Beta Testers Wanted: iOS Sentry Mode viewer

Hey! We’re super close to release now. Development stopped for a while due to other commitments. If you DM me I’d be happy to add you to the current beta.

    Common as muck

Someone round the corner from us just got their Model 3 the other day, and I’ve seen another one in our town too. Definitely becoming more common!

    Console wraps

I ordered the console wrap and some replacement boot LEDs. Arrived without any duty or fees to pay.

Beta Testers Wanted: iOS Sentry Mode viewer

I can see a handful of DMs in my inbox, so thanks everyone! I'll take a look tonight. Anyone else who'd like to test, just drop me a DM as above.

Beta Testers Wanted: iOS Sentry Mode viewer

Hopefully they will build in something natively, though it doesn’t seem to be coming in V10. Native management of clips would be great! Easy to get a USB lightning adapter. Anyone who has connected a camera to their phone will likely already have one, but admittedly it is a pre-requisite for...

    Model 3 Invoice

I used the invoice number and had no problems at all. Given those are the instructions printed on the invoice you're paying, I felt safer doing that rather than listening to the dude on the phone. That said, I believe others here used the order number and this worked just as well too.

Beta Testers Wanted: iOS Sentry Mode viewer

macOS app with Catalyst is on the to-do list, for sure. ;) We use a USB-C / USB-A double-headed drive in the car, so I can plug that directly into the iPad Pro. We also have an Apple Camera Connector Kit which lets us plug in the USB-A end to our lightning iOS devices. Works well!

Beta Testers Wanted: iOS Sentry Mode viewer

Argh, I'm now too late to edit, but if you could also include your email address in the DM that would be fab - I'll need that to send you the TestFlight invitation and invite you to Slack.

Beta Testers Wanted: iOS Sentry Mode viewer

First, I hope this post isn't against some rule. If it is, please let me know and I'll remove it. My husband and I have been working on an iOS app to view TeslaCam footage from any USB storage device. This makes use of the new capabilities in iOS 13. We've got something that pretty much...

    Body Shop Nicked the Badge

It was the service centre who noticed the issue on collection. They logged it, and someone called by within a couple hours to arrange the repair. Very good service on the whole. I had already been emailing back and forth about the paint repair with someone at the SC, so I just dropped her...

    Body Shop Nicked the Badge

Our car was in for about a week in total. We had a 2016 (pre-facelift) Model S 75D. It was fine. Not as nippy as our Model 3 and the interior nowhere near as nice. Shows how far Tesla have come. Still a lovely car to drive though.

    Body Shop Nicked the Badge

You may remember my previous post about the collection where I mentioned a small nick in the bonnet meant our new Model 3 was being booked in for a bonnet respray a few weeks after collection. Well, we got the car back last week and generally very happy. I can't notice a difference in paint...

    Road tax

I had a panic after a few days as I hadn't done anything. Checked DVLA and the car was 'taxed', so Tesla sorted this out before handover. Nothing you should need to do.
  14. dst87

    Model 3 Key Fob

That's correct - it does not have the proximity unlock, but you'll be able to do that with your iPhone or Android device. The main thing that appeals to me about the key fob is easy access to trunk, frunk, and charge port opening. Oh, and it looks super cool! Not sure it's worth the money though..

New member, looking to buy a Model 3

Welcome aboard, @Jeremy Harris :) As others have mentioned, you'll still get stung with the high VED even on the SR+ model. I think that has put a few people off and I wonder if Tesla intended for it to be below the limit but screwed up the arithmetic somewhere. If you can make it into a...

    Model 3 Key Fob

Oh great! Well what a waste of time that was then. This seems like a no-brainer. The margins on those things must be huge and it can’t be hard to ship them over.

Plenty of room for more EV's on the road - VW to officially launch ID.3 this evening

I'm really excited to see what VW offer. It's the only company that seems to be considering the tech-forward approach that I love Tesla for. Software updates for the long-term, etc. Obviously we're delighted with our TM3 but it's great to see more choice entering the market. I think this...

Is your best friend a 3 pin plug?

