    FSD beta coming to 98?

There is nothing at all odd about this. If you have a set route you take that is ~23.42 miles and get a FCW, then every single trip that occurs on will have a 42.7 FCW/1000 miles reading.

2021.36.5.2 installed. Car wants to downgrade…

Something like “beta will be pushed back to all cars that previously had it” would go a long way. Having to deal with the safety score again is not ideal.

Once they communicated what was going on, I let it revert. But they have to communicate better.

2021.36.5.2 installed. Car wants to downgrade…

Anyone else’s 2021.36.5.2 car currently downloading 2021.36.5.1? I’m not going to let it install over top of the fsd beta without any communication explaining why they need to.

    Safety Score

I would be curious how many folks have a perfect or high score who use their vehicles in a commute vs people who can use their Tesla only when they elect to. I don't commute with mine (so was bitten by the 100 mile minimum the first time), but have the luxury of deciding when and where I drive...

[UPDATED] 2 die in Tesla crash - NHTSA reports driver seat occupied

I assume you got this from some skidpad test, but that's a bad application of that value. Skidpad numbers are only valuable for direct comparison with other vehicles. They in no way give you the max controllable lateral acceleration for arbitrary curves. I'm not saying your conclusion is...

Any 99 Safety Scores receive FSD Beta yet?

After being bitten by the uncommunicated 100 mile minimum on the first roll out, I decided to make sure I didn't get passed up for this rollout. (didn't realize it had been trickling out as people met the requirements), so last night I took a 105 mile 100/100 drive. That gives me over 100 miles...

Range Loss Over Time, What Can Be Expected, Efficiency, How to Maintain Battery Health

This is in line with what I’ve always seen. Keep them 3 years. Keep them plugged in at 90% all the time. Little to no loss. I think my S lost 2 miles rated in that time. As I've always said, anyone telling you to do something else is just making your life harder. it always seems to be the...

    Model 3 crash @ +100MPH

You can travel at a high rate. You can travel at a high speed. Combining the two is just redundant gibberish that people use because for some bizarre reason they feel it sounds educated.

    Hack to keep autopilot engaged

Indeed, and people were for some reason claiming the car in the Model S video isn't a Tesla.
  13. O

    Hack to keep autopilot engaged

Because some folks were claiming that the video isn't a Tesla. It's a model s, so.... Last I checked, that's a tesla.

That's a Model S... Not sure what you folks are going on about.

    Leaving car in garage.

Just leave it plugged in all the time you are able to. Don't worry about it. Ignore anyone who starts giving you bizarre battery advice. It's a non issue. You do more harm than good if you adopt weird charging habits. The only thing to be mindful of is the only thing Tesla tells you do be...

    Chrome Trim Discoloring Badly

Back when I had it, my service center fixed a spot where I found missing clear coat on my model S at the 2 year mark. This was in 2018 though.

    T-Mobile

Very, very odd choice for where to post about your cell phone... But... T-Mobile is a pretty good case of you get what you pay for. It's a lot cheaper than Verizon/ATT, but once you leave urban areas you see why. I keep meaning to swap to a different carrier because when my internet or power...

What percentage of Model 3s are "lemons"

The JD Power survey is problematic due to what is classified as an issue. The more features a given vehicle has, the larger number of issues they will report. We only need to look at the top of the list (Dodge) to know the value of that particular survey. Did autopilot want you to take over...

What percentage of Model 3s are "lemons"

Repeating the same data that has the inherent selection bias does not remove that selection bias. Your data is meaningless as you have an inherently biased sample. The people who responded to your poll had that rate, but online polls on a niche website are absurdly biased. You can't claim...

What percentage of Model 3s are "lemons"

This is a patently absurd claim. A forum survey of this type is subject to absurd levels of selection bias. This data is essentially meaningless.

    Spotify search to kill you

No. The free option is Slacker or whatever they rebranded it to. You have to supply your own Spotify account. That said, I’ve never had any of the problems this person is reporting so it certainly isn’t a universal issue.

Question about drastic range loss from new owner

uhhh. Your outlet isn’t a gas station. You don’t have to go out of your way to plug it in. Why are you keeping gas car habits? Leave it plugged in all the time when you can. There is no reason to ever leave home without a full charge unless you weren’t home long enough to charge it all the...

Speed limit signs my M3 did NOT see

Yellow signs like the posted one aren’t speed limits so the car should never pay attention to those to begin with regardless of the scenario. Those are speed advisories for upcoming turns and such so that you keep your lateral g force under 0.22 Gs. If you were to have an accident on one of...

    Driving Route 66 - in a model 3?

This is entirely untrue. You can lose the map display, but the car does not need a cell connection to know where it is located or to navigate. There is a local copy of the required mapping data to do this. If you are navigating already or enter an address (won’t be able to search anymore) it...

    Charging habit

That’s totally fine. Even if you weren’t driving it at all you’d want to leave it plugged in to let the car decide when to top off.
  27. O

    Charging habit

Tesla says leave it plugged in at 90% limit or lower all the time when you are able. You can choose to listen to the designers of your car, or you can choose to listen to random people on the internet who tell you something else. I know who I would trust more. My two Teslas since 2015 have...

Yikes! Error Message: Unable to Drive/Pull Over Safely

Not really. It's more likely to fail day 1 than any given day in next year (or 2 or 3...). Failures follow a "bathtub curve". That is, there are many, many failures nearly immediately, then fewer failures for a long time until whatever age causes wear-based failures.

