I got a genuine Tesla trailer ECU and tow bar from Norway. Can confirm that it's plug and play. Works 100% no problem. The only thing it doesn't do is give you trailer mode. Trailer mode isn't that great anyway. Kind of a pain tbh.

Only the mids are odd (3ohm), but there are a couple of good aftermarket swaps available (focal or JBL, which is actually a rebranded focal, but cheaper). The woofers and sub are pretty normal.

Yep that's what I've done. I'm convinced that it's streaming at the full 320kbps now, which is better than bluetooth (256kbps). Tidal should only be better if you download tracks in your car.

I wouldn't. For that I'd probably get some of those seat hoodie type things that kind of just drape over your seats. These seat covers have velcro straps that need to pass under the seats, which is probably a bit too much hassle for just a weekend trip.

Actually EU tow bars are already accepted under ADR. So there is literally no red tape. There is exactly zero extra regulatory approvals to do, as the car is already certified for towing in Australia.

Just when in use. The car detects that the trailer lights are connected and enters trailer mode. I think you can manually deactivate trailer mode though, but I'd have to check to be sure.

Worth mentioning that the radar question likely doesn't matter. It's expected that even cars with radars will have those radars turned off anyway, as all the cars transition to vision-only software.

There's more to it than that though. Mine was aligned within spec, the steering wheel was straight and the car tracked straight, but the rear tyres were getting dangerous wear patterns.

It's interesting because in EU it's allowed for bike racks. The EU model 3 manual even has guidelines for how to do it correctly. I use mine for a bike rack 🤷‍♂️

It's second hand from a wrecker. It was $800 for the tow bar and $500 for shipping. If you go this route, pricing will depend on the seller. I also found that many sellers won't ship outside of EU.
