EVs unsuitable for use as pursuit cars, apparently

None. They put pictures in the Daily Mail *spit* of i3’s. You should see the comment section. It’s a *sugar* show of ignorance, stupidity and hatred of change. I am shocked to hear how lawless things are in England however. All these long distance high speed pursuits... shocking really. You...

    FSD Feature Complete

strange. i have the odd bit of phantom braking in a particular spot. it doesn’t do it if cars are behind me. sometimes i don’t like how it takes off ramps with two lanes on the offramp. everything else is fine. i’m on the a9, a90 and m90 a lot and it makes life so much easier. i had to drive...

    FSD Feature Complete

yeah the only way i can understand these criticism is by accepting people use it where it’s not meant to be used. I use NoA every day on the motorways. It’s made my commute a joy. I also do long journeys with it and it works perfectly. I’m glad I paid the £5800 now rather than having to later.

    FSD Feature Complete

The fact the car can change lane itself and go off the motorway itself has been enough for me to justify paying for FSD now. I know it's not much but I feel safer when it changes lanes for me. I think it's also a lot to do with personality. I want to be the vanguard that gets the new little...

Technically 20 meters. The release notes say a max 20 meter travelling distance but you must be within 6 meters of the car to activate it.

    2019.40.50.1 installing

you're saying that as a fact. where does it say the UK is not an approved location? I've seen people from various countries in Europe tweet saying it's not working. Seems like a broken implementation that needs a software update again.

FSD HW3 model3'er here. Tried summon in 3 car parks. NHS, Retail Park and work. It does not work. No FSD visualisation. I suspect another release by the end of the year. Remember we were told we'd get driving in cities. So I think they'll chuck everyone some FSD visualisation and then say...

    Any lawyers around?

this is totally true. in my industry we sometimes offer customers “free” additional services however we still charge them £1 for it to make sure it’s in a binding agreement and cannot be disputed.

Evolt Tri Rapids seem to with work Model 3’s now

My model 3 has never really worked on CCS Evolt Tri Rapid chargers. I heard a rumour that the model S’ started charging on the Evolt since the last update. Lo and behold my Model 3 is tonight charging on an Evolt TR. A wonderful Christmas gift.

My ongoing Model 3 troubles since day one!

On my delivery day... Two doors on my new model3 was misaligned. The front bumper was slightly misaligned too. I didn’t sit in the car and pointed out all the issue first. They kindly took the car straight to the workshop and fixed all of it in no time. Maybe 30 minutes? Other cars had...

    V3 Supercharger Rollout

having said that Edinburgh Council has committed to building 25 stalls at Ingliston park and ride next year. 3 of which i think will be “rapid”. I’ve been going to IPR when the tesla chargers at the airport are blocked.

    V3 Supercharger Rollout

The same red model S with plate *CTO* is in there all the time. Never seen the driver. It’s really just a capacity issue. I don’t blame the s/x hogs, they got it for free so whatever. But Tesla is selling like hot cakes up here, they need to build a proper charging centre in edinburgh. I see...

    M3 Running costs

4000 miles and probably in the region of £80 in electricity. a mix of free scottish charging, 5p kwh octopus at night and occasional supercharging on long trips. (spent about £40 on supercharging in total) so i’m getting it at about 2p/mile

Comparing Electricity price plans -- there's not as much in it as you think

I’m on GO and we really try to make the most of it. We run the dishwasher, washing machine, tumble dryer and the car on a schedule to start at 00:30. My car finishes charging in the 4 hours just fine. I did the XLS maths on Agile too. It seemed there weren’t that many low cost events and on...

Are smart charge points worth having?

On the point of overspending I agree. As I’m resident in Scotland the total grant amount I get is £800. A Podpoint cost £859. I use the car’s charge scheduling. It works fine. So in all, it cost me £59.

