    Rolec EV Wallpod

No noise I can think of apart from the initial clunk as mentioned in a previous post. In regards to reliability, I had mine installed in Sep last year and had been working fine up until a month or so ago. Had it repaired a few weeks back as the rcbo kept tripping, worked ok for a week or so...

New Octopus Go tariff and off peak options?

I think you'll be fine, I'm aware of someone else doing it retrospectively.

    Does anyone wave anymore?

I've done roughly 1000 miles in my M3 and never had a wave so I'm guessing it's not a thing.

    Rolec rcbo Tripping

Evening, Just to provide an update, engineer visited and fitted a new mode 3 controller. All working up till last night until same problem occurred, now waiting on next steps. In the meantime, I'm charging using the 3 pin but having issues. The charging seems to start fine but randomly...

New Octopus Go tariff and off peak options?

Unfortunately it's not something they do. We had a faulty E7 meter (peak & off peak wrong way round) and the best advice they would give me was to switch services to one of the top 6. Instead I switched to Octopus and am now benefiting from 5 hours @ 0.055p so only 2 hours shy of what I had...

    Bubbling headrest

Funnily enough I was thinking about this on a drive home (was a very boring journey). For me, it's uncomfortable to rest my head on it as it involves arching my neck back and without being able to adjust the head rest (correct me if I'm wrong and you can) it must just be protection in an...

    Rolec rcbo Tripping

Update. My installer has contacted Rolec who have advised that it's more than likely the mode 3 controller that has failed - new part has been ordered and I should have an engineer out on Tuesday afternoon.

    Scheduled charging restricted to 16A

That's potentially great news! I just need a working charger to try myself but something to look forward to!

    Rolec rcbo Tripping

Unsure why but I was hopeful that on returning home all would be well, I was mistaken. The RCBO won't even reset now without switching off at the consumer unit but as soon as I switch back on it trips..definitely isn't a happy bunny. When damp is mentioned, is this damp in the RCBO or the...

    Rolec rcbo Tripping

Thanks for the feedback, is appreciated. I'll wait on the installer coming back to me and in the meantime use the UMC with a 13A socket and see how I get on. EDIT: It just occurred to me that at one point the RCBO tripped and the car wasn't even plugged in - guess that rules out the car being...

New Octopus Go tariff and off peak options?

Hi Seadog, welcome :) That's correct, it's the gen 2 meters (SMETS2) which allow switching between suppliers easier so you shouldn't have any trouble. Make sure you use a referral prior to switching as you'll get £50 (and the person whose referral you use). If you haven't got one already, let...

    Rolec rcbo Tripping

Afternoon, Plugged in the car to charge last night and realised that I had no power to the charger, turns out the rcbo had tripped. Reset and let it charge for 5 minutes and then manually stopped to allow the schedule to run overnight. Woke up this morning to find no charge and the rcbo had...

    Air Source Heat Pump

You're right, that is crazy! When I initially spoke to the guys fitting the charger they said themselves that more often than not it's done foc but I wasn't so lucky.

    Air Source Heat Pump

This is certainly something I'm looking into and recently been up in the loft to put down more insulation (300mm now). I've also had a new EPC done so I can then focus on other areas but with it being a 1900s build I think it's going to be something that is tackled over time.

    Air Source Heat Pump

True, progress can only be a good thing! That's interesting about the full load study - think it's definitely worth me exploring further.

    Air Source Heat Pump

Just reviving an old thread now I have an update. Managed to get a few quotes and the below worked out to be the most competitive; Building Requirements - Total Floor Area (m2) 137 - Heat loss W/m2 - 68 - Space Heating Load (kW) 9.7 - Space Heating (kWh/yr) 20358 - Hot Water Heating (kWh/yr)...

    Kids in Car

I too have young kids (1 & 4) and after 4 months of owning my Model 3 I've had no issues at all. I think rear seat protectors are a wise investment although yet to do so myself (if dirty shoes I just take them off!). What I do tend to do is put a towel underneath the car seats as they tend to...

Rolec smart charger quote, is it reasonable?

I had my Rolec installed in September and costed a total of £451. This was the tethered option and also factored in a colour change. Overall, very happy with the cost and the installation went without a hitch.

    Scheduled charging restricted to 16A

I've had a similar experience, my scheduled charge has been happily achieving 32A for over a week now and I've not changed anything that may cause this. Let's just hope that's the end of it!

    Scheduled charging restricted to 16A

I tried this earlier on in the week and it didn't work for me either. Since Wednesday though, I'm back to charging at 32A and haven't done anything out of the ordinary..

    Air Source Heat Pump

Thanks for this, is really useful. We live in a 1900s 4 bedroom farmhouse and being quoted for a 12 kw Nibe f2040. I must admit 40A seemed quite high but couldn't find any real info online. So would you suggest this being overkill based on your experience?
  28. C

    Air Source Heat Pump

That's charging at 32A. I appreciate the heat pump would add to the electric usage but 'should' be considerably less expensive than what I'm paying for oil and a lot cleaner. Good point on the a/c but isn't something I have.
  29. C

    Air Source Heat Pump

On average I'm charging 3 1/2 hours each night adding roughly 26 kWh. I could potentially reduce the charge speed but in doing so would likely run into my peak electric rate which I'd quite like to avoid.

Frustratingly I already had to fork out £500 for the last upgrade so hope they take pity on me!

    Air Source Heat Pump

Evening all, Appreciate this isn't Tesla related so forgive me but with you being such a helpful bunch I thought I'd try my luck. As part of me getting a charger for my Model 3 I had to upgrade my amperage from 60 amps to 80 amps. I did ask Western Power at the time if they could put in 100...

    Scheduled charging restricted to 16A

That's disappointing - think I'll raise a service request as well, even if it doesn't get noticed it'll make me feel better.

    Scheduled charging restricted to 16A

Thought I'd contact EV energy who are responsible for the app I use associated to the Rolec Charger. I got the following response; This is definitely an issue we are seeing reported more and more at the moment. It's interesting that you say other people have reported issues with different...

    Scheduled charging restricted to 16A

Morning all, hope you're well. Looks like I'm experiencing the same issue now (since Monday), scheduled charging at 16a as opposed to 32a. I've got a tethered Rolec charger and this is the first time it's defaulted to 16a. Yesterday whilst in the car I started a charge early and bumped the...

New Octopus Go tariff and off peak options?

Quick update, Octopus have offered a credit to my account for the inconvenience and am told the next available appointment would be Feb. An hour later, engineer phones to say he's on his way, turns out appointment was never cancelled and he's had visibility for days! Anyway, meter now...

New Octopus Go tariff and off peak options?

So took your advice and contacted Octopus on the 3rd December to triple check all was OK - got a swift reply saying they had spoken with SMS Engineering and the appointment is confirmed for 8th December. With it being appointment day today, I thought I'd contact SMS directly to get a better...

New Octopus Go tariff and off peak options?

I switched to Octopus on 17th November and am scheduled to have a smart meter fitted on January 8th.. I'm not convinced it'll happen though as I've had no 'official' confirmation just an email from a member of the Octopus team saying; I have just checked this for you and the booking has been...

    2019.40.50 beginning to roll

Should I leave wifi off by default

I originally left mine on but found it trying to connect to my home wifi which was a weak connection, due to this the car didn't sleep. Since switching it off the car will sleep within 45 mins of idling. When updates are available I use my phone as a hot spot to download. Like Rooster...
