    Custom Rhino Rack For Sale

I'm having trouble uploading actual pics but here's the manufacturers website. Note, I've already fit the rack to the car and that's the hardest part. It screws in tight but the rubber feet protect the car. There's no marks from where it sat on the roof. Vortex 2500 RS Black 2 Bar FMP Roof...

    Custom Rhino Rack For Sale

These racks are custom fit to the MS roof latch, with a snug fit and key locks. I kept them installed for 2 years through multiple car washes and 4 Chicago seasons without any lossening or noise. I sold the paddle boards and no longer need the rack. $200 plus shipping costs and they're yours...

    Roof racks: too ugly?

I got Rhino racks this season for SUP. They're the least expensive but very high quality. It took about 2 hours to install. The pano can still open full. I don't think they detract at all, and may even add to the cool factor. I'm not sure if I'm going to remove them for winter or not. Its a bit...

Pricing for Obeche Matte Center Console

Hi liuping. Are the sides grey, or is that just the lighting? If the sides are black and its in good shape I'll offer $300 + shipping (you can drop it at a UPS store and I will deal with them directly). Ok?

What has worked the best for paint protection given our harsh conditions?

I've had my car since March 2013, and had it opticoated November, 2013. It still looks new after 31,000 miles. To be fair, it's garaged when not in use, including days when parked at my office.

San Diego Man's $58,000 Nightmare with a (Salvage Title) Tesla Model S

I find this fascinating. 1) As an owner, I'm thrilled with further proof that stolen Teslas are worthless. I'm sure it will take a few episodes before word spreads, but it will soon be clear that TM can shut anyone out. 2) There is a very active EV builder community out there. If the salvage...

What's your 6.0+ car name (if you are willing to share?)

Racer X, of course, is my nemesis (and my older brother... wait a minute, this sounds familiar...), but the Shooting Star is no match for the Mach 5: "The Supercharged Mach 5 is an automotive machine incomparable to any other on the racing circuit. Its unique aerodynamic design, coupled with...

New project: Credit Card sized Key Fob, measuring interest

I'd buy one. I wonder if R&D requires much more than removing the guts from an existing fob, tossing the door opening stuff along with all plastic, and making a new home for what's left.

Panoramic Roof Sun Shade now in Tesla Store

In person it looks fine and functions well. Once installed it appears to be part of the original design. It is taught and high quality. My only gripe is that it is not retractable. It's either in or out.

Panoramic Roof Sun Shade now in Tesla Store

I hope this helps. There are two rectangular pieces that come twisted and folded in a nylon pouch. If you've ever seen a folding frisbee, thats the idea. So, you twist them, and they open into two rectangles, one slightly smaller then the other (for the front part of the roof). They have a...

Panoramic Roof Sun Shade now in Tesla Store

I did it. The Pano tint is probably 90% effective, but no amount of AC does the job when the sun is bearing down at the wrong angle. I hope this does the trick.

    Firmware 5.12

I was updated to 5.12 at the Highland Park SC today. The release notes remain unchanged. It starts the same as the other recent updates by explaining that it adds minor enhancements, then explicitly repeats the prior release notes.

Minor bumper damage/scuff -- options for repair in Chicago?

Gold Coast, on Division at Elston is the Tesla certified shop in Chicago. I was rear ended and their repair was flawless.

    Federal Tax Credit

THANK's for helping me pay my taxes, Tesla! I'm finally able to take advantage of the credit (bought 3/13) by applying my overpayment to my Q1 2014 estimate.

    Model S Celebrities

I saw Jeff Garlin's stand-up show tonight. He mentioned that he ordered a MS. He says its just so he doesn't have to stop for gas - pure laziness.

    Model S accidents

I was rear ended at approx 10 mph while I was stopped. The lower bumper (grey piece above the chrome) and plastic bumper (above grey, below hatch) both had to be replaced, and the plastic was repainted. Gold Coast Auto in Chicago did excellent work and direct billed the other driver's insurance...

Parcel shelf - No Longer Available

+1 roblab, I returned mine as well. Karma did me right a year later when I asked the service center for a new bracket piece for the shelf (mine cracked). They just gave me a new shelf.

    Edmunds.com test car failure

The race is on. If TM can get it fixed and back on the road quickly, we'll have some lemonade in the form of a good report on Tesla service.

