    Car died. BMS errors f123, w123, w073, w035, w142, w158

Might be coolant in the drive unit - checkout the LDU seal fail thread. Either way, not a great scenario.

My 12V battery & high voltage battery pack died on the same day at the same damn time?

It sounds like bad luck right? The 12V needs a constant supply from the DCDC converter driven off the main pack to survive. If there is a HV isolation fault - from the drivetrain, or main battery, or coolant heater, the power to the 12V is cut off and the MCU and other 12V systems draws thier...

TESLA MODEL S stopped working... CAR MAY NOT RESTART

I just tried sending the above 0x602 CAN message to clear a HVIL fault after replacing my coolant heater to bus3 on 2012 MS (low resistance from and to b+ on the connector). Code did not clear, but I got a BMS_f011_HW_Illegal_ctr_Req back - I'm guessing my CAN message is corrupt somehow?

Tesla keeps trying to subtly roll out this feature. Glad we're not going for it 😅

    Just kill it off already

https://www.carexpert.com.au/car-news/byds-yangwang-reveals-u9-electric-supercar Really, at this point, why bother with Roadster 20xx? It's almost comical.

Oh good, your still alive! :) Followed this thread since the beginning and was concerned. I guess you haven't driven 10k miles yet so no news is good news?

Color-coding locations on the supercharge.info map between V1, V2 and V3 superchargers (versus just a red dot)

Necroing an old thread, but it would be useful for the filters to be more specific - for example, I want to filter out V3 chargers, but can't because >150KW includes the V3's... How about a <250KW and <150KW option, or just multiselects?

    Model S Software/Firmware wishlist

In 2014 they released that and removed it a short time later. It worked well. It might be baked in under the covers now, with no user adjustment, but rather automatic. Would be interesting to test it with a meter.

Cybertruck Steer By Wire Safety Concerns and Details

Say what you will about Tesla's iterative approach to cost reduction, but they tend to go in the opposite direction when launching a new (unproven)technology - they go a little overkill in the engineering aspects to bolster confidence in the beginning. I would probably be a little more...

Original 2012 S Owner considering trade in for 2023 model - questions

A front camera would be cool. You know what'd be cooler? A telescopic camera that would extend a foot or so behind the bumper when shifting into reverse so I could see left and right when pulling out of a tight parking spot - especially if both vehicles next to me were trucks or other large...

    2023 Holiday Update Wishlist

    Model S Software/Firmware wishlist

The blind-spot camera, appearing on the screen(to the right of the driver) when making a left turn is counter-intuitive for me. I much prefer the warning indicator in the direction I am looking in. I know that these are all stepping stones to the ultimate vision(no pun intended) of doing...

Has anyone done wheel alignment at Tesla?

    2012 MS85. I chew through tires, lets's see - 5 sets, 120Kmiles 120/5 = 24K miles per set - give or take.
  22. Hank42

Has anyone done wheel alignment at Tesla?

I asked them.... They said it was all within spec. They did not give me a hardcopy from the machine, just on the invoice. I won't spend my alignment money there ever again, that's for sure - feel like I was taken. But that was 2 years and one car ago.
  23. Hank42

Has anyone done wheel alignment at Tesla?

I had my wheels aligned at Tesla. I don't think they did anything. Still had tire wear and felt no difference, except my wallet was a little lighter.
  24. Hank42

    Cyber Squat?

Cool. Yeah, with the deletion of the ramps, it would be useful if it could at least still squat.
  25. Hank42

$3k repair bill, is this legitimate?

I would not say the cost is REASONABLE. As others pointed out the labor RATES are what makes it unreasonable. It is about on par for a Tesla SC. $250 an hour for labor is insane.
  26. Hank42

    Cyber Squat?

I've read a bunch of things that were depicted in the initial reveal of the truck that have been since deleted, such as the built in bed ramps. Does that mean the ability to squat the rear is also gone?

Is it worth getting an M3P over the LR at basically the same price?

