Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

First, I said the opposite of the implication that Tesla should provide FSD for free. Second, some apparently "free" safety features are the police, fire, and military services, fluoridated drinking water, vaccinations, traffic control devices and structures. There are many services that the...

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

Another way that governments get their money is by reducing costs. At the high cost of a motor accident, governments might find they actually save money by buying FSD safety features for everyone. As for all taxpayers being angry at Tesla owners, well, they might be angry at the government but...

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

There was nothing in the original post that suggested that Tesla should *give* away their system. In the interest of public safety and economic value, governments could pay Tesla for the FSD safety features for everyone. How much should a state or national government pay Tesla for this?

Thank you for the reply. I agree with you. I wonder if the input date to the FSD trainer includes the location of the driving being analyzed, and a geopolitical map of N. America. In this case the output code could cause behaviour that varies depending on location.

I disagree that the experience might be worsened in one of the places. The samples from both cities might include local information that makes the driving better in both places, using the local information.

If the agreement between Musk and the Board was arrived at improperly, then a better remedy than rescinding the contract so long after its terms were carried out would have been to require Musk and the Board members to pay damages to the shareholders according to the amount of damage done to...

    Western Canada Superchargers

I thought you were subtly suggesting that I make a YouTube video on a future road trip north of Winnipeg! I just checked the Plugshare map and there are many more level 2 chargers than there used to be, so the situation has improved. Still however I estimate that 3/4 of the parts of Manitoba...

    Western Canada Superchargers

I want to point out something I've posted about before: it's not possible to drive a Tesla north of Winnipeg in MB. No chargers (almost), let alone superchargers. I expect the situation is very similar in SK and AB. As things are I have to warn potential Tesla buyers, don't buy one if you...

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

This post generates several ideas to me. First, I suppose that Tesla uses the primitive bank tool of wire transfers because of the laggard state of the American banking system. Developed from many separate, and legally required to be separate, local banks, for many years interbank operation in...

You missed the point. When you take a robotaxi by yourself, your time is your own to use as you choose. This differs from having to spend your time chatting with friends, with whom you apparently don't want to be.

    HW4 & HW5 Discussion

Since the Neural Network is trained by watching videos of good human driving, how will Tesla keep it current when there are no human drivers left, only FSD cars?

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

The cybertruck launch will be a big deal for TSLA, but in my view the beginning of distribution is not the key moment for investment effects. That key moment occurs with the release of the specs for the trucks, and the selling prices. At that point we can estimate the degree of success expected.

    Brexit

I think it's actually a good idea. Sometimes I consider crossing the pond accompanied by a person of doubtful reputation (I know 1 or 2), and I wonder what if he/she gets rejected at the UK immigration counter. Having obtained this sort of cheap quick visa in advance would allay my concerns.

I share some of your apprehension about the effectiveness of this government support, but mostly I am relieved that they aren't supporting those companies to make vehicles. Even if those firms fail as car manufacturers, the battery factories may contine to operate and employ people.

I disagree. Reduced ICE vehicle availability will be more than compensated for by the developed preference for EVs. As the general superiority of EVs become apparent, used ICE prices will fall. People will hold onto their old ICE vehicles, and, yes, repair them.

Wow, Chris Grey really pulled his gloves off for this line from his latest blog installment: "even now, there are still plenty of saddle-sniffers like David Frost to ..." I don't know what Frost has done to deserve that bit of vitriol, but I found it hilarious. I always enjoy Grey's writing...

I disagree with the generally expressed view on FSD success in India: I think the chances of FSD success there are stronger than many people estimate. Yes, the traffic there can be horrendous and uncontrolled, but so long as your car doesn't hit someone else's car unintentionally, you're ok...

I know the difference and I don't see any mistakes. 1. England voted for Brexit. Scotland and Northern Ireland didn't. 2. The only British car factories I know of are in England. 3. So is paying extra to buy a RHD car, which pretty much has to come from England now, instead of a Berlin Tesla or other continental car. I think it's at least time to investigate the cost and benefits of making a switch. I don't know how much road infrastructure there is in Ireland. It's...

When do we get some new colors?

My suggestion isn't a new color but related: make available a large transparent decal with the Cybertruck logo on it, looking like etched steel, to go to on the side of the truck. Also with "Made in Texas" for any sold there.