We currently only have access to a 3 pin socket, and charging the Model 3 at about 9 miles per hour. It’s definitely fast enough for our day to day, and we really haven’t noticed any concerns about range whatsoever. The 7kW charger we get in October will make edge cases easier to deal with...

    Model 3 Key Fob

Has anyone considered getting the Key Fob for their Model 3? I’m quite comfortable with the phone key and keycard backup, but I quite like the thing as an object in itself. Plus, the ability to easily open the frunk and charge port would be nice. So... is this on your radar?

As Model 3 deliveries ramp up, are you worried about charger queuing?

I was impressed to see all 12 stalls at the Perth supercharger upgraded to CCS, as well as the site supporting 150kW charging. Very nice!

    Thoughts on Sentry Mode

We’ve disabled it at home, as we have CCTV covering the drive anyway and don’t see much point. We have it on while out and about though, and we’ve also had a lot of activations with folks walking past etc. It seems to keep ~7 - 8 minutes before the triggering event in the 10 minute saved...

    trade in value at Tesla

We had a great experience with WBAC. The guy was very honest about the slightly ridiculous stone chips (there were two, which lost us about £1,000 total from the online price) and the 3 wheels which needed attention. It was very transparent and easy though, and they were honestly a pleasure to...

Model 3 - Upgrade to FSD AFTER Purchase

@ivangr So you haven’t taken delivery yet? I think OP was possibly trying to find out how to add FSD to a car after taking delivery rather than just amending an order before delivery.
  24. dst87

Model 3 - Upgrade to FSD AFTER Purchase

I also do not see this option. We don’t want to upgrade now but might in the future. I’d love to know the answer when you find out!
  25. dst87

What pleases you and annoys you most about your 3?

That’s interesting. I already pre-emptively purchased the vinyl so it was ready to be applied before we even got the car. I’ve had piano black in previous cars and I find it to be a dust, fingerprint, and scratch magnet. Sure enough, after about 30 minutes of having the Model 3, the little...

    Best home charger

    Interesting, thanks!
  27. dst87

    Console wraps

Oh my! That's insane! It sounds like they're just pricing themselves out of the job. Given how straightforward the DIY job it, I can't see any reason to pay that sort of money.
  28. dst87

    Best home charger

We were in the same board - Andersen seemed like the only compelling choice aesthetically. The I'd guess that if your installation location supports it, you could drill though into the back of the unit. Sadly, our charger is in a location that won't support such a cable run, though it's in a...

Vendor LUXURY RHD Model 3 Floor Mats NOW AVAILABLE (I finally pulled my finger out!_

I’m glad you’ve gone to the effort. It’s hard to tell how different these are to the default mats. Any idea what the weight of the material is? I previously ordered 1300gsm mats and they were just wonderful. So comfortable and deep. Great for passengers to sink your feed into on a longer...
  30. dst87

    Best home charger

Very nice! We're still waiting until October for our Andersen to be installed so it's nice to see some photos. How do you find taking out and replacing the charger? It's not too much of a PITA? Do you use the app to lock the lid, and does the app work nicely? I do have the app downloaded...

What pleases you and annoys you most about your 3?

One of the things I LOVE about this car is that my music is playing as soon as I open the door, and it doesn't stop playing until I walk away from the car. I also love that, above a certain volume, the volume lowers a little when you open the door. Very nice touch. Personally I don't use the...

Green Number Plates for Zero Emission Vehicles

I haven't heard of this, but I'm sure other countries have some similar scheme where LEVs/ZEVs are marked in some way. If it's a different coloured plate, or some sort of logo on the plate, I'd be OK with that. Some US states have a sticker which gets applied to the front corner of the car...
  33. dst87

    Console wraps

Your vehicle was shipped from the US, so the additional footprint of shipping a few grams of vinyl isn’t going to matter too much. You also have to consider - the wraps are made of 3M 1080 vinyl. Where is that manufactured? Unless 3M have UK manufacturing for this then the transport carbon is...
  34. dst87

    Console wraps

To give you some context I really badly misaligned the middle section, but didn't realise until after I'd used the little spatula thing to really smooth it out and attach it firmly. I was able (with some force) to peel it all off again and the vinyl looked awful - it was a little stretched and...