The end of year discounts on demo's are really good. I just took delivery of the same combo as you, except white interior ay my Kisco sc. It was a complete zoo with all the cars they were delivering that day - not thier brightest moment for sure. Anyway, For the savings, pick up a set of tires...

    Cybertruck Spotted LA (405 Freeway)

Get the tomatoes and eggs ready - I' think it looks terrible. SS is the way to go, or this black just is done wrong. Maybe if I saw it in person - a lot is lost in a photo.
  29. Hank42

Is it worth getting an M3P over the LR at basically the same price?

The definition where I am(NY) states that it qualifies as "new" so long as it has not been registered in by a private party. This link states that used vehicles qualify for $4K which I found interesting. https://www.nerdwallet.com/article/taxes/ev-tax-credit-electric-vehicle-tax-credit

I just bought a M3 Demo yesterday - and it qualified - strange..

Original 2012 S Owner considering trade in for 2023 model - questions

The old S's had what they call a "Yacht" floor between the front seats. Perfect place for me to drop my lapto bag without consuming a seat, or the wife and her purse. I don't mind the screen orientation - horizontal, vertical - not a big deal for me.

Original 2012 S Owner considering trade in for 2023 model - questions

Your 2 cents are worth so much more than that to me! I had some more time behind the wheel of the new one, and I agree pretty much with what everyone mentioned. In my trials, the predictive shifting never worked and I ended up using the screen - not so bad at all - I didn't even need to "get...

Original 2012 S Owner considering trade in for 2023 model - questions

Considering it's time to upgrade to the latest model. I love my RWD 85S, but thinking it might be time to trader her in. I drove a friends for a short trip, and was no overly impressed. I mean, YES, I was impressed, but I expected a little more. Aside from the loss of stalks etc.. I haven't...

Cybertruck will have rear wheel steering

Hmmm. Quite different yes... But still car-like - Stamped upper vs forged on H2(and MS!): Vs:(H2)
  36. Hank42

Any third party, LED rear tail lights for the Model S instead of the crappy, 2000s looking ones we have?

I just saw these driving during the day in the rain, so I assu.e the headlights are on. Why do they look like they are braking (blindingly bright) when they are not? Is that normal for the new design?

Reuters: "Tesla readies revamped Model 3 with project 'Highland' -sources" [projected 3rd quarter 2023]

Many of us here like to think people who buy Teslas are enlightened in some way - early adopters, open to changing the world etc.. I think some people are finally accepting of the whole "EV thing" but don't fall into that "enlightened" category and just want to blend in;Tesla is the market...

    Cybertruck, is it worth it

Hmm... Counterpoint - If you trade in a working ICE for an EV, someone out there who might have bought a NEW ICE now has your old ICE and you have an EV. So instead of TWO ICE's on the road, you just took one off the road by trading up to an EV. The point is to get new EVs on the road to...

OEM CCS adapter now available to order in North America, Retrofit for older cars coming in 2023

Interesting. Thanks! So, Tesla Superchargers are bilingual (That's how magic dock works with non Tesla's I presume) and they speak a native protocol as well that only Tesla's speak so they can charge older, non-css Tesla's like older S's etc? So the only thing these other players are doing...

How many of you will/may transition to CyberTruck?

Texas - land of the F-150 and Rudy's BBQ! :) By me, they are few and far between, and sadly, the ER's are hard to come by with the right packages unless you custom order - and end up in the possible situation I described where you're at the dealer's mercy.
  46. Hank42

How many of you will/may transition to CyberTruck?

Uhm no, actually, true first hand experience just a few weeks ago. Markup was ~8K over MSRP. Ended up cancelling the order after a half dozen phone calls. and finding a similarly equipped model at a different dealer that had stock - not what I ordered however, so that was the tradeoff. For...

How many of you will/may transition to CyberTruck?

Ford's dealer model is to blame for some of this. Once you configure your Lightning on Ford's website and get a "price" it goes to the dealer, and they can mark it up to whatever they want, and they do. You have no way of knowing what that number is until you it "submit" on your order, then...
