Electric vehicles release more toxic emissions, are worse for the environment than gas-powered cars: study

One thing that people miss is that an EV built today gets cleaner over time as the grid gets cleaner while IcE cars just get dirtier as they age. Also the batteries can be reused for stationary storage and then recycled. Unlike small batteries, no one is going to throw away a large EV battery

Las Vegas to Grand Canyon - ABRP vs Tesla Trip Planner

One thing to note is that going from Kingman to the GC, you gain like 3000 feet so takes more juice than you would think at first.

    Electric new sales S-Curve

True but if and when EV cost less to purchase than ICE, the transition will happen in most parts of US. Will take longer for big pickups due to battery costs.

How much super charging is considered too much for good battery health

I don’t think it is dependent on how many times a day since battery is liquid cooled. The Nissan Leaf had problems with this as is air cooled so the second time the battery was getting hot and so slowed charge rate. There are lots of Ride Share drivers using Tesla’s and charge several times a...

Driving in a hilly city like SF or Seattle?

Works fantastic on hills. I live at the top of a long hill and I can go down the whole way just adjusting the accelerator and using regen and not the brakes. With my ice car, it keeps trying to run away from you as you have to repeatedly apply the brakes but can’t just leave them on or will...

My Model Y battery loses 2 % each day while it sits in garage, Sentry & Climate are off, what gives ?

After charging in my garage, the charge % can change by a % or two, maybe due to temperature or calibration. However when I go to the airport I leave my MY in my brothers garage with Sentry mode off and will only loose 1 or 2 % in 10 days.

[UK] What we already knew - EV misinformation in press - it’s not gone unnoticed

I bought an EGO battery mower and works great. I used to dread trying to start the gas mower the first time in the Spring.

Model y lfp battery charging habits

The reason to charge an LFP battery to 100% once a week is to allow the Battery Management System to recalibrate. LFP batteries have a more non-linear voltage vs charge curve so harder to determine the battery capacity compared to Nickel li-ion. At the same time, LFP batteries have less...

    Preparing home for Tesla vehicles

Yeah, I used an installer from the Tesla certified list and while they did a good job replacing my substandard circuit panel, they put the TWC on a GFCI breaker which caused problems tripping / was not necessary as it turns out the TWC has GFCI built in. Otherwise the TWC has been working great...

While cars froze in Chicago, I used hotel charging for a trouble-free 2-week road trip in snowy Utah without superchargers

Hotel charging is awesome. I usually plan my trip by finding hotels on Plug Share ap. Only issue is there are often only one or two at a location. Hoping a lot more are built.

Prediction, in Which Year Will New Electric Vehicle Sales Exceed 50% in the United States "Poll"

I generally like PBS reporting but they mention GM slowing but 0 mention of the largest EV maker Tesla and alluded to better charging infrastructure needed but no mention of Tesla SC opening up to other makers and NACS.

    How will Tesla Semi supercharge?

Semi batteries are much bigger so at the cell level, where it counts, a 1MW charger is not harder on batteries than a car at sub 250kW.

    Shorting Oil, Hedging Tesla

The mix of renewables depends on the region you are in. Some places just don’t have viable solar in the winter so wind and transmission lines to other regions may be needed.

First-time Model Y LR home charging woes - Advice needed! (Ceiling outlets & low amp woes)

The car detects the temperature of the mobile connector as a safety measure as a lot of cheap outlets can overheat and cause a fire. Using an extension cord defeats this so not a good long term solution. Also, I would use as short of an extension cord as possible as will have less voltage drop...

Wiki Largest gaps between Superchargers on US Interstates

So I log into my account to vote in 2024 1st qtr, and a lot of the western US locations I voted for last cycle are no longer shown, including Segleman. Does this mean they are now in the works or what? None of them are shown in the Tesla find me map (although that map is rarely accurate or...

Wiki Largest gaps between Superchargers on US Interstates

And going East from Kingman to Flagstaff or GC, there is -3000’ elevation gain to make matters worse. This stretch should be covered by the new Federal charger funding which has goal of 50 mile between chargers. Maybe Tesla has just been waiting on this and V4.

First charge curve data I've seen.

If the CT splits the battery pack in half for 400v charging, you would think that at the SC 250kW output, each half would see 125kW and thus have a flatter curve for longer? Sounds like even though was a V3 charger, the site was full so could still be power sharing. Look forward to seeing a more...

Buying used Model Y. Will buying 2021 for Ultra Sonic Sensors help?

I have USS sensors on 2021 model Y but not very useful for parking depending on your situation. I park where there is a curb, a sidewalk, and then a low retaining wall. The USS seems to bounce off the retaining wall so will tell me I have 36” to go but my front tires are only a few inches from...

    wipers stopped working on auto

That’s because they are using a rain sensor while Tesla trying to use the cameras. Tesla auto wipers used to work ok but now seem to be disabled. I use voice commands or stalk button. I’ve heard you can adjust the speed with the left steering wheel button by clicking left or right.

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

New EV owner: how do you prepare for unusual situations?

I have started carrying a bottle of glass cleaner and wipes to clean windshield and camera’s as usually not available at SC. Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

I’m scared to drive my new Tesla in the winter

Just looked at my 2021 Model Y AWD with 19” tires. They say M +S so All Season. Looked at some YouTube videos and they say to put it in Off-road mode when on snow...

Sentry Mode not draining the battery?

I loose about 5% a day with sentry mode on. I think if it gets down to 20% charge left it stops doing sentry mode. With sentry mode off I will loose only about 2% over 10 days.

I think a lot of Toyota’s best engineering who built the company have retired. My son has a 2021 RAV4 Prime plug in and he got a recall letter in July saying there have been fires in the DC to DC converter and not to charge it in weather colder than 41F. Was supposed to have a fix by 4th qtr...

Towns denying Business to go with all electric vehicles

Quite slanted article, drops in the term “clean diesel” which has been debunked after VW gate. With the grid, the main thing is that it has to support the peak load, usually early evening. So if you can charge at night, actually improves costs by increasing grid utilization. Bigger problem is...
