tri-motor Foundation Series ordered; can no longer find any delivery date from Tesla

Ordered a Foundation Series tri-motor Cybertruck on January 2nd and was told delivery would be mid- to late-2024. Today, when logging on to Tesla.com to `Manage` my order, there is no date shown at all. 😨 Checked the Tesla App too; nothing there either. Is it normal for Tesla to show no...

Thought experiment: Guy with Foundation Series offer adds Person#2 to title as Joint Owner; finalize "sale" to P#2 in a year

Sure, there are no doubt lots of ways ppl could work around things to reduce legal risk. The idea of my thought experiment was to think about two folks agreeing to technical joint ownership for a year in order to satisfy the Tesla rulz, while still letting a new person, w no reservation, get...

Thought experiment: Guy with Foundation Series offer adds Person#2 to title as Joint Owner; finalize "sale" to P#2 in a year

Following up the note of a couple weeks ago: I have been contacted since I posted this thread. Received a surprising call the other evening. And, "Yes, Virginia, there is a Santa Clause" there is a Bob! ... and Bob is apparently discussing this with an Alan. "Bob" called again. Says he...

Cybertruck Foundation Series Reservation Holder Reveals Cost Of $120,000: Only 1,000 Will Ever Be Made

Re the OP's assertion that started this thread: There is still no good source saying there will be only 1000 Foundation-series Cybertrucks.

Thought experiment: Guy with Foundation Series offer adds Person#2 to title as Joint Owner; finalize "sale" to P#2 in a year

Thank you to @jjrandorin , @Big Dog , and @someguywithcar for the substantive responses. To this point, consensus seems to be that a co-ownership title relationship would be okay as far as Tesla is concerned. Risks you have put forward are liability via ownership of a shared resource, and...

Thought experiment: Guy with Foundation Series offer adds Person#2 to title as Joint Owner; finalize "sale" to P#2 in a year

Thought experiment: TL;DR: Guy with Foundation Series Cybertruck offer adds Person#2 to title as Joint Owner; finalize "sale" to Person#2 in 12 months. ————————————————————————————————————————————— I'm a former Econ prof, and we often engage in "thought experiments". So let's do one...

Switch to hourly pricing for charging at home

You know, the power "company" is not a regular company in a free market. It's what economists call a "franchise monopoly", a monopoly created by the government. In theory, that's why it will supposedly be regulated in the public interest. ... and why it is called a regulated monopoly. Real...

how long should it take to precondition?

You need to provide a bit more information for informed people to speculate. What was the outside temperature during your 112 mile drive? What temp was the car stored in during the 10 to 16 hrs before your trip? I had a 2019 M3, and it used the inefficient electric means of heating things, a...

Decline Foundation Series, but maintain place in line?

I like the idea you are expressing here; I just don't know the veracity of it. As far as I understand, Tesla has never contractually bound themselves to follow any particular order with the million+ reservation holders. So I don't believe we can say that passing on a Foundation Series invite...

Can IFTTT be synced to Tesla to start charging automatically when electric prices go below a certain threshold?

This is a fascinating question the OP asked a year ago, and it deserves to be bumped. I just finished some deep research into my Denver, Colorado (Xcel Energy) options for buying cheaper electricity to charge my car, and was beyond underwhelmed. In the main, and in cahoots with the monopoly...

Cybertruck Foundation Series Reservation Holder Reveals Cost Of $120,000: Only 1,000 Will Ever Be Made

Yes, your hypothesis that "The Foundation series isn't "Sold-out" per se, in fact, Tesla intends to continue with the weekly release of limited order spots for the entire 2024." is entirely consistent with the overall thrust of what I see Tesla is doing here: use the market for price...

Source for production of 1,000 Foundation Series?

Then there is no source for the "1000" at all. It's just speculation until there is a source. Thanks to @Big Earl , @beewang for the thoughts, and to @logan for putting the question out there!

Cybertruck Foundation Series Reservation Holder Reveals Cost Of $120,000: Only 1,000 Will Ever Be Made

Yes, I'm agreeing with what others have said here this afternoon. I had the opportunity to configure a Foundation-series Cybertruck this morning. :) Saturday morning. See above for details. Now, as of Saturday evening, I logged back in to the Tesla.com website and selected my Cybertruck...

Cybertruck Foundation Series Reservation Holder Reveals Cost Of $120,000: Only 1,000 Will Ever Be Made

    Quad Motor

This is a Tesla forum, and we are in the Tesla Cybertruck subforum. Tesla has not offered a quad-motor Cybertruck. Following the recent delivery event, the coming of a quad-motor version is not even projected by Tesla or the most-reliable car/truck sources. Despite the OP who started this...

    Battery temperature and preconditioning questions

I tested FSD for a month. Why would I pay Tesla to train their AI?

I recently went on a multi-state road trip in my Model Y. Decided to test what FSD is all about. I had never done this before in 4+ yrs of Tesla driving. So I purchased a one-month FSD subscription for $200. On net, it worked rather decently on highway driving, only occasionally trying to...

    Delivery in 2024?

Yeah, in economic terms, Tesla is doing something called "price discovery" in the market. They understand the supply side: they know their costs to mfg a Cybertruck now, and they know better than us how rapidly they might ascend the manufacturing S-curve. But they do not (yet) know what the...

    Delivery in 2024?

My sense is that Tesla is particularly interested in the people who will order that Tri-motor Cyberbeast, at US$100k. They would want to plan 2024 production to maximize the higher margins they'll get on sales of a tri-motor Cyberbeast, and then fill in 2024 production with the slobs who...

