I figured. Received notice from the power company this morning... that there needs to be a revision to the application. So close, yet so far. The good news is my advisor is back to giving me updates again.
After not hearing anything, I had sent a text and asked where we were on getting PTO. Less than an hour later, I received an email from the power company about an update to the interconnect. Think that is for the PTO? I hope so.
Well it is not just the more expensive price, the cut down on the Solar/Powerwall combo discount as well. My 8.16 Solar with two Powerwalls is now $33,400. Back in July I got it for 30,500. If you can get them to honor your previous quote, that is a substantial difference IMO.
That seems odd that it is exporting your solar during peak. I guess that would make since with net metering, but horrible with a demand charge. I reread the Powerwall description for Peak and it only says "Powerwall will discharge during peak and discharge in other periods to ‘make room’ for...
Out of curiosity, what do you have your 8PM to 3PM labelled? I was wondering if that discharge changes if that overnight was shoulder vs off peak?
I guess if it is "making room" for your solar, it wouldnt matter.
Phoenix area install here. My advisor's phone number on my account is for Palo Alto, CA. She was reasonably responsive through email for most of my project until inspections. Then someone locally basically took over to schedule and coordinate the inspection process through text. All that...
Bummer. Looks like that was the original Solar award:
Ordered between September 9, 2019 and January 16, 2020
$100 award for anyone using a referral link
This is super useful. What was your experience with the default Cost Savings in the Tesla app during peak?
I am just waiting for PTO from APS. Do you remember how long it took for your inspection passed to PTO?
Ordered between January 17, 2020 and July 14, 2020 was $250 each.
Ordered on or after July 15, 2020:
Referred Customer:
$100 award
Referrer:
$400 award
One (1) Powerwall per referrer, when there are 10 or more referrals
Last night Tesla Energy sent out a tech to get thing labelled and to take a look at the breaker panel. This morning they were fixing the remaining issues and right now they are waiting for the inspector. I really love the effort they are showing trying to get this passed this week.
Here is...
So inspection was failed. The big no no is they used the same breakers from the old panel on the new panel and since it is a new panel they need to bring the breakers up to 2017 code. There were other things not labelled correctly. Inspector even offered to meet the Tesla electrician the day...
Yep as it turns out the inspector would need to turn off the power to check the safety guards. So that would kill my internet connection for my remote garage control. So inspection delayed until Tuesday, my day off. I appreciate Tesla trying to work with me.
As luck would have it, I just received a text message that my modified permit has been dropped off. They would like to schedule the inspection, but since a panel is in my garage, someone needs to be home. I inquired about my ability to remotely open the garage and she is checking with her...
Finally got around to uploading the photo of the array.
The powerwall crew came out on Labor Day and completed the installation. I received a text that some installation items will need to be fixed the next day with possibly a modification of the permit. For the first time during this...
Just a crappy one with a tree in the way lol. I am trimming the tree this weekend and will have much better photos of the solar install.
I called scheduling this morning for my Powerwall install and they are sending a crew on Monday.
The install team cracked six tiles on my roof. They immediately returned to replace them so the roof is now complete. I have no issues with this install team.
Solar complete. Powerwalls will have to be another day unfortunately. Guys were great, just lacking manpower. They gave me the panel layout with the serials. I already sent my advisor an email asking to be scheduled or have scheduling reach out to me. Not ideal, but I appreciate their efforts.
It is install day! So far the only hiccup is the city of Buckeye will not allow batteries to be installed inside the garage. The powerwall installer told me they just failed an inspection because of it. So they are going in the sideyard that will be shaded from the morning and afternoon sun...
Penn Jillette mentioned on his podcast that he always pees in the same field when he makes his routine trip out of Vegas in his Tesla and needs to supercharge. Penn is also self proclaimed carnie trash, so yeah. ;)
Another major update:
I had not heard about my interconnect being resubmitted so I shot my advisor an email on the 17th. Prompted with an out of the office message, but she got back to me on the 19th and said she would ask the team for an update. The 20th a new design was submitted and...
I literally emailed my rep this link: https://www.azleg.gov/legtext/50leg/2r/bills/sb1229p.pdf
Explained that Arizona does not charge tax on storage as well and directed here to Section 1, 15 or simply line 27 on the last page.
The next day I received a new loan agreement from Tesla and today I...
I am for any increase of infrastructure at this point. I am still unaware of a way to drive an EV from Phoenix to Las Vegas that is not a Tesla. Kingman needs EA to expand there ASAP.
First major set back. APS, my power company has denied Tesla's interconnection plan and needs it to be revised. To Tesla's credit, I had a text message this morning at 7am notifying me of this. I was already CC'd with my power company, but it is nice Tesla Energy is being active in their...
Much like other posters have stated, nope. I am visual, so this helped me. How the gateway is wired will determine how much is backed up. Do you have more than one breaker panel on your home? If so, both would have to be behind the gateway for backup.
I did, but my home may be different. Natural gas water heating and furnace. My big power draws are the EV charging, oven and AC. Not much else but a dryer that I will eventually upgrade to natural gas. I am also not in a outage prone area, so my main focus is reducing or eliminating my peak...
Partial backup, but still backing up your car charging and AC? That looks like a win.
My status was also stuck on the reviewing stuff, but my permit was actually submitted and approved. My sales rep Amelia let me know that there was a connection change that required the permit to be...

Buyer beware. They have ghosted people on defects too. Anyone using the pixel 4xl and Jeda Wirless Charging Pad?
I am not sure why you want to die on this hill for this company? If it was inexpensive Chines junk I would...
I cannot comprehend Jeda gives you piece of mind after reading this thread. Those cute emails claim they are honoring cancellations, but we have users that were getting no response. You may be correct about the QC, but piece of mind? This is not the first time I have heard complaints about Jeda.
Summer of 2021 could be very interesting. It will be interesting if Tesla tries to beat them to the punch, but how can they get their factory built in time for that?
To add, I have had luck calling the general Energy line: (888) 518-3752
However, emailing [email protected] was hilariously delayed. Definitely keep the email of you SA emails you a doc.
I do not feel like starting my own thread, so just an update now:
Tesla Energy is getting the permits ready and talking with APS. Just as a data point, every text and email has been responded to same day and it seems it has been the same person Amelia. This is quite different from my car...
Their sites are incredibly misleading. They give a 100kW for their timeframe and the car cannot charge faster than 77kw and owners will never see anything past 74 kW. I am speaking of the car's capability. Not the infrastructure.
HOA has conditionally approved my solar design. Basically they stressed not having panels above the top roof peak. Should be no problem. My advisor had me email it to [email protected] and CC'd her.
A quick glance, so correct me if I am wrong.
Kona EV
Soul EV
Niro EV
Ionic EV
Chevy and BMW also refer to their 50kw fast charging. For me it is 100kw but lets not kid ourselves that fast charging means dick if you do not have the infrastructure.
Actually GM is what made me give up on any interest in announcements and prototypes. Remember that revolutionary announcement in March about all those EVs they will be making? THEY ALREADY DID THAT ANNOUNCEMENT IN 2017!!!
Sorta again in 2018 Reading about them still hyping the Volt makes me...
So did Dyson.
Once again, I have no interest in announcements and prototypes. I have seen this same song and dance before and I have no desire for it again. EV fans sure do like to get excited about borderline vaporware.
NOTE: My frustration is regarding North American EV releases.
