How much extra would you pay for AWD

I'm interested in how they price the X AWD performance it in relation to the performance S. I'm hoping we don't have to wait to long and Elon releases the "variants" soon. I have AWD on both my current vehicles and would love it if they add it to the S as a "reasonably" priced upgrade.

How much extra would you pay for AWD

From the Tesla website for the X "WHAT'S NEXT? We unveiled the Model X Design prototype on February 9, 2012. It represents our current vision for this groundbreaking vehicle. Deliveries will begin in 2014 and priced comparable to a similarly equipped Model S. More details will be announced as...

How much extra would you pay for AWD

"I don't see how they could add another motor and inverter for less than $10K, and would not be surprised it it's higher. Maybe they'll downsize the rear motor and inverter since duties will be shared, which would provide some savings, but not much" Why? Tesla states that the X and the S will...

How much extra would you pay for AWD

Let's face it, Tesla needs this option to compete with its competitors. Even the new Acura NSX will have AWD. The article below outlines the positives and negatives of AWD and the names the too ten sports cars with it (let's not forget that other sedans such as the Panamera and CTS have it)...

Tesla will introduce few "other variants of Model S" next year.

According to some car sites, the X is estimated to weigh approx 5000 lbs (not sure if that is RWD or AWD) but if it is 400 lbs or so heavier than the MSP. Therefore it would seem the MSP with AWD would shave a few tenth s of a second off 0-100

Agree - with AWD the Model S will be the fastest sedan in the world - I think Cadillac lays claim to it although I think the Panamera Turbo AWD may also be in the mix. Make it the best sedan in the world Elon - you have everything set up to make it happen.

How much extra would you pay for AWD

How they price this will be interesting. The have said the cost of the X will be comparable to the S (on Tesla website). So how will they explain the cost difference between X AWD performance and S AWD performance.

How much extra would you pay for AWD

What is the cost for this extra on an ICE? Given the set up, why would this cost more on an electric? - - - Updated - - - Looks like AWD is at the forefront of speculation on the variation http://www.greencarreports.com/news/1080336_tesla-model-s-more-new-versions-coming-says-ceo-elon-musk

    Model S First Drive Reviews

Thanks Peter. A family member has 2010 MQ and loves it. It was great to read a comparison of the two.

What is the weight of the X with AWD? I'm curious because at 4.4 from 0-60 that is the same as MSP. Therefore if the X is heavier than MSP, the Model S Performance should be quicker to 60 with the same set up.

The addition of the second motor adds some weight but it also adds more power. How does this translate to faster 0-60 and 0-100 times? Yes the raw speed of the performance model is a big attraction for me. I think AWD would bring the SX into the A1 category and would match it with just about...

Tesla will introduce few "other variants of Model S" next year.

The AWD in the S is not an if but rather a when. As others have stated the skate boards are so similar it would not be difficult. The cars that the S is competing with (Porsche, Audi, etc.) offer this option. However, my question is about AWD and performance. So to the experts out here, how...

Tesla will introduce few "other variants of Model S" next year.

The Tesla Model SX has a nice ring to it or Tesla Model GT. I would definitely upgrade (if it was reasonably priced) given the winters around the Great Lakes.

    Desired options unavailable?

I would think that there is a market for the Tesla model SX. Those of us living in the snow belt would like the AWD option. Further I believe there is a market for the added performance it would provide especially when you consider many of the cars competitors (Audi, Porsche, etc. offer it)