View side videos streaming while driving forward (?)

Some people just can’t accept that what they think they know is wrong. Once I finally learned how mirrors should actually be pointed in my late 20s or early 30s it was a surprise. With properly adjusted mirrors every car is present in one of your mirrors at all times until it is far enough...

View side videos streaming while driving forward (?)

Blind spots are mostly a myth. Stop wasting 1/4-1/3 of your mirror space on the side of your car and they magically go away.

Our cars “see” others’ turn signal?

Yes and no. The neural net controlling AP (and TACC) was specifically trained to detect impending cut-ins from other lanes. So it doesn't understand turn signals exactly, but one of the things that would have a very high weight for that action would be those signals, yes. I know that sounds a...

USB for dashcam exFAT vs FAT

It was previously true, but they disabled that feature a few releases ago. Yes, ext4 is superior to exfat in this application because it is a journaled file system which makes it more resilient to unexpected interruptions (such as if the power to the drive were unexpectedly cut mid-write like...

    Nav/Map

That data is the aerial view available to google. That’s not onboard at all and is streamed to your car as you drive. If whatever service google uses has updated the aerial images for the area you drive in, you will get the new images. This happens all the time in different areas of the...

    Autopilot, what do I have?

You need to stick with it then and retain a lawyer if necessary. If you’re in Illinois (just a guess on your user name) it is under the small claims court limit.
  35. O

    Autopilot, what do I have?

As long as Tesla never owned the vehicle after the first owner, that is immaterial. The licenses are transferable. Only when Tesla owns the vehicle can they remove the license (and then resell cheaper).
  36. O

    Autopilot, what do I have?

*If* that 3rd party dealer purchased the vehicle from Tesla they may have removed it while they were the owner of the vehicle and then charged that 3rd party dealer a price appropriate for a vehicle w/o FSD. Then your 3rd party dealer played dumb. In this case, Tesla's poor recordkeeping and...

Choosing a Formatting Option for the Flash Drive

For a few updates, the dash cam would happily use ext4 which was a far better choice in this application due to being journaled, but sadly, they've since disabled that functionality (unless at some point they re-enabled it...). It stopped accepting ext4 as a valid dashcam formatting right when...

NITTO MOTIVE - Longer Life & Lower Cost Alternative to Michelin MXM4 Tires?

Basing your decision on whether or not a tire is "high quality" on only cost and how long they last is super naive. Any tire company can make a cheap tire that lasts for ages, but that doesn't mean the tire is good at all. It needs to actually perform as a tire. That is, maintain grip well in...

    Battery degradation???

That’s easy enough to find out. Just swap to the other wheels and see how much it changes.
  40. O

    Battery degradation???

This seems a common theme with people who report this type of battery estimate. You really should leave your vehicle plugged in all the time when at home. A plugged in Tesla is a happy Tesla.
  41. O

    Battery degradation???

Note this should say constant divided in to, not divided by. It is the power divided by the constant, not vice versa. It won't let me edit the original post. For what it's worth, my 2018 with only 7k miles on it has no degradation to speak of. I 100% charged it late last week and it...
  42. O

    Battery degradation???

Absolutely not. Please don’t spread myths. The cars have a power used per mile constant. This doesn’t change. It doesn’t matter how you drive it. The only factors that play in to it are which model you have and which wheels the car is programmed as having. The cars have an estimated power...

HW 2.5 with EAP puddle avoidance

It’s easy to mistake a coincidentally correct action due to what is actually a mistake/other change as AP being more sophisticated than it actually is, but rest assured it doesn’t understand water pools or pot holes. The change in the appearance of the road caused a different response, sure, but...

Does "Enhanced Autopilot" Stay with the (Used) Vehicle

If Tesla buys the vehicle at any point, they may change the configuration (and lower the price for the resale). After all, it is their property at that point. The issue comes in when either a shady dealer then buys it and uses the original Monroney as “proof” of features, or they (Tesla) resell...

    P+ Horrible 0-60 times

Drag strip implies rollout... The way they time is what started the whole rollout thing anyway. You can't get a time from a drag strip that has no rollout unless you purposefully stage incredibly poorly.

Do electromagnetic fields cause long term damage to health by driving an EV?

Ah yes, the internet where mounds of peer reviewed research mean nothing compared to your feelings. There is no danger. Your "opinion" has no effect on reality.
  47. O

    P+ Horrible 0-60 times

Heavier tires are more of an impact than heavier wheels of the same weight increase. Weight farther from the hub makes for a larger moment of intertia (the moment of inertia equation contains a length squared component). Plus he's going up a hill. Plus we have no idea how good the surface is.
  48. O

    P+ Horrible 0-60 times

Weather, surface, measuring accuracy, etc all factor in to this. Getting to that speed that quickly isn’t just a given. Even with awd you need decent temps and a good surface and if you’ve changed wheels/tires.... why is this surprising?

Alternative repair options for windshield? Any 3rd party?

Any sane insurance agency will require an inspection on a deductible reduction specifically to prevent the type of insurance fraud you are suggesting here (because yes, that's what you're advocating he do).

Current real world 0-60 times vs. advertised for all models

Specifically it means this: At a drag strip, the car position is measured by breaking a light beam low to the ground (think where the tire is what blocks it). So when cars stage, they try to barely block the beam since the timing will not start until the beam is behind the front tire. So...