Vendor I am considering making UK/RHD Model 3 carpets/floor mats. Interested?

I might be interested in these still, but I'd be curious to hear a side-by-side review / comparison with the mats that come standard on the Model 3 premium interior. They're OK, but I do like the idea of something super plush!
  36. dst87

    Console wraps

Sounds great! You'll love it when it arrives I'm sure. I think the Carbon Fibre might be the most forgiving. The colour is close enough that if there's a sliver of piano black on an edge it's much less noticeable. I'm in love with the red though. Just stunning! The Edinburgh Festival is...

£50K zero percent loan in Scotland

I applied on July 1st. Process was fine. Not much communication, and nothing happened until about the 14th working day - bear that in mind. It’s 15 working day, not 15 days. You’ll be waiting 3 weeks for a reply. You should include the order confirmation which will have the full price. The...

    The M3 Photo Thread

Red with the white interior is just stunning @Roy W. Very nice indeed. I’d have opted for white but I know I’m too lazy to keep it clean and I was worried about jeans staining it. Everyone says it’s super easy to clean though so I may have made the wrong choice. Absolutely perfect...

UMC granny charging speed - 3 pin plug

I've also been fairly happy with the charge speed using the home charger. It's kept us topped up every night without any trouble, though we haven't done any crazy long drives since getting the car. I'll still be glad to get our Andersen charger installed, as we won't have to open the garage...
  40. dst87

As Model 3 deliveries ramp up, are you worried about charger queuing?

Not really. I'll use Supercharges a handful of times per year, and there's no queue for the charger in my driveway. Joking aside, it could be a problem is the numbers of chargers don't expand. Even if I only need one a couple of times a year, I do need them to be available then and the...

    Heathrow pick up

Wow - 28% is really poor. Is this the norm for Heathrow SC? BP seems like a good option though (especially if it's free for some reason!). Good to see more chargers being deployed, even if they're a little more expensive. 99% of the time I'll be charging at home anyway so, much like paying...
  42. dst87

    Console wraps

I didn’t find it too bad. It takes a bit of patience. If you get easily frustrated by fiddly tasks then I can see it being rage-inducing but the material is very forgiving and you’ve got many many chances to adjust and try again. I chose the carbon fibre mainly because of how forgiving it is...

Charging at Scotland's FIRST Ultra charger

I just realised that I used kW instead of kWh here. Please don't crucify me. It's too late to edit my post, apparently.
  44. dst87

    Console wraps

Haha, thanks! I'm happy with the results in any case and I suppose that's all that matters really. Though I'm annoyed that I didn't vacuum the passenger footwell and take that damn hair off the centre console before taking the photos.:rolleyes:
  45. dst87

    Console wraps

I also installed mine myself. Got the carbon fibre one from Abstract Ocean and it was relatively easy to fit and looks great. Installed on the day of collection. They use the 3M 1080 vinyl which is supposedly the best product for the job (though I'm not an expert). Easy, fast shipping from...

    Our Group Collection at Edinburgh

I mean, I'd assume they'll send it to a competent body shop who actually know what they're doing. If they don't, I won't be happy. For reference, I didn't request this service - they just booked it because of the damage they caused. I could certainly ask them about an isolated touch-up...
  47. dst87

    Our Group Collection at Edinburgh

Yes, I agree with that. I don't actually mind the look of them from afar, but certainly up close they look and feel a bit naff. The vinyl stick-on ones are definitely still in consideration for me...

    Receipts for Payments

It would be nice if I got an updated final invoice showing “paid in full”. I suppose it doesn’t matter too much as they gave me the car, but still... o_O
  49. dst87

Charging at Scotland's FIRST Ultra charger

I think these charger cost £8 per charge right now. I think if you were doing a fairly full charge it would be cheaper than Supercharging, and faster if using a Model 3. Supercharger is 24p per kW so you only need 34 kW for the Ionity to be cheaper.