Puffy rattle sound at driver side window

Hi Has anyone had a problem with a puffy rattle sound by the driver-side window while driving. I’ve had the car into the service centre. They applied some kind of oil or cream or something to help. It did help but the noise is coming back again and it’s doing my head in. The noise is right...

    Road trip experience with chargeplacescotland

eh no. CPS has limited their buildouts to 50kw chargers. the higher rates are being left for the commercial sector. there is plenty space there to compete. >The other issue with free chargers is that people will abuse them i.e, use them instead of charging at home so they will not be available...

    Has anyone returned their Tesla?

Regarding degradation, I've read that in the first 100k miles you can expect 2% degradation which will be the largest degradation jump. After that it apparently doesn't degrade at that rate. You can search twitter for people talking about their experience pushing their model 3's over 100K...

    Scheduled charging restricted to 16A

That's a very useful bit of information. My charger seems to fluctuate constantly by a few volts. It's not inconceivable it went out of bounds. I've probably seen it do this a couple of times the last month during normal charges as well.

    Scheduled charging restricted to 16A

first scheduled charge tonight. woke up at 2am. checked it and it was running at 16-18 amps. went outside and pushed the amps higher on the mcu display. it then picked up and went to max. not sure if this is an issue because it’s the first time i’m scheduled charging i’m on 2.1

    Model 3 SR+ Owner Thoughts?

I'm a month in. It's a great car. Nothing to worry about. I'm glad I didn't go for a bigger model, this one is plenty. Range is significantly different in real life die to various factors but it's not an issue as charging here and there becomes a lifestyle thing.

Petition to unlock full Autopilot in EU

I wholeheartedly disagree. I use NoA every day driving from home to work. It's a joy. Most of my journey is on the motorway. It handles lane changes and exits really well and autosteer handles queuing/slow traffic perfectly.

Frequent 50KW DC charging and the Model3

Frequent 50KW DC charging and the Model3

I've not prevented anyone from getting the charge they need. We are reasonably well stocked where I live, there are lots of rapid chargers around my town. I would think the issue really is that you need more charging facilities built or you need to limit time at the chargers. I'm happy with a...

Frequent 50KW DC charging and the Model3

They are not based on similar technology and they are not the same. As I understand it the Leaf does not have liquid cooling. The Model 3 has a newer and more advanced liquid cooling setup than the Model S even.

Frequent 50KW DC charging and the Model3

Why do you say 50 kW has a large heating impact? Sources for that information? A Model 3 isn’t a Kona and it’s obviously not “pence” and a few “free Watts”.
  42. I

Frequent 50KW DC charging and the Model3

e good reply. I’ve rationalised things a bit. I would say most of my charging on 50kw’s is 21-34 kw. So, I think the “heat” impact should be minimal. It’s not exactly supercharger rates. And yes, in Scotland it’s free and we pay higher taxes than the rest of the country to afford stuff like...

Frequent 50KW DC charging and the Model3

My own research correlates with this. It seems that the Model 3 has liquid cooling for the batteries which will prolong their life. Apparently other manufacturers don't have this and it wrecks their batteries. Soooo. I think it's fine. I'll keep pumping in those free and fast electrons.

    Tyres on SR+. All weather?

Coming back to this. I had my first long drive in really bad rain yesterday. My SR+ with the Michelins they put on handled better than any car I've ever driven. (Better than Audi's, BMW's, Mercedes etc) I think the weight distribution on the model 3 makes it a far better all weather car. It...

Frequent 50KW DC charging and the Model3

We have quite a few 50KW chargers around my work and house. I typically pop out during my lunch break and stick it on a 50KW (21-48KW actual speed) charger and charge back up to 90%. Is this a bad idea? Will it damage the battery in the long run?

    SR+ Range

I've learned the following to help range: Pre-heat in the morning/while on charge Turn the heater down, turn the seat heaters on - the seat heaters are far less energy consuming. I actually prefer it this way to conventional heating. Set the regen braking to standard and start driving with 1...
