range?

There have been a couple of 421s, yes, but most have not posted production dates. Someone with a 419XXX VIN said their production date was 10/10. 418s are probably in the late Sep-early Oct range, maybe even mid-Sep for very early 418s.

Plaid X Vibration at beginning of each drive: Who is experiencing this?

v2023.44? Does that even exist yet? Notateslaapp isn't reporting anything higher than 2023.38. This seems like progress, at least. I'd gladly trade 2 mi of range for a fix if I have this issue when I take delivery.

  25. Neon001

    Deliveries of $80k X?

Just fyi, signatures don't show up for folks using mobile devices (unless they have tablet modes like foldables). I used to refer folks to my sig but found many using the site couldn't see it.

    Side window visor stand in?

Not to bump my own thread, but if anyone finds this and is looking for a solution here, I found something from a very old thread. Static cling stick-on sunshades from amazon: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00ZOKJVAG/ref=sw_img_1?smid=A3KK1EJA3I8Q0S&th=1 I might give them a try. Not...

Model X long range motors vs plaid

This is my understanding as well. Interesting that both the MSP and MXP are top speed limited far below the 200mph limit, with only the MSP with track package unlocking the extra speed. Seems like a LOT of NRE work to develop specialized motors for a handful of cars. The take rate on the...

    Deliveries of $80k X?

Can absolutely use loan for sales tax. It's on the MVPA, so it's part of the price of the car. Their website says you can finance up to 125% ltv, so you should even be able to take out cash on top if you want to. I'm using them for my delivery on Halloween, and everything is smooth so far...
  29. Neon001

For non-inventory Model X Plaid orders placed in September 2023, what is your estimated delivery date range?

That does look incredible. Not regretting my choice for ultra red, but if that color were available when I ordered, it would have been a decision.
  30. Neon001

    Deliveries of $80k X?

Yup. My VIN was assigned on 10/15 but I was told it only shipped a day or so ago. And that's as a 418xxx VIN, so the damned thing has been built for a month or more, most likely.

Did you expect otherwise with that thread title? 🤨
  32. Neon001

Prediction: Model X price will be reduced to $78K in January 2024

Lol, now I understand the disconnect. You believe the EDD posted on Tesla's sales page is valid for all orders when in fact it's best case scenario. Okay then, nothing more to add.
  33. Neon001

Prediction: Model X price will be reduced to $78K in January 2024

Still, this makes no sense. Let's talk fundamentals: production and availability do not - in any real way - affect demand. Demand is driven by price, quality and desirability of the product. Shutting down production for NA destined models is NOT going to affect demand. Demand translates...
  34. Neon001

Prediction: Model X price will be reduced to $78K in January 2024

This statement doesn't make sense to me. I can see them trying to clear out inventory (of which there's almost none) in 2023 EoY, but you seem to imply that they will refuse new orders from the NA market throughout the entire month of Jan. Logic would dictate if there is demand (your statement...

    Side window visor stand in?

What do you MX owners do about blocking the sun when its at the top of your driver side window? The visor in most cars (including model S) works pretty well for this but due to the way the little flap embeds in the A pillar it doesn't seem to be usable for this in MX. Anyone have a workaround...

    Deliveries of $80k X?

Thank you. Yes, VIN was assigned 10/15, it's a MXP in red/white with yoke and 20s. I'm in MD.

    Deliveries of $80k X?

Sold my MSLR today and hours later got the request from Tesla to schedule delivery. I'm traveling to FL for work tomorrow until this coming Friday, and was really hoping I could Uber from BWI to my delivery center instead of going home. My SA says the system is showing the car should arrive at...

Tesla drops prices on X/S $20k. All colors free. Bye bye resale

Just sold my 22 with white interior, arachnids, and 15500 miles today for $65k. There aren't many for sale near me (private party). I paid around $87k for it in Jan 2022 ( Jan 2021 order), so I figure I did okay.
  39. Neon001

    Deliveries of $80k X?

Sorry, I must be blind, but I don't see the rate lock term anywhere on that page. I've seen more than one person in this thread claim they spoke with a rep from fed choice and were told its 30 days, and others have said 60 days on the same basis. I'm fine with either because my car is coming...
  40. Neon001

    Deliveries of $80k X?

Understand your point, but multiple others have posted contrary info after speaking directly with fed choice reps, and no one seems to be able to reference any documented policy (their website seems a bit light on that in general, to be honest). As you say, those concerned should probably reach...
  41. Neon001

For non-inventory Model X Plaid orders placed in September 2023, what is your estimated delivery date range?

Why bother cancelling an order? Better to simply hold the reservation and see if you change your mind. You can always refuse delivery when they insist you accept the car. Either way you're out the deposit so it does you no good to cancel early. Might be kind of inconvenient for Tesla, but...
  42. Neon001

Prediction: Model X price will be reduced to $78K in January 2024

I keep seeing this rhetoric, and I'd like to know why. You're citing irrelevant (international) data where pricing has not tracked NA market, and the facts are in contradiction to your story. How does the below look like "inventory is growing"? (NA Inventory for MX)Prices bottomed on 9/1 (in...

    Deliveries of $80k X?

Had a scare this morning when the Tesla app apparently updated without me realizing. Clicked on my MXP order and didn't see the VIN at the top under the RN. Started freaking out until I saw the "vehicle info" button and found the VIN and build details in a separate window. I've got a buyer...

    Deliveries of $80k X?

Just want to throw out a big thank you to @Breakthrough for the great loan tip. 👏 I think a lot of MX buyers are going to be taking advantage of that great rate! Sounds like someone over at FedChoice owes him one too! 😂
  45. Neon001

    Deliveries of $80k X?

Pretty cool video. The rattling is definitely noticeable, but I noticed that the gain on that mic must be through the roof. You can actually hear the capacitive buttons engaging, which is something I don't hear at all in my own car. Not saying there is no rattle ever, just saying I've never...
  46. Neon001

    Deliveries of $80k X?

And yet even at $1k/month I'd still take a $92k MXP over it. But we all value different things. If you like the MB, that sounds like a great deal (if you also don't mind leasing).

6 seat owners, any solutions to keep things in the back with third row folded down?

Good idea. I'll let you know how it turns out if I undertake this project. Might be a good bonding thing with my youngest (the Tesla fanatic).
  48. Neon001

    Deliveries of $80k X?

Hmm, you could be right. I do see another that breaks the pattern on the spreadsheet. It's a 10/9 VIN that's PF418XXX. Oh well. After the year long fiasco of trying to scry their early Model S refresh delivery priority logic, I've given up bothering. I waited 357 days for that car and I...

    Deliveries of $80k X?

Breakthrough mentioned they have a 3.99% minimum rate. I tried giving them a call but apparently we're already outside banking hrs. Typical!
