    Model 3 requiring MOT soon

Unfortunate position!? Having had 3 years worth of Tesla fun is not being in an "unfortunate position". 😂🤣

    Model 3 requiring MOT soon

Well my M3 had it's MOT today at Lavender Motors in Haywards Heath West Sussex, and all was good. The Bradbury 3 Tonne lift had suitable extending arms (extending from the centreline out towards the sills) with rubber pads that could be placed under the jacking points. The technician referred to...

    Model 3 requiring MOT soon

It's more a question of the MOT tester knowing how to do things - how to test the electronic parking brake, how to lift the car up, how to lift the wiper blades, how to put the car into towing mode etc

    Model 3 requiring MOT soon

I was one of the lucky ones who received by model 3 in August 2019, at that time seeing another model 3 on the road was a very rare sight. Anyway it is coming up to the time for it's first MOT. I understand that Tesla do not do MOTs, so the advice is to take it to a garage your trust. What...

    Powerwall operation problems

I've had a reply from our installer - We have followed up with Tesla regarding the issues that we have both experienced and have received the following, hopefully UK Power Networks will get the grid stabilised again soon. Tesla support provided this - So it appears the Powerwall was doing...

    Powerwall operation problems

Anybody else suffering from false power outages, where the Powerwall goes into backup mode for a few minutes and then recovers? It started about 10 days ago, after over a month of happy operation following the installation. Yesterday I had over 50 event, and today at 11:40 I've already had 20...

    Octopus Tesla and Powerwall

I'm on Octopus go at present, for night time M3 charging, with solar panels recently installed and a powerwall arriving soon. I'm thinking I'll be able to set the system to charge the powerwall during the 12:30 to 4:30am cheap slot, and then use the powerwall to supply the home during low solar...

    fan running

I've wondered the same. Been out to supermarket and back (2 mile round trip), get out of car and close doors and the fan starts up. Open the doors and the fan stops. Strange.

    Using UMC charger only

I've been using simple 3 pin plug charging for over a year now. I do less than 200 miles per week, and it all works fine. I don't think we low mileage folk need the extra expense of a 7kW charger. I did buy a high quality 13amp extension lead as the UMC would not reach my nearest 13amp socket...

    Octopus Tesla Energy Plan

With solar and powerwall on Optopus agile is it a manual process to import when energy prices are low / negative, and export when you can make a profit? I can not imagine that the powerwall will know when the agile tariff is negative.

I've just received the same delay info - Thanks for your patience here, we realise it has been sometime without an update. Always good if there are incentives. I can not find any at present, I just need to watch out for some future incentive to help ease the pain.

    Powerwall and Octopus Go experience?

I assume the solar / powerwall system is also capable of exporting to the grid at peak times as a source of income. Charge at night with cheap electricity, charge some more with solar during the day, then sell some power to the grid during the evening peak. Am I correct in thinking that the...

    Powerwall and Octopus Go experience?

@Mark77a thanks for confirmation. Looks like a good system. Have you ever tried to work out the payback period? I assume it is more than a couple of decades, but good to know you are doing the right thing for the environment and a bit of techno fun too.

    Powerwall and Octopus Go experience?

Thanks @Mark77a, very helpful. As I'm a newbie to this powerwall business I've annotated your graphs. Have I got it correct? Between about noon and 3pm a 3kW load appears, is this an immersion heater switching on when solar is above 3kW to heat your water? Can you tell me how many kW your solar...

If you have solar PV and a Tesla Powerwall can you charge the Powerwall from Solar PV during the day AND charge it using cheap night time electricity? Tesla model 3 puncture - tyre replacement

I repaired one of my rear tyres with a similar plug kit after taking a screw out of the tyre. That was back in February 2020, and I've been up and down to Yorkshire from Sussex twice since then. The fix is not perfect, every couple of weeks I loose one or two PSI. There are many stories of...

How does fixing issues work? Is there a cost?

My 3 is just over one year old, I reported a door rattle (glass in passenger door, when window down), and asked for the windscreen water ingress to electrical harness be checked and any necessary sealing correction done. Well that year went quickly. I'm a bit surprised about my battery status. Each day I record battery range and percent and calculate max range. For the first few months it stayed around 310 miles, then dipped down to 295, but has since been creeping back up, currently around 305 miles. My...

Range loss due to auto cooling when parked in sun

Long range AWD if it makes any difference. Between 00:30 Saturday and 00:30 Sunday I lost 18 miles range (battery range dropped from 44% to 38%) and I drove zero miles during that period. Sentry off, car in my drive. I did hear the fan stop various times, but it then started 5 seconds later...

There may be trouble ahead... new AP and FSD limitations

60 kph limit on roads equipped with a physical separation dividing traffic moving in opposite directions, where pedestrians and cyclists are prohibited. Hard to see where you could use such a system. Sounds like it has to be on a motorway or dual carriageway, and you are limited to 37mph. Useless!

Home Charge Points Discussion and Suggestions [megathread]

I can do 150 miles one day, then charge up over the next few days. I could even do 250 miles one day - it is after all a 300 mile battery (at least in the summer) :) When I travel long distance I only need enough to get me to a supercharger. 13amp socket home charging works well for me.
  41. ElectricJoules

Home Charge Points Discussion and Suggestions [megathread]

Your other thought should be "Do I need a charger". I've been using 13amp socket for over 10 months, easily sufficient for most people. 10hrs overnight charge can add 80 miles, so if you do less than 550 miles per week it is all you need.

Multiple system failure / Wiring Harness Recall

Thanks @AmPiste, that's the best fix I've seen or heard about. Some previous fixes only seemed to refer to sealing the top electrical plug and reseating the windscreen lower trim. Was it done by a mobile Tesla technician, or Service Centre? What area are you in? I'd like a fix just like that.

Tesla 3 close window button location

I like this method, it works on several of the windows that pop up. I swipe down vaguely in the centre of the pop up window. Quick and easy to do, no need for a careful press in just the right place.

    Charger Poll

Me too. Doing less than 200 miles per week it's easy to get by with a 13 amp plug, and as LK06 says you can use the button to open the charge port :)

Thinking of buying a M3P or a classic Mercedes

I purchased my M3 with FSD, I often keep cars for a decade or more. I can already see that it makes long journeys so much more relaxing in the M3, and there's a lot more to come. If you only intend to keep a Tesla for a couple of years I'd not buy the FSD, it does not give you that much more...

Thinking of buying a M3P or a classic Mercedes

I had a 1998 Mercedes SL500 which I sold to switch to the Tesla AWD LR M3. The Mercedes was a beautiful bit of engineering, that I loved to drive. Is my wheel arch paint normal?

Yes, those strips look like a good solution. But looking at various reviews it seems the product is often very difficult to fit on a curved surface, or is just poor quality and just does not stick. Lots of unbranded Chinese PPF out there. Has anybody gone down this DIY route with good results...