Cybertruck sighting in the Littleton, CO

Agreed. Thanks for your note, I went out to Littleton and saw it today. They got their display Cybertruck on Friday. I talked with the Tesla guy who handles logistics, shipments in, etc. He expects this one is NOT a delivery vehicle, but will just be a showroom, or possibly, later, a...

Model Y AWD - puck size discrepancy

No. Structural integrity will be intact. The Potauto part is made from a block of aluminum, and the upper protrusion is ONLY used to center it in the holes in the chassis that ensure your weight is supported on the proper location and strength part of the chassis.

Cybertruck sighting in the Littleton, CO

Word is that the Cybertruck customer deliveries made at the Delivery Event on 30 Nov will be at a number of locations, with some livecasting of bits of multiple smaller local events. If that is the case, and with the Littleton, Colorado Tesla store near your sighting, and with Colorado a...

Can the end user place a Tesla Model Y into "Service mode"

I have two interests. 1) a current-in-time interest to better learn how the energy of the battery is used to keep the car & its systems at whatever temperatures under various conditions, particularly the winter time conditions that are coming for the northern hemisphere. Can the end user place a Tesla Model Y into "Service mode"

How many of you will/may transition to CyberTruck?

This thread is specific to the OP topic of who's gonna buy a Cybertruck; why's and wherefore's about buying one are on topic. Back to the OP question in the thread title: "How many of you will/may transition to CyberTruck?" What the puck?

I took the puck that came from Potauto and hand-filed the aluminum down to ~19.5 mm in order to fit my Model Y with a structural battery pack. It came 21.8 mm outside diameter. When I got to a clean 20 mm as measured by the micrometer, it still wouldn't fit. So I took it down to 19.5 mm.

Model Y AWD - puck size discrepancy

Just for context: I wrote the two posts immediately prior to these in a new thread earlier today, specifically titled so as to help reduce confusion of TMCers who come into these puck threads and have no idea, and then don't fully grok, how unique the "Model Y AWD" 2 279 mile range, sold to...

Model Y AWD - puck size discrepancy

First off: some older Tesla Model S (and maybe X) vehicles had lift point holes that were smaller than 25 mm. I don't have personal experience with S/X, but saw several TMC threads that mentioned this when I did my lift puck research last month. Some info was from back in 2013... So if you...

Model Y AWD - puck size discrepancy

TL;DR Most Model Y's built since 2019, and all those being built currently (as of Oct 2023) can use the widely available lift pucks sold by many companies today. Those vehicles have holes in the chassis at the lift points that are approx. 25 mm in diameter, and those will fit most all the pucks...

    What the puck?

Yes. I am confirming what @fholbert said earlier, upthread. For those of you who have the 279 mile range, Model Y AWD, manufactured at Austin (with an "A" in the 7th-character-from-the-last in the VIN) during 2023 ... The Potauto lift pucks, which claim to be 20 mm in diameter across the...

    What the puck?

Darn. I have one of these on order. Will let everyone know when I try it on my Aug '23 Model Y. But if the diameter is 22 mm, as you said in you later post, they won't fit. My four holes where the jack pads go are each only 20 mm. ... so will likely have to send it back via Amazon. NOTE...

Why is the "Boom box" feature turn off when I shut either one of the two front doors?

Thanks for that great info! Yes, the BoomBox feature works when Camp Mode is enabled! (but I can often not find what I'm looking for in the owner's manual. I can bring it up on the screen, but it seems to have no search feature. Perhaps I should ask about that in a new thread: How do people...

Why is the "Boom box" feature turn off when I shut either one of the two front doors?

I don't understand why the "Boom box" feature shuts off completely when I get out of the car and shut either one of the front doors. Want to listen while working in my garage and nearby patio. Has anyone on TMC written a bottom-up "user's manual" for how Boom box works, and how to best get the...

    What the puck?

By the way, those vehicles of this configuration that were already built and are not yet sold, won't be available long. Just checked the available INVENTORY in several cities on this next-to-the-last weekend in the 3rd quarter. "Model Y AWD" w 279 mile range: Denver still had several...

    What the puck?

Well, believe it. The structural battery pack Model Y (4680 cells) is manufactured on a different line section than the legacy way to build Model Y's. This line has many many different process flows, and is much more efficient for Tesla: reduced part count, reduced labor, many fewer mfg...
  43. A2be

    What the puck?

Why only start to believe it. That is, indeed, exactly the case. Only the Texas Model Y's with the structural battery pack using the 4860 cells have the 20mm holes. And today, this is only the configuration Tesla calls the "Model Y AWD", which while not on the configurator website any longer...

Model Y AWD - puck size discrepancy

Yes, one poster in this other thread on pucks found some for sale on Amazon that have the 20mm diameter protrusion. It's in this thread: What the puck? Also, that thread explains how those smaller holes at the jack points are only one SOME of the Model Y's built in Austin: the ones with...

    What the puck?

I'm happy to see someone else be public with the dimensions of the smaller holes on (some) Austin builds. Which particular version Model Y is yours? What the puck?

Well, then your call is incorrect. I have an Austin-build Model Y, and I measured the hole in the frame this morning with a caliper. I got 0.790 inches (which would convert to 20.07 mm). So I can assure you that my two-week old Model Y AWD (279 mile range), with an Austin confirmation letter...

Jack pads for new model Y from Austin built

    What the puck?

Yes, this happened to me. I bought a set of lift pucks off of Amazon last week that were not correctly labeled, as they DO NOT FIT into the smaller hole that is on the Austin-build Model Y's with the structural battery pack and the newer 4680 battery cells. Had to return 'em today. Until...

How can I transfer ownership of my Tesla, within the family?

Thanks for that link. We're gonna try to follow that process, and just let Tesla xfer the vehicle between the old and the new titles/ownership structure. Will let you all know how it goes.
