Will the TPMS sensors work in a 2021-2022 Model 3?

Just had the TPMS replaced on my winter wheels at Tesla service center, Dedham, MA. $256.

I think you made a wise decision going with the 2022. Worth the wait!

Is PPF or ceramic coating necessary?

Well, since I'm leasing, I went with a hybrid ceramic wax. Good gloss and water repelling and cheap. Teslas are kind of notorious for soft paint. My 2019 had several rock strikes/paint chips that I touched up with touch up paint. Advice - never park under trees (bird poop, sap) or drive...

Model 3 - LR AWD Waiting Room

I agree! I had no issues with my 2019 M3LR, but the 2022 M3LR feels more solid, the suspension seems better sorted, the interior is nicer with the updated center console, the wireless charging, the alcantara on the doors, with the double pane windows it's even more quiet. To my eye, the paint...

Model 3 - LR AWD Waiting Room

Ordered 2/17/2022 Delivered 5/20/2022 Exterior: midnight silver, looks waaaay better in person, glossy with blue metallic flecks. Quality seems significantly better than my blue 2019. Interior: white, center console definitely an upgrade over the 2019 and lover the 2 wireless phone chargers...

    Master Thread: 3 Delivery experiences

Got my 2022 M3 5/20. Ordered 2/17/22. Picked up at Dedham, MA Tesla dealer. Went very smoothly. All details and payments handled before delivery. Turned in my 2019 M3, which was leased. The 2022 is also a lease. 2019 was blue exterior, white interior. 2022 is midnight silver with white...

Yes, they would extend the lease of my current M3 LR until the new one arrives.

Range Loss Over Time, What Can Be Expected, Efficiency, How to Maintain Battery Health

I've seen a number of reports that show range loss is greatest during the first year (maybe 5%) and then slows thereafter. I would not put too much stock in the mileage estimate and display percent SOC. I've also read that it is helpful to do occasional 100% charges to equilibrate the...

Model 3 - LR AWD Waiting Room

2019 Tesla Model 3 LR lease ending in June. Considered a bunch of other options: Lucid Air, BMW I4 M50, Audi Q4 e tron. When all was said and done, I came back to another Model 3 LR, midnight sliver, 18 inch aeros, white interior, AP. Delivery predicted for May, but they will coordinate a...

Some quick thoughts on the ID.3

I don't believe this. With Audi having multiple E-tron models coming and the ID.4 being released early 2021, I'd say they're all in with EVs. Plus, they've built the EA network.

Some quick thoughts on the ID.3

Kyle Connor from Out of Spec had nothing but good things to say about the ID.4, which is what we'll get in the U.S. Once VW/Audi sorts out their software/app issues, they'll have compelling alternatives. Tesla still has the advantage on battery tech, range and the Supercharger network is still...

    Tesla vs Polestar

It's going to be a while before anyone can match the efficiency, charging speed and the convenience of the Supercharger network. The V3 chargers are awesome! The latest Model 3 updates are going to make it even more efficient. Don't forget the upcoming battery advances.

Is it possible to "measure" how much power is used to charge my Tesla in the garage for tax purposes

I have a JuiceBox 40 which provides data on how much energy is provided per charging session and total. That may help you.

    Supercharger Upgrades I95

Just traveled I95 thru CT. Stopped at V3 Supercharger in Madison, CT. Worked great! Hit 250 kW, which was amazing to see. Also, stopped at V3 Supercharger in Bensalem, PA, also hit 250 kW. It's nice that they install more than 4 Superchargers at these V3s. It sucks sharing a V2 and only...

You are correct about EVSE installation tax credit.

    EVSE Tax Credit

Just wanted to make relatively recent new Tesla owners aware of the tax credit for the cost of installation of an EVSE for your Tesla. Teslas bought between 6/30/19 and 12/31/19 qualify for 25% of the cost of installation, 50% between 12/31/18 and 6/31/19 and 100% before 1/1/19. Don't miss...

Model 3 100 kWh battery and Ludicrous Mode [speculation about future developments]

It seems that there is a practical limit to how much energy you can store. If they can develop a 200 kWh battery, it would take about a day to completely recharge on a typical home level 2 charger (at 9 kW). I agree that continued optimizing efficiency is critical.

    Supercharger Upgrades I95

They are putting V3s in Madison, CT on I95. I'm not sure if they are up and running yet. They've been working on them for months. I'll see if it shows up on my next trip. Charging my get so fast we may not have time to take a leak anymore!

Regenerative braking reduced message appeared while driving

You can minimized reduced regenerative breaking by having your car set to be charged and heated prior to your anticipated departure time. I usually set a charge limit of around 70%. If you charge close to 100%, there will be no regenerative braking. If you leave your car out in 10F...

Model 3 100 kWh battery and Ludicrous Mode [speculation about future developments]

Let’s hope they can increase energy density of the batteries rather than add more cells. They’ll need to do this to make the Semi viable.

    Supercharger Upgrades I95

Did a trip from Boston area to Philly. Cold and rainy most of the way, but averaged consumption in the 260 wh/mile range, so not too bad. Stopped at Darien, CT south rest stop for a charge. They have installed a bank of 14 new chargers and if I read correctly, they are rated at 250 kW! They...

    2016 Model S 34k

An electron is an electron. Supercharging versus plugging into a 110 V wall outlet won't make a difference. Many factors can affect battery performance significantly, including freezing and below temperatures, use of heater, tire pressure, frequent short trips, rapid acceleration, etc. On a...

    Do miles even matter anymore?

I have been displaying only percentage from the beginning. I know I'll get between 3-4 mile/%. I like to keep an eye on wh/mi on long trips. I know that if I' getting 241 wh/mi, I'm getting the rated range (310 miles/full charge).

How did I ever do a road trip before the Model 3?

I agree with your review. One advantage of of using the car's trip planner/Nav over ABRP is accounting for traffic. The other issue is that you want the car to know which supercharger you are headed to so that it can precondition before you get to it, maximizing your charging speed. The car...

    Tesla Disappoints Again...

I feel pretty lucky. The exact Model 3 I wanted was in stock locally, I put a deposit down and 2 days later it was mine. Went much quicker than expected. I wouldn't want to have a close deadline to meet, though.

Long Road Trips. My Experience and Why Tesla's are Currently Unfit.

What a nightmare for you and your family. Accidents happen and at least no one was hurt. Perhaps you'll laugh about it some day (well into the future). I've taken a couple long distance trips that went very smoothly in the Model 3. Once there was an accident (I wasn't involved:)) and the...

    FSD increasing by $1K 11/1/19

Just did my first "long distance" drive Boston to Philly on I95. Mostly a great experience. I have AP, not FSD. My review of AP is mixed, mostly favorable. There are situations where AP gets confused and applies the breaks unexpectedly. It seems to get confused by overpasses. I worry about...

    Winter Tire question

I always get my wheel sets from TireRack. I went with Continental VikingContact 7 235/45R18 on anthracite alloy wheels Sport Edition P2. They are delivered mounted, balanced and I got them with pressure sensors. About $1600 - $130 in rebates. There are more options for Model 3s now. Pirelli...

    Performance Waiting Room

I was one of the recent Model 3 buyers that helped Tesla with their record sales. The exact configuration I wanted (LR, AWD, blue, white interior) was at my local dealer and it was delivered 2 days later. Very smooth process. Remarkable car. Zero issues so far. Was set to get an e-tron, but...