    Highland Park, IL Service Center!

Sorry I missed the club members/fellow owners. I made it there around 5:30. It was open, but all the Grand was gone. FYI, according to the regional manager, these are the only superchargers planned for the metro area.

First confirmed battery swap upgrade from 60 to 85?

On the communication thing: 1) On Thursday I was speaking with the manager of the Chicago SC about the opening of the nearby Highland Park service and sales facility. He only knew that it was in the works. He was surprised to learn that TM had sent out announcements of the grand opening for the...

    When Features Disappear

Its all too easy to get worked up about violated principles, but reality is more nuanced. Isn't it obvious that TM took action to protect the company, and, consequently, the car owners who need to company to survive, shareholders, who need to stop the price from tumbling, and anyone who is...

Ordered 60kw and having some doubts now.

I've drive a 60 from Deerfield to the Loop 2 - 3x/wk and I've been doing it since March. From the drivers' seat, you can't feel the difference between a 60 and an S85. The range is plenty for the commute. At most, my 60 mile round trip burns 80 miles of range, travelling in mid 70s. Also, there...

Is anyone driving in snow with std 19" tires?

I was fine with the standard 19" all seasons for last winter in Chicago. The low center of gravity helps a lot, and like stated above, its rare to need to drive through deep snow.

A Class Action Lawsuit AGAINST "Pomerantz Grossman Hufford Dahlstrom & Gross LLP"

Shareholder Suit Against Tesla Like many of you, I own a model S and stock and this baseless suit really pisses me off. Although I'm a lawyer I know very little about Class Actions or derrivative actions. However, I think our first step should involve putting a stake in their dreams of making...

Opti-Coat Pro North and West Suburbs

Opti-Coat is like a chemical wax, but it requires good paint correction first. Think of it like HD TV, you don't want to magnify flaws.

Opti-Coat Pro North and West Suburbs

I strongly recommend Chicago Auto Pros. Their shop is in Glen Ellyn, but one of the managers lives in Skokie at Edens and Touhy, and he swapped cars with me. I'm in Deerfield. So, Greg met me at Lake Street in Wilmette on Sunday, and I took his Miata for the day. I picked my car up in Skokie...

    Reliability of Superchargers?

Right. Under "standard" conditions, I'll consume at rated range at 67 mph. So, at most, that would mean 50 miles of range remaining when I reach a SC. MY sole point is that if I couldn't charge at SC, that day is going to be very different than planned. I haven't used many SCs, but I plan to do...
  34. Alfafoxtrot1

    Reliability of Superchargers?

Conservative approach sounds great, but its not much of an option in a 60kwh. We have to commit to the SC. Most likely, we'll find somewhere nearby to get some juice, but no SC is always going to throw our plans off the rails.
  35. Alfafoxtrot1

    Break in period?

The driver break in period is probably more important to the health of your car than mechanical break in. Give yourself wide birth from curbs, parking columns, other cars, etc. its a wide car with protruding fenders, all unseen from the cockpit. Don't push the range. Develop an understanding of...

    Options for O'hare

There's lots of public charging stations nearby, but none that I'd feel comfortable parking at for several days. I think you either need to plan on plugging in for a few hours when you return, or make private arrangements with someone who can plug you into a 110v and watch it for you, such as a...

    Tesla Ambassadors?

The car sells itself, indeed. I just came back from a week at EAA/AirVenture/Oshkosh (http://airventure.org/index.html) 500,000 people, 10,000 aircraft, and one Tesla driving VIPs around with a flashing light stuck on top. Vehicles are mostly restricted, so, my car really couldn't be missed...

    pete8314's Key Fob Cover

Pete - I had a few items addressed at the Chicago SC today. I was surprised they hadn't seen your fob before, but that was clearly the case. The manager really liked it, and he made a point of showing it to the other employees nearby.

    Model S accidents

I feel for the driver and/or owner. However, once again, it looks like the structure held up to the impact. I'd be surprised if the passengers didn't walk away from it.

Blue exterior - any comments from those who have seen or purchased?

    Supercharger - Normal, IL

The garage is attached to city hall on one side, and an amtrack station on the other. There's a combo garage info and ticket desk on the station side. It will make sense when you're there.
